The radius has a head of the radius (caput radii) at its proximal end with a flat depression, the glenoid fossa (fovea articularis), for articulation with the head of the humeral condyle. The periphery of the head is occupied by the articular circumference (circumferentia articularis), which articulates with the radial notch of the ulna. The area of the bone below the head is the neck of the radius (collum radii). Below the neck, on the anteromedial side of the bone, is the tuberosity of the radius (tuberositas radii), the attachment site of the biceps brachii tendon. At the distal end of the radius, on its medial side, is the ulnar notch (incisura ulnaris), with which the head of the ulna is connected. The styloid process (processus styloideus) extends downward from the lateral side of the bone. At the distal end of the radius is a concave carpal articular surface (facies articularis carpea) for articulation with two carpal bones (scaphoid and lunate). On the posterior surface, grooves are clearly visible, to which the tendons of the muscles are adjacent.
