Diseases of the eyes (ophthalmology)

Secondary glaucoma

Secondary glaucoma is a group of diseases that occur with a wide variety of pathological processes in the eye.

Hypotension of the eye: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Hypotension of the eye occurs as a consequence of other diseases of the eyes or the whole body. Intraocular pressure can decrease to 7-8 mm Hg and below the true figures.

Primary glaucoma

Congestive glaucoma is the most common form of glaucoma. It involves a number of characteristic changes in the anterior segment of the eye.

Pigmentary glaucoma

The most important pigment contained in biological tissues and providing skin color is melanin. The pigment layer contained in the eye absorbs excess light not used by the retina during the visual act.

Congenital glaucoma

Congenital glaucoma is genetically determined (primary congenital glaucoma), and can be caused by diseases or injuries to the fetus during embryonic development or during childbirth.

Peripheral uveitis: causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment

Peripheral uveitis was identified as a separate nosological group in 1967. The primary inflammatory focus is localized in the flat part of the vitreous body and the peripheral part of the choroid in the form of perivasculitis of the retina.

Treatment of uveitis

In cases of uveitis, early etiological diagnosis, timely initiation of etiotropic and pathogenetic treatment with the use of immunocorrective agents and replacement immunotherapy are important for preventing chronic progression, bilateral eye damage and relapses of uveitis.

Symptoms of uveitis

Acute anterior uveitis is characterized by photophobia, pain, redness, decreased visual acuity, and lacrimation. Chronic anterior uveitis may be asymptomatic or may be accompanied by slight redness and a sensation of “floating spots” before the eyes.

Uveitis

Uveitis is an inflammatory disease of the vascular membrane - the most common pathology of this area of the eye. Uveitis occurs in 57-30% of cases and is one of the main causes of low vision and blindness (25-30%).

Choroiditis - Types

The symptoms of multifocal choroiditis and panuveitis are similar to those of ocular histoplasmosis syndrome described above. It also includes chorioretinal atrophic foci, peripapillary scars, choroidal neovascularization, and peripheral linear bands.
