Even in childhood, girls are constantly told that it is not allowed to sit on something cold, it is not advisable to catch a cold in your feet. And it is not that your throat can hurt, it can, but not only your throat, an organ located much lower - the bladder - can "catch a cold". It would seem that these are unexpected parallels, however, pain at the end of urination can be felt already a few hours after "sitting on something cold".

What causes pain at the end of urination?

It has become a common belief that bladder inflammation occurs only as a result of a cold. Few people know that eating too much acidic food, consuming energy drinks and other far from healthy carbonated drinks, leads to irritation of the mucous membrane of the urethra, which results in pain at the end of urination.

However, the most common enemies of the bladder remain:

  • colds;
  • infections;
  • neoplasms in the organs of the genitourinary system (tumors);
  • inflammatory processes of the pelvic organs;
  • errors in personal hygiene (dirt).

Symptoms of pain at the end of urination

Bladder inflammation is very easily recognized by two obvious signs - frequent urge to urinate, which occurs in small doses and strong painful sensations, similar to burning. The pain at the end of urination changes its character and becomes pulling. After urination, the feeling of pain does not completely go away, it remains as a feeling of discomfort in the genital area.

In severe forms of the inflammatory process, painful and frequent urge to urinate are accompanied by:

  • elevated body temperature;
  • pain along the entire urethra (pain both at the beginning and at the end of urination), indicating the presence of urethritis;
  • the presence of a cloudy impurity or mucus in the urine (an indicator of an associated urinary tract infection).

The difference in pain at the end of urination in men and women

Every time when we talk about diseases of the pelvic organs in general, and the bladder in particular, we first of all talk about women's predisposition to these diseases. The anatomical structure is to blame. Of course, men also suffer from cystitis, but they, unlike women, will have to "sit on a cold stone" much longer to "earn" pain at the end of urination. If we consider the structure of the urethra, then in women its length is approximately up to 3.5 cm, and in men up to 10 cm. Is the difference noticeable?

Urogenital infections are also “unpleasant” because they have an ascending tendency. That is, the inflammation appeared in the urethra and rose up, “infecting” the bladder, from there it can “reach” the kidneys. In women, any manifestations of inflammatory processes occur with the presence of vaginal discharge of a certain nature: mucous, transparent, thick, white, purulent. The presence and nature of the discharge can be used to suspect the onset of some disease. In men, everything occurs covertly. And the most common cystitis can be detected only if the pain at the end of urination is accompanied by the presence of blood in the urine, which will already be an indicator of the development of an advanced form of inflammation.

Another difference is that women are more attentive and meticulous in health matters, and more often consult doctors, especially when pain begins to bother them. Men tend to ignore painful sensations until their patience runs out. Which, of course, deserves condemnation.

What should you do if you experience pain at the end of urination?

In case of any manifestations of inflammation, of any organ, of any severity, first of all, you need to see a doctor. Forget about the fact that you can take a hot bath or warm up the inflamed organ in other ways. Microbes, viruses and some bacteria can accelerate their reproduction several times when the temperature rises. Unmotivated use of medications, without a doctor's prescription, can also aggravate the situation. Pain at the end of urination can be relieved at home. Surely, each family has at least one grandmother's recipe, but is it worth the risk when there is no confirmed diagnosis?

During a visit to the doctor, you will certainly be prescribed to take a urine test, blood, smears from the urethra. Endoscopic examinations, depending on the degree of damage and neglect of the disease - cystoscopy, ultrasound examination of the genitourinary system. Men will be given a recommendation to visit an andrologist. Women must undergo an examination by a gynecologist.

For treatment of uncomplicated cystitis, it is not necessary to stay in hospital. Following the doctor's recommendations at home will help get rid of inflammatory processes in a short time. Most likely, drug therapy will consist of taking furagin or canephron. In the presence of pathogenic microflora, antibiotics of a broader spectrum of action may be prescribed. In support of medications, it is imperative to adhere to a gentle diet, excluding spicy, sour and salty foods.

There are proven recipes of traditional medicine, which our grandmothers and mothers have used for many years. Let us give one of them as an example. Women are most inclined to such treatment, but this information will be useful for men too. On the very first day, as soon as pain appears at the end of urination, you need to buy dill seeds at the pharmacy. Prepare a drink: pour 1 tablespoon of dill seeds into a thermos, pour a glass of hot water, let it brew for 15 minutes. Take 100 grams, three times a day.
