One of the one and a half hundred identified strains of human papillomavirus is HPV type 2, which, along with HPV type 27, causes skin infections in the form of ordinary warts (verruca vulgaris). [1]

Structure HPV type 2 in women and men

The human papillomavirus  is a double-stranded DNA virus of about 60 nm in size, without a membrane, which infects the basal keratinocytes of the skin by contact.

The icosahedral capsid contains one molecule of ring DNA, consisting of 72 pentamers and bound in a chromatin-like complex with cellular nuclear proteins.

By evading the host’s immune response, the viral genome integrates into the chromosome of the human cell, with only one genome chain being transcribed with the appearance of two classes of proteins expressed by splicing of matrix ribonucleic acid (mRNA): non-structural regulatory proteins E1-E7 (the so-called early proteins, which disrupt the cell cycle and lead to the transformation of skin cells) and later proteins L1 and L2 (structural). [2]

Life cycle HPV type 2 in women and men

The life cycle of a virus is mediated by a series of host-virus interactions. HPV replication associated with the process of differentiation of epithelial cells occurs in two stages. First, in the basal epithelial cells, the plasmid separated from the chromosomal DNA molecule is replicated - with the addition of viral proteins to cell receptors, endocytosis, transcription of E1-E7 proteins and their penetration into the nucleus, where the chromosomal DNA molecule of the virus is reproduced. [3]

From that moment on, differentiated keratinocytes of the skin undergo vegetative replication of the virus: cell DNA synthesis ceases and enhanced synthesis of papillomavirus DNA begins with active production of virions - by producing capsid proteins L1 and L2 and assembling the nuclei of viral capsids.

Symptoms

HPV type 2 is a dermal type of beta-papallmavirus. Strong humoral immunity can suppress the replication of the virus, and then the symptoms of its presence do not appear. [4]

And when this type of HPV multiplies, skin papilloma occurs  . [5], [6]

Forecast

HPV type 2 does not apply to oncogenic, the prognosis of skin lesions with this virus is favorable.
