Diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiology)

Acute heart failure

Acute heart failure is a symptom complex of rapidly developing disorders of systolic and/or diastolic function of the heart. The main symptoms are: decreased cardiac output; insufficient tissue perfusion; increased pressure in the pulmonary capillaries; tissue congestion.

Cardiac ruptures

Heart ruptures, or myocardial ruptures, occur in 2-6% of all cases of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. This is the second most common immediate cause of death in hospital. Heart ruptures usually occur within the first week of the disease, but in some cases they are observed later (up to the 14th day).

Cardiac tamponade

Cardiac tamponade is a condition of reduced cardiac output due to mechanical compression of the heart.

Asystole

Asystole is a cardiac arrest accompanied by the disappearance of its electrical activity.

Sudden cardiac death

Sudden cardiac death is cardiac arrest, an acute hemodynamic syndrome caused by complete cessation of the myocardial pumping function, or a condition in which the continuing electrical and mechanical activity of the heart does not provide effective blood circulation.

Varicose veins: treatment

Today, varicose veins are recognized as one of the most common vascular diseases. Treatment of this unpleasant and insidious disease is carried out using several methods.

Varicose veins of the lower limbs

Varicose veins are a condition characterized by veins protruding through the skin, as well as thinning of the veins and the formation of subcutaneous nodes. The disease is often seen on the legs.

Prevention of thromboembolism in patients with atrial fibrillation: the problem of oral anticoagulant choice

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a leading cause of stroke in older adults. Its prevalence is 4.5 million people in the European Union and more than 3 million people in the United States, with the number of Americans with AF projected to increase to 7.5 million by 2050.

Pathophysiologic unity of the development of osteoporosis and vascular atherosclerosis

In the structure of mortality of the population of developed countries, the leading place is occupied by diseases of the circulatory system. Cardiovascular diseases (arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction), which are based on atherosclerosis, are rightly called the epidemic of the 21st century.

Arrhythmia

Arrhythmia is not a separate, independent disease; it is a group of symptoms united by one concept – a violation of the normal heart rhythm.
