Diseases of the eyes (ophthalmology)

Chorioiditis

The term "choroiditis" unites a large group of diseases of inflammatory genesis that develop in the choroid of the eye.

Histoplasmosis of the eye: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Histoplasmosis of the eye is a disease caused by the fungus Histoplasnia capsulatum, which exists in two forms: in humans - as a yeast, and in contaminated soil - as a mold.

Toxoplasmosis chorioretinitis.

Toxoplasmic chorioretinitis is most often associated with intrauterine infection. Clinical manifestations of eye damage are not always detected at birth and in early childhood.

Chorioid dystrophy

Dystrophic processes in the choroid may be hereditary or secondary in nature, for example, a consequence of previous inflammatory processes.

Iridocyclitis

Iridocyclitis is an inflammatory disease of the iris and ciliary body. The inflammatory process in the anterior part of the vascular tract can begin with the iris (iritis) or with the ciliary body (cyclitis).

Fuchs syndrome

Dystrophic processes in the iris and ciliary body develop rarely. One of such diseases is Fuchs dystrophy, or heterochromic Fuchs syndrome.

Iris development anomalies: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

At the earliest stages of development of the visual organ, malformations of the iris may form, caused by non-closure of the anterior end of the optic cup slit, which manifests itself as a defect of the iris - congenital coloboma of the iris.

Aniridia: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Congenital aniridia is the absence of the iris. Upon careful examination, small fragments of the root and iris are sometimes found. This pathology can be combined with other developmental defects - microphthalmos, subluxation of the lens, nystagmus.

Hemophthalmos

Vitreous hemorrhages usually occur due to changes in the walls of the retina vessels and vascular tract. They rupture due to trauma and intraocular surgeries, as well as due to inflammatory or degenerative processes (hypertension, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus).

Vitreous detachment: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Vitreous detachment occurs in the presence of dystrophic changes. There are anterior and posterior vitreous detachments.
