Vesiculopustulosis is a purulent inflammation of the openings of the merocrine sweat glands.

What causes vesiculopustulosis?

The most common disease of newborns caused by staphylococcus.

Symptoms of vesiculopustulosis

The disease vesiculopustulosis begins at the mouth of the sweat glands. The main symptoms of vesiculopustulosis are the formation of pustules the size of a pinhead at the mouth of the sweat glands, surrounded by a rim of hyperemia with a dense cover. The pustules are initially single, often grouped, and quickly spread. The favorite localization of the rash is the axillary and inguinal folds, the scalp. In weakened children, they can spread deep, forming infiltrates with a possible outcome in abscesses and phlegmon, which are accompanied by lymphangitis, lymphadenitis, and sepsis. With adequate treatment of vesiculopustulosis, the process regresses in 7-10 days.

Treatment of vesiculopustulosis

Since tight wrapping and the associated increased sweating play a major role in the development of vesiculopustulosis, treatment of vesiculopustulosis should be aimed at eliminating these causes. It is recommended to wipe the child's skin with disinfectant alcohol solutions, lubricate the pustules with a solution of aniline dyes, ointments containing antibiotics and corticosteroids. General irradiation with ultraviolet rays, proper nutrition, and general tonics are indicated. In severe cases, antibiotics are prescribed parenterally.
