A drug has been invented that allows you to live without breathing
Last reviewed: 01.07.2025

A drug that will allow a person to hold their breath for 15 to 30 minutes has been invented by scientists from the Children's Clinical Research Center in Boston, Massachusetts. This was reported to journalists by the center's leading cardiologist John Hare.
Administered as an intravenous injection, the drug is a concentrate of microscopic capsules with an organic fat shell that are filled with oxygen. Each capsule contains three to four times more oxygen than the red blood cell (erythrocyte), which supplies the body with this gas, can carry.
According to Hare, "successful testing on animals gives reason to believe that the upcoming clinical trials on humans will also yield the most effective results." For the first time, doctors have managed to calculate "a balanced formula for the miracle drug that ensures its full human acceptance," the scientist added.
The expected introduction into serial production will become a revolutionary stage in the development of healthcare. Doctors will be able to save the lives of millions of patients whose breathing is impaired or whose lungs have failed for some reason. In addition, it is predicted that it will be possible to create qualitatively new devices for breathing underwater and in airless space.
