Botox can help solve premature ejaculation problem
Last reviewed: 02.07.2025
Employees of one of the universities in New Orleans conducted an unusual study, during which they decided to check how Botox injections affect the male body. As it turned out, Botox can affect the duration of sexual intercourse. The studies were conducted on rats that were given Botox injections. The duration of sexual intercourse in animals was measured before and after the injection, and as it turned out, after the therapy, the rats lasted much longer.
The experts plan to begin a study involving volunteers. The experiment will involve 60 men aged 18 to 50, each of whom is in a long-term monogamous relationship. Botox injections are supposed to be administered to men in the muscle tissue around the genitals, while the control group will receive a placebo. Such injections can be administered by specialists who have already dealt with Botox (a new injection is given after the effect of the previous one disappears).
Every fourth man suffers from premature ejaculation. This sexual problem is common among young men. It is generally accepted that the problem of premature ejaculation exists if a man cums in the first minute.
A study of men in different countries showed that the average duration of sexual intercourse is slightly more than five minutes. Problems with premature ejaculation can arise due to problems in relationships, strong emotional shock, increased anxiety, depression, unsuccessful sexual experience in the past, etc.
In some cases, the problem is solved with the help of psychotherapy and antidepressants (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors).
Botox is based on botulinum, a toxin that can cause paralysis. Botox has become a popular cosmetic treatment in recent years for getting rid of facial wrinkles. Botox injections are typically given to women to smooth out their faces and give them a more youthful appearance.
In 2012, Botox was proposed for use in the treatment of chronic migraines.
However, botulinum is a poisonous toxin that can even lead to death, so Botox should be administered under the supervision of a specialist. Botox is also planned to be used to treat asthma. Scientists from Australia injected Botox into patients' vocal cords. All volunteers suffered from difficulty breathing and spasms of the vocal muscles. The injection of the drug resulted in muscle paralysis, which allowed the muscles to relax and made breathing easier for patients. The effect lasted for several months. More than half of the participants in the experiment showed a significant improvement in their condition, shortness of breath disappeared, and some patients did not need additional treatment at all after Botox injections. However, the treatment also had side effects, for example, many participants' voices changed (became softer). No one had problems with swallowing after Botox therapy.
