A bruise causes pain and swelling, which develop due to impaired blood flow in small vessels; soft tissues do not receive nutrition, and their regeneration is hampered by local hypoxia and hyperpermeability of capillary walls. All these symptoms can be neutralized with ointment-based medications, including warming ointments for bruises.
