West Nile fever - Diagnosis

Clinical diagnosis of sporadic West Nile fever cases is problematic. In the West Nile fever endemic region, any case of influenza-like illness or neuroinfection in June–October is suspected of being West Nile fever, but can only be diagnosed using laboratory tests.

West Nile fever - Causes and pathogenesis

Cause of West Nile Fever - West Nile fever virus belongs to the genus Flavivirus of the family Flaviviridae. The pathogenesis of West Nile fever is poorly understood.

West Nile fever

West Nile fever (West Nile encephalitis) is an acute viral zoonotic natural focal disease with a transmissible mechanism of pathogen transmission. It is characterized by an acute onset, pronounced febrile-intoxication syndrome and damage to the central nervous system.

Marburg hemorrhagic fever.

Marburg hemorrhagic fever is an acute zoonotic highly lethal viral disease, manifested by intoxication, pronounced phenomena of universal capillary toxicosis. Synonyms: cercopithecus hemorrhagic fever, green monkey disease, Marburg virus disease, Maridi hemorrhagic fever.

Lassa hemorrhagic fever.

Lassa hemorrhagic fever is an acute zoonotic natural focal viral disease characterized by the development of hemorrhagic syndrome, ulcerative necrotic pharyngitis, pneumonia, myocarditis, kidney damage and a high mortality rate. Synonym - Lassa fever.

Ebola hemorrhagic fever

Ebola hemorrhagic fever is an acute viral, especially dangerous infectious disease characterized by a severe course, pronounced hemorrhagic syndrome and a high mortality rate. Synonym - Ebola fever.

Dengue fever

Dengue fever is an acute zoonotic arbovirus infectious disease with a transmissible mechanism of pathogen transmission, common in tropical and subtropical countries. There are two clinical forms of the disease: classical and hemorrhagic (dengue shock syndrome).

Yellow fever - Prevention

Immunization of the population is of great practical importance for the prevention of yellow fever. Two live vaccines are used for this purpose, in particular, a vaccine based on the 17D strain, obtained by long-term passage of the virus in cell culture. A vaccine created on the basis of the Dakar strain adapted by serial passages on mice has received less widespread distribution.

Yellow fever - Treatment

Specific treatment for yellow fever has not been developed. The use of blood serum from people who have recovered from the disease and naturally immunized monkeys has proven ineffective. All treatment measures are limited to the use of pathogenetic drugs.

Yellow fever - Diagnosis

The diagnosis of yellow fever in most patients is based on the characteristic symptoms of the disease (typical saddle-shaped temperature curve, pronounced symptoms of hemorrhagic diathesis, kidney damage, jaundice, enlargement of the liver and spleen, bradycardia, etc.).
