If cystitis with blood develops, it is necessary to seek help from a doctor - a urologist. Cases that are accompanied by signs of incipient kidney damage require immediate treatment:

  • pain in the lower back, in the side;
  • marked increase in temperature, chills;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • frequent and painful urination, with no tendency to normalize within a few hours.

It is important to see a doctor, both in acute and chronic cystitis with blood. Even if the patient has just completed a course of therapy, and the symptoms return again, medical help should be sought immediately.

First aid

What is the first aid if cystitis with blood is detected?

  1. It is necessary to make an appointment with a doctor for the patient, and if the bleeding is severe – for example, if the urine turns reddish or rusty – then you need to call an ambulance.
  2. Before receiving medical assistance, the patient must be provided with bed rest and plenty of fluids.

Every 30-40 minutes, the patient should drink a glass of still drinking water or dried fruit, cranberry, or blueberry compote. It is forbidden to drink coffee, strong tea, carbonated drinks, or alcohol. Drinks may also include infusions of oats, birch buds, nettle leaves, and chamomile flowers. It is better to abstain from food at first, and from heat treatments as well (until the origin of the bleeding is determined).

You should not self-medicate: wait for a doctor who will prescribe the exact medications that are needed in this particular case. [ 1 ]

Medicines that a doctor may prescribe

Antimicrobial agents or antibiotics for cystitis with blood are prescribed to almost everyone, because the inflammatory process of bacterial etiology is treated only with antibiotic therapy. It is appropriate to use such drugs of this group:

Monural is an antibacterial drug based on fosfomycin, which is known for its pronounced antimicrobial properties against most microorganisms that cause urinary tract infections. Monural is often prescribed for cystitis with blood without waiting for urine test results, which is due to the versatility of the drug: it is taken once in the amount of one packet (3 g) during an acute attack of the inflammatory process. Chronic inflammation is not treated with Monural. Possible side effects: vulvovaginitis in women, headache, dizziness, digestive disorders.

Furadonin is used for cystitis with blood to eliminate the bacterial infectious agent, as it is an excellent uroantiseptic. The drug is taken immediately after meals, 100 mg in the morning and evening, for a week. Furadonin is prescribed to children from 12 years of age. Possible side effects: nausea, headache, drowsiness, hypersensitivity reactions.

Nolitsin (Norfloxacin) is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent belonging to the second-generation fluoroquinolones. Nolitsin helps with cystitis with blood even if the pathogen is resistant to antibiotic therapy. Prescribed 400 mg of the drug twice a day for 3-10 days, depending on the complexity of the disease. Treatment may be accompanied by gastrointestinal disorders, psychoneurological and skin reactions, headache, abdominal cramps, irritability.

Furagin is a nitrofuran drug, which is characterized by slowly developing resistance to it by bacteria. Furagin for cystitis with blood is taken orally, immediately after meals, with water, in the amount of 100-200 mg up to three times a day. The duration of the course of therapy is up to ten days. If necessary, the course can be repeated after 2 weeks. The drug is not used in pediatrics.

Rulid is a macrolide antibiotic, a roxithromycin preparation. It is a low-toxicity drug. Rulid is taken every 12 hours at 150 mg, but this dosage can be changed by the doctor depending on the characteristics of the disease. Possible side effects: weakness, skin rashes, diarrhea, melena, transient numbness of the arms and legs.

Hemostatic drugs for cystitis with blood are not always prescribed, but only if there is an obvious source of bleeding. The following medications are considered the safest and fastest acting:

Dicynone, an etamzilate preparation, is an antihemorrhagic agent. Dicynone for cystitis with blood is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, in an optimal daily dose of 10-20 mg/kg of weight, 3-4 times. The daily dose for children is ½ of the adult dosage. Side effects are usually mild and transient: abdominal pain, dizziness, hot flashes, allergic reactions.

Water pepper extract is a hemostatic herbal preparation that can be used by adults and children from 12 years of age. The extract is taken 35 drops up to 4 times a day, half an hour before meals. There is a small probability of developing side effects in the form of headache, nausea, allergic reaction.

Herbal tablets are often prescribed for cystitis with blood, which act gently and effectively, while simultaneously combining safety and a minimum number of possible side effects:

Cystone is an adjuvant for urinary tract infections. It is especially indicated for bladder stones and to speed up the excretion of uric acid. Cystone is taken orally, adults - 2 tablets, and children from 12 years old - 1 tablet 2-3 times a day, for several weeks. Side effects include skin rash, gastrointestinal disorders, lumbar pain.

Canephron is a water-alcohol extract of medicinal plants, and can be produced as a solution or dragee. Canephron for cystitis with blood is taken in the amount of two dragees three times a day (for children from 6 years old - one dragee three times a day). Adult patients take the solution in the amount of 50 drops three times a day, and children - 15-25 drops in the morning, at lunch and in the evening. After the painful symptoms subside, it is recommended to continue taking the drug for another 14-30 days.

Monurel is used to treat acute microbial cystitis, recurrent acute cystitis, non-specific urethritis, bacteriuria during pregnancy. The drug is taken between meals, in the amount of 3 g of granulated powder in 1/3 glass of water. The drug is taken once. Repeated use of Monurel is allowed, but not earlier than 24 hours after the first dose. Possible side effects: digestive disorders, skin rashes.

Vitamins

In addition to diet and basic treatment for cystitis with blood, vitamins are very important. They help restore damaged tissue, strengthen the immune system, and improve microflora. On the advice of a doctor, you can start taking complex multivitamin supplements or try to get the necessary nutrients from food.

The following vitamins are of great importance in the successful treatment of cystitis:

  • Ascorbic acid is especially effective if the inflammation is caused by E. coli entering the urethra. Vitamin C is taken in the amount of 0.5 g twice a day.
  • Vitamin A is important for the complete cellular restoration of the walls of the urinary organ. In case of cystitis with blood, this vitamin is consumed in the amount of 25 thousand IU per day.

To eliminate the inflammatory process, zinc is needed, which can further prevent the development of relapses of the disease. It is useful to add echinacea to vitamins and zinc - for example, in the form of a tincture. This remedy will strengthen the immune system, due to which the disease will quickly recede.

Physiotherapy treatment

Physiotherapy may consist of the following procedures:

  • laser and short-pulse electrical pain relief;
  • laser treatment and magnetic therapy;
  • Microwave, UHF;
  • application of sinusoidal modulated currents;
  • endovesical phonophoresis.

In the process of physiotherapy, a good effect is achieved by combining sinusoidal modulated currents with electrophoresis: this allows one to slow down painful impulses from the damaged organ. SMT-electrophoresis procedures are used in relation to patients suffering from chronic inflammation.

Laser therapy, ultra-high-frequency therapy, and ultrasound are used in the latent course of the disease at the recovery stage.

Is it possible to warm up cystitis with blood?

Thermal exposure really helps to eliminate the main painful symptoms and is often used for cystitis. But is it possible to use dry or moist heat when blood is released into the bladder cavity? Doctors say unequivocally: before conducting diagnostics and determining the exact source of bleeding, it is contraindicated to use thermal procedures. Even the slightest warming can provoke severe acute bleeding, which is absolutely unacceptable.

So, can you use a heating pad for cystitis with blood? You can't until your doctor allows you to do this.

Baths, saunas and even hot baths are also contraindicated for cystitis with blood: it is only allowed to take a warm shower, additionally wash with warm solutions of furacilin or potassium permanganate, infusions of chamomile or sage. Other water procedures should be agreed with the doctor.

Treatment at home

Even at home, it is better to carry out combined treatment - be sure to take medications and do the procedures prescribed by the doctor, supplementing them with some folk remedies. If you try to treat cystitis with blood exclusively with "grandmother's" recipes, you can add problems to yourself: the disease is easily complicated by kidney pathologies, up to general intoxication and sepsis.

Patients should understand the nature of the disease, pay special attention to the importance of preventing dehydration and timely emptying of the bladder.

All patients should be aware of the need for antibiotic therapy, without which it is almost impossible to completely cure infectious cystitis.

Diet is no less mandatory: salty, spicy, irritating food, alcohol, coffee are excluded (preferred diet table No. 10). Liquid intake is provided to maintain the required daily diuresis in the amount of 2-2.5 liters.

Phytotherapy for cystitis with blood does not carry a significant independent load. However, medicinal plants can be used as an auxiliary method at the recovery stage.

Folk remedies

The main method of folk treatment is considered to be warming up the area of the bladder projection with warm compresses, heating pads, salt bags. Warming up is repeated for 5 minutes every hour until the condition is steadily improved. It is believed that thermal procedures have an antispasmodic property, therefore they help to quickly relieve the painful symptoms of cystitis. However, in case of obvious bleeding, heat should not be used: it is necessary to first consult a doctor.

It is recommended to drink cranberry juice. This berry prevents the adhesion of pathogenic microorganisms to the mucous tissue of the bladder, which promotes a speedy recovery.

And one more folk recipe. Mix equal amounts of black radish juice and honey. Drink the remedy 1 tbsp. three times a day. The duration of such treatment is from three to four weeks.

Do baths and douches with chamomile for 10-20 minutes every evening until the painful symptoms are eliminated.

A woolen scarf is also used to warm the bladder, which is applied to the lower abdomen. This method of warming is excellent if used at night.

Additionally, you can also use medicinal plants.

Herbal treatment

One of the most common plants used to treat cystitis is dill. The well-known greens, together with the seeds, have pronounced cleansing, bactericidal and restorative properties. Dill is most often taken in the form of an infusion or decoction:

  • dill seeds are ground into powder, 1 tbsp of powder is poured with 250 ml of boiling water and infused in a thermos for several hours (optimally 2.5 hours), drink 100 ml twice or three times a day;
  • The seeds are poured with boiling water (1 tbsp. per 250 ml of water) and kept on low heat for 10 minutes, after which they are filtered and taken ½ cup up to five times a day.

In addition to dill, chamomile infusion helps well with cystitis with blood. Pour 1 tbsp. chamomile flowers with 250 ml of boiling water, leave under the lid for a quarter of an hour, filter. Take a third of a glass three times a day.

If cystitis is not associated with kidney disease, it can be cured with bearberry leaves. One tablespoon of raw material is poured with 200 ml of boiling water, kept for half an hour in a water bath, filtered and cooled. Drink the potion 1 tbsp. up to six times a day, between meals. Store the medicine in the refrigerator.

A positive effect is noted if you treat cystitis with blood with lingonberry leaves. Take one tablespoon of crushed leaves, pour 250 ml of boiling water, keep under the lid for an hour. Drink 100 ml three times a day half an hour before meals.

Other well-known plants are also used for cystitis, such as sage, violet, mint, dandelion rhizome and leaves, fireweed, marshmallow rhizome or St. John's wort.

Homeopathy

Homeopathic medicines are prescribed taking into account the characteristics of the disease of a particular patient: for example, the form of cystitis, its etiology, the primary or secondary nature of the pathology, as well as some individual characteristics of the patient himself are taken into account.

  • Aconitum helps with the acute stage of cystitis with blood, which is accompanied by signs of intoxication, burning pain in the bladder, painful problematic urination - including in children.
  • Apis is prescribed for cloudy and bloody urine, as well as in the presence of general symptoms such as drowsiness, stupor, and edema.
  • Arsenicum is used to treat chronic inflammation in which pus and blood are found in the urine.
  • Belladonna helps with acute processes with manifestations of hypersensitivity in the bladder area.
  • Cantharis is used to relieve unbearable spasmodic pain in the urethra and perineum, with dribbling of urine with blood.
  • Dulcamara is used for small amounts of foul-smelling and turbid urine with red or light mucus. The condition is worse in cool weather.

There are other, no less valuable homeopathic remedies - for example, Berberis vulgaris, Calcarea, Camphor, Carbo vegetabilis help many patients. But any of these drugs are prescribed according to the appropriate indications and in individual dosages, which is assessed by a homeopathic doctor during a consultation.

Surgical treatment

Surgical treatment of cystitis with blood is mentioned only in a few cases:

  • in case of urolithiasis, when there is a need to remove the source of constant irritation of the mucous tissue;
  • in tumor processes, when it is necessary to remove a benign or malignant tumor that destroys tissue and blood vessels and promotes bleeding;
  • in case of anatomical defects of the urethra.

Surgical elimination of anatomical defects is prescribed according to individual indications and is a small plastic surgery of the urethral canal - for example, moving the external opening of the urethra, giving it a more elevated position to prevent regular infection. Such intervention does not require a long recovery period and is even performed on an outpatient basis. Although it is preferable for the patient to be under medical supervision for at least 1-2 days.

Self-absorbing sutures are used for the operation, the postoperative period is usually short. The patient comes to the surgeon for a follow-up check-up 1-2 times. As a rule, after the intervention, relapses of cystitis no longer bother.
