Diseases of the rectum and anal area

Cryptitis

Cryptitis is an inflammation of the anal sinuses (Morgagni crypts), which are depressions in the most distal part of the rectum. The crypts are located between the anal (Morgagni) ridges and are covered from the side of the intestinal lumen by the semilunar valves.

Epithelial coccygeal passage

Along with paraproctitis, a disease characterized by the formation of abscesses in the coccyx area, not associated with the rectum, is widespread - epithelial coccygeal passage.

Rectal polyps

In most cases, polyps are asymptomatic and are an incidental finding during endoscopy performed for some other disease or for the purpose of a preventive examination of the colon.

Paraproctitis - Diagnosis

Diagnosis of acute paraproctitis. The most important in recognizing acute paraproctitis are examination of the anal area and digital examination of the rectum. Diagnosis of chronic paraproctitis. When interviewing the patient, the duration of the disease, frequency of exacerbations, and treatment methods used are specified.

Paraproctitis - Symptoms

Acute paraproctitis is a purulent inflammation (abscess) of the perirectal tissue. Chronic paraproctitis is a consequence of acute inflammation. This is a pararectal fistula formed after spontaneous opening of an abscess or its opening by a surgical method. The internal opening of the fistula is a defect in the rectum.

Paraproctitis

Paraproctitis is an inflammation of the tissue (pararectal) surrounding the rectum. Of the total number of proctologic diseases, paraproctitis accounts for 15.1%.

Anal fissure

An anal fissure is a linear or triangular defect in the anal canal wall, 1 to 1.5 cm long, located near the transitional fold above the Hilton line. The origin of the fissure is associated with many reasons, but the most important factor is trauma to the mucous membrane of the anal canal by feces, foreign bodies, or damage during childbirth.

Hemorrhoids and hemorrhoidal nodes

Hemorrhoids are dilated veins of the hemorrhoidal plexus of the lower rectum, the most common proctological disease. Symptoms of hemorrhoids include irritation and bleeding.
