Viruses

Alpha viruses

Alpha viruses have a genome represented by a single-stranded positive linear RNA with a molecular weight of 4.2 MD. Vyrions of spherical shape, diameter 60-80 nm.

Arenaviruses

The Arenaviridae family consists of one genus, including more than a dozen antigenically related representatives. Four of them cause severe diseases, usually with hemorrhagic syndrome: lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LXM), Lassa fever, Junin and Machupo fevers.

Bunyaviruses

The family Bunyaviridae (from the name of the Bunyamvera in Africa) is the largest by the number of its included viruses (over 250). This is a typical ecological group of arboviruses.

Omsk haemorrhagic fever virus

Omsk hemorrhagic fever is an endemic disease transmitted through the bites of mites of the genus Dermacentor and sometimes by infection with direct and indirect contact with muskrats or water rats.

Yellow fever virus

Yellow fever is an acute serious infectious disease characterized by severe intoxication, a two-wave fever, severe hemorrhagic syndrome, and kidney and liver damage.

Japanese encephalitis virus

Japanese encephalitis is a natural focal disease transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Culex and other genera of the Culicinae subfamily.

Tick-borne encephalitis virus

Tick-borne encephalitis is a disease that is registered in the habitat of carriers - ixodid ticks.

Togaviruses and flaviviruses

Togaviruses (Latin toga - raincoat) are divided into 3 genera: alpha viruses (arboviruses of antigenic group A) with a typical species - the Sindbis virus

Arboviruses

Under the name "arboviruses" (Latin Arthropoda - arthropods and English borne-transmitting) are now understood as viruses transmitted by susceptible vertebrates (including humans) through the bites of blood-sucking arthropods.

Reoviruses, genus orbits

The family Reoviridae consists of 3 genera: reoviruses, rotaviruses and orbiviruses. Representatives of the orbiviruses are the viruses of Colorado tick-borne fever, the viruses of the Kemerovo group, and others.
