Diseases of the mammary glands (mammology)

Purulent mastitis

Purulent mastitis remains a pressing surgical problem. Long hospitalization periods, a high percentage of relapses and the associated need for repeated surgeries, cases of severe sepsis, poor cosmetic results of treatment still accompany this common pathology.

Mastitis

Mastitis is an acute purulent inflammation of the parenchyma and interstitium of the mammary gland. By origin, two forms are distinguished: banal mastitis, which develops with damage to the mammary gland - in fact, this is a suppurating "hematoma", observed in 3% of cases; and lactational (postpartum) mastitis, which accounts for 97% of cases.

Breast diseases

The appearance of breast disease in men and young children, if it is not associated with trauma or purulent inflammation, the so-called gynecomastia, indicates hormonal dysfunction.

Breast cancer (breast cancer)

Every 10th woman in the world gets breast cancer, or medically breast cancer. The mortality rate from this disease is about 50%.
