Today, more and more people talk about such a phenomenon as cervical lordosis. In order to understand what actions to take in this case, whether there is reason to fear, whether there are health risks, you need to understand the essence of the concept itself. Here you can not do without elementary knowledge in the field of human anatomy and physiology.

Cervical lordosis is normal

Normally, cervical lordosis exists in every person. We are talking about the natural physiological curves of the spinal column. They support the optimal position of the spine when walking. The bends act as shock absorbers, which in a certain way dampen movements, facilitate shocks and vibrations while walking. If there is no bend, there are violations of the spine, diseases. The spine experiences an increased load, movements infringe and erase the vertebrae. However, cervical lordosis should not be excessive.

Excessive curvature of the spine also negatively affects the health of the spine. Following diseases of the spine, other diseases also occur. For example, the curvature of the spine entails a violation of the muscular frame, a violation of the normal state of the paravertebral muscles, oblique muscles. The whole figure is gradually distorted, in particular, the state of the latissimus dorsi, oblique muscles is disturbed. This entails deformation of the cervical and thoracic spine, chest, displacement of the sternum, ribs. Violation of the normal position and condition of the sternum and intercostal muscles affects the position and condition of the heart and other organs that they protect. Violations of the clavicular and sternal position entail a violation of the respiratory processes, incomplete filling of the chest with air. Accordingly, less oxygen enters the blood, less of it is transported to the internal organs, hypoxia or hypercapnia develops. It is worth noting that a violation of the cervical lordosis, for example, its full straightening, or excessive bending, leads to the fact that the blood circulation of the brain is disturbed. Often there is a pinched nerve, intervertebral disc, spinal nerve root in the neck, this further disrupts blood circulation. The risk of blood clots, the development of vascular disorders, hypertension, and strokes sharply increases. [1]

Cervical and lumbar lordosis

The spinal column is represented by one backward deflection (thoracic kyphosis) and two forward deflection (cervical and lumbar lordosis). They act as shock absorbers, giving the spine a natural position, supporting upright posture. Normally, these are ordinary bends that only facilitate walking, do not cause any discomfort. In pathology, these are excessive bends, or vice versa, an excessively even spine, devoid of natural bends. This condition violates not only the normal state of the spine, but also disrupts the basic physiological processes that take place in it, including metabolism. There is a risk for the spinal cord, which is located in the canal of the spinal column. Pathological bends, or their absence, is a painful condition that often requires special treatment. [2]

Formation of cervical lordosis

The foundation is laid in the first months as the baby learns to hold the neck. Strengthening the muscles of the neck helps to strengthen the cervical lordosis. The formation of cervical lordosis is facilitated by the rise of the head, chest, torso. Initially, a child is born with a straight spine, without bends, because in the conditions of intrauterine development, the spine does not experience any load. Gradually, as the child begins to develop physically, strengthen the muscles, the curves of the spine develop. So, cervical lordosis is formed first, as the child learns to raise the neck. The second is thoracic kyphosis, it develops as the child begins to sit, use the neck and chest muscles. The third is lumbar lordosis. It is formed as the child gets on his feet, masters walking.

Kyphotization of cervical lordosis

In some people, kyphotization of the cervical lordosis can occur - a kind of reverse development in the opposite direction. Instead of lordosis, kyphosis is formed, which disrupts not only the normal functioning of the spine, but also other structures that are directly or indirectly associated with the formation of kyphosis. The load on the heart increases, the lungs experience increased pressure, do not fully open, respectively, are not completely filled with air. This does not allow them to fully perform their function, in particular, does not allow the organs to be supplied with a sufficient amount of oxygen. Hence - hypoxia, a violation of the functional state of the body, a decrease in efficiency.

The incorrect position of the cervical spine negatively affects the condition of the upper respiratory tract. In particular, there is pressure on the thyroid gland, vocal cords, pharynx and trachea. This can disrupt the processes of voice formation, negatively affect the function of the thyroid gland, and through it - on the hormonal status in general. The processes of breathing, chewing, swallowing are disturbed, the normal functioning of the salivary glands is disrupted. In addition, it must be taken into account that the spinal cord, nerves that innervate the internal organs, passes through the spine. The sensitivity of receptors decreases, the conductivity of nerve fibers is disturbed. There is a compression of the blood vessels, respectively, the organs that are supplied with blood from these vessels do not receive adequate nutrients and oxygen, and are not cleansed of waste metabolites. This leads to a violation of trophism, respiratory processes, hypoxia and hypercapnia develop, autointoxication with one's own waste products. The risk of developing atherosclerosis of the vessels increases, the risk of developing strokes, increased and sudden changes in blood pressure also increases. [3]

Symptoms of the cervical lordosis

Under this term, both normal lordosis and its violation (flattening, alignment, excessive bending, reverse development) can be defined. Normally, lordosis performs a number of important functions, and is necessary to maintain the normal functioning of the spine. Lordosis is necessary to ensure movement, maintain the neck in an upright position.

In an abnormal case, the symptoms are as follows: the neck strongly bends back, not only the seventh cervical vertebra, but also other vertebrae, strongly stands out. In addition, quite often the entire spine is deformed, subjected to curvature. In the neck area, the formation of an even arc can be observed, the spine resembles an even rod. It is also a symptom of pathology. Pain is not always a symptom of pathology, since in some cases pain occurs, in others, on the contrary, a person does not feel any pain or any discomfort. There may be a feeling of pain during movements and turns of the neck, stiffness, reduced sensitivity.

As the first signs indicating the development of lordosis, is the appearance of a bend. Normally, there is a slight bend of the spine in the occipital lobe. On the back of the neck, the 7th cervical vertebra is well felt. If pathological lordosis appears, the bend becomes excessive, sometimes pain, discomfort during movement, and stiffness of movement appear. If the bend is smoothed out, and the spine becomes even, this is also a sign of pathology. In addition, cases are possible: the bend does not develop backward, but forward.

Cervical lordosis in children

In children, cervical lordosis occurs when they begin to lift their neck and hold it upright. Prior to this, the spine in children is even, because it does not experience stress. However, it is necessary to ensure that the lordosis is formed correctly, and there are no pathologies in the physical development of the spine. It is for this reason that children of the first year are regularly examined by specialists, including an orthopedist, a surgeon. When the first signs of pathology are detected, treatment should be started as soon as possible. In the early stages, it is most effective, and often includes special passive gymnastics, massage, and baby swimming.

In older children, treatment requires more time and more effort. Treatment of lordosis at any stage requires mandatory physical activity. It is necessary to conduct regular training aimed at training the spine, working out the muscles of the cervical spine. Exercises in combination with massage, swimming are especially effective. A child at any age, up to his adulthood, has a very elastic and flexible spine. This makes it easy to correct pathologies. According to some reports, the final formation of the skeletal system ends in full only at 25 years of age. This suggests that the correction of disorders and deformities of the bones and the spine is effective precisely in this period of time. After 25 years, the spine is difficult to correct.

In children, cervical lordosis is easily corrected by correcting the position. To do this, use special orthopedic pillows, mattresses for sleeping, static racks. It is also possible to use a corset, bandage, taping. However, such procedures, as a rule, are required only as a last resort, without the need it is better not to apply. This is due to the fact that such procedures significantly limit the child's mobility, as well as the possibility of full growth and development, reduces physical activity, which is important for both the physical and mental development of the child.

Massage, physiotherapy exercises, swimming are carried out, breathing practices are used. During the massage, special children's massage techniques are used, which are owned by a masseur with specialization in the field of children's massage. The duration of a massage for children with lordosis is on average 15-20 minutes.

Stages

Cervical lordosis develops in several stages. At the first stage, a small curved arc is formed from an even spinal column. Gradually, the bend increases in size, becomes more tangible and noticeable. This completes the stage of bend formation under normal conditions. If we consider a pathological case, one or two more stages appear. At the second stage, the bend either continues to increase, despite the fact that it has already reached certain norms. It becomes so curved that it protrudes far beyond the surface of the occiput, has the appearance of a hump on the back. Or, in the second stage, the bend can abruptly begin to straighten, up to the formation of a flat back. This either ends development, or the third stage begins, in which the bend develops until a bend similar to the norm is formed, only in the opposite direction.

Forms

There are several types of lordosis. First, it is physiological and pathological. As you know, the physiological is formed in each person and is the norm. He is assigned important functions in the body, he supports upright posture, relieves pain and discomfort while walking, evenly distributes the load. Pathological lordosis is one that makes walking difficult, an excessive protrusion is formed. Pain is possible.

Of the lordosis, cervical and lumbar lordosis are distinguished, which are formed, respectively, in the neck or lower back.

Depending on age, children's, adult and senile lordosis are distinguished, which are formed, respectively, at different stages of a person's life.

Physiological cervical lordosis

From birth, it is necessary to promote the formation of physiological cervical lordosis in a child. For this, the baby is laid out on the tummy. From about a few weeks of birth, the baby can lie on his stomach for several minutes. Gradually, the time spent on the stomach increases: from 10-15 minutes to 1-1.5 hours after each feeding. The child tries to raise his head up, turns his neck. This is a kind of first gymnastics necessary for full physical development and harmonization.

Gradually, from several months, the physical load on the child's body must be increased. A special children's massage is carried out, which helps to strengthen the muscles and develop them. Positional development is used: the child is given a certain position that forms the correct body structures. In this case, special mattresses, pillows with an orthopedic orientation, adapted to the child, can be used. There is infant swimming, which is one of the most effective means of development. For babies, special psycho-gymnastics, fitball-gymnastics, based on the use of special exercises on the fitball, is used. A separate direction is being developed - baby yoga, stretching, aimed at the integrated development of a newborn and a child of the first year of life.

Straightening of the physiological cervical lordosis

If you have excessive bending, and you need to straighten the physiological cervical lordosis, you should first consult with an orthopedic doctor. He will conduct an examination, prescribe appropriate functional tests that will show the condition of the spine. X-rays and other research methods may be required. After an appropriate diagnosis is made, further treatment is selected. Most often, special physical exercises are used in combination with massage. Additionally, various orthopedic remedies, physiotherapy can be used.

First of all, it is necessary to determine the goals and objectives to be achieved in the treatment process. Then, based on the goals set, a program and treatment regimen is developed. The basis is made up of exercises that affect directly the spine. [4]

The main treatment for lordosis, especially at home, is physical activity. Traditionally, the means of physiotherapy exercises (LFK) are used.

But today there are a number of other means, for example, yoga therapy, yoga for the spine, and qigong healing techniques. The composition of yoga therapy even includes a special section - yoga of the spine, aimed at treating various pathologies of the spine. Also, proper breathing is largely based on working with the spine (pranayama in the hatha yoga system). There are separate complexes - the Element, the Diamond Rod, which allow you to work with the spine. Many Chinese health practices, including qigong, Chinese gymnastics, are aimed at working out the spine. In Eastern traditions, a lot of attention is paid to the spine, since it is considered to be the central element of the body that supports the activity of the whole organism, the main life force and energy is concentrated in it.

Violation of the statics of the cervical lordosis

A fairly common pathology is a violation of the statics of cervical lordosis - a condition in which the cervical spine acquires excessive mobility. This can have a number of negative consequences, in particular, it can cause pinching of the intervertebral discs, roots of the spinal cord, nerves, which leads to the development of inflammatory and painful sensations, and requires mandatory treatment.

Today, many methods are used to correct spinal disorders. However, the main method of treatment is still exercise. In case of violations, it is necessary to consult with the relevant specialists. Specialists such as an orthopedist, surgeon, doctor or instructor of physical therapy, yoga therapist, master or instructor of qigong, health practitioners will help.

Today, exercise therapy has long been not the only method of treating diseases of the spine. Treatment is applied with position, rhythmic and isometric gymnastics, static and dynamic, breathing, meditative exercises, specially designed dynamic complexes aimed at developing individual muscle groups and solving specific problems. Treatment can be carried out at various stages of a person's life. For newborns, infants and children of the first year of life, methods such as fitball gymnastics, baby yoga, children's stretching, psycho-gymnastics are widely used. All these elements are combined with massage and baby swimming, active-passive gymnastics. Mothers can work together with children, or only a specialist deals with children. [5]

Fitball-gymnastics, children's yoga, special complexes of children's respiratory and relaxing elements, and outdoor games are actively used for children of preschool and primary school age.

For teenagers, classes are shown in callanetics, shaping, aerobics, fitness, and body flex. Various types of yoga are becoming more and more popular. For example, aerial yoga, which is a synthesis of classical hatha yoga and tightrope walking.

For people of mature age, the best option is to start practicing classical hatha yoga, especially asanas, pranayama, dharana. These elements imply conscious work with the physical body, muscles, bones, tendons, building correct breathing, relaxation techniques and conscious concentration of attention. There are many varieties and directions of hatha yoga. For problems with the spine, you can try Kundalini yoga, pranayama (breathing practices). You can also recommend Chinese health practices and qigong, in which the focus is on working with the spine.

For elderly and senile people, classical hatha yoga, individual elements of qigong, relaxation and meditation practices, Nordic walking, swimming and hydrotherapy are shown.

Cervical lordosis deformity

When correcting the deformity of the cervical spine, it is imperative to use physical exercises, a sufficient level of physical activity is required. Various physical exercises are combined with massage techniques, relaxation of the body, physiotherapy, aids. Assign special corsets, bandages. We can recommend Kundalini Yoga - a direction that contains a set of exercises designed to purposefully affect the spine, allows you to activate vital energy.

Some experts practice elements of body-oriented therapy, the essence of which is not only working with the physical body, but also psychological counseling, correction of the psycho-emotional state. At the same time, specialists in body-oriented therapy proceed from the premise that every problem, pathology in the human body is the result of some kind of mental trauma, unlived emotion, or stress. During the consultation, a specialist will help a person to return to the origins of the problem, find it, relive it, feel the corresponding changes in the body, correlate them with the mental state. [6]

Qigong, Chinese health practices, numerous breathing exercises, which are also aimed mainly at the spine, have proven themselves well. Some Slavic practices and gymnastics are also used, for example, the complex method of restoring and cleansing the body "Ladanie", the technique "Dance of Fire", "Lazhenie", holistic and bioenergetic massage, gymnastic complexes, such as "Zhiva", "Triglava Complex", author's technique Ovcharenko S.V. "Spheres".

There are exercises for cleaning and complex study of the spine, paravertebral muscles located along the spinal column and intervertebral discs, correction of lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, intervertebral hernia and inflammatory processes.

Of the methods of physiotherapy, treatment with ultrasound, microcurrents, waves of various lengths, electrophoresis, cryotherapy, thermal procedures, and electroprocedures are widely used.

Swimming, water aerobics, hydroprocedures in the pool, jacuzzi, therapeutic baths have a positive effect. These procedures allow you to relax the spine, reduce the load. They relax muscles, relieve spasm, pain. The Scottish shower, Charcot's shower, shower-fan, jacuzzi, hydromassage baths have found wide application in practice.

Lordosis of the cervical vertebrae

In order to eliminate the lordosis of the cervical vertebrae, you need to be patient, since this is a rather lengthy procedure that requires strict adherence to the developed tactics for correcting the spine. Treatment, as a rule, lasts from several months to six months, and even more. At the same time, the success of treatment largely depends on the activity of the patient himself. First of all, he must perform regular physical exercises, without which treatment is impossible.

At the same time, it is recommended to exercise on a regular basis, to perform exercises daily, and sometimes even several times a day - in the morning and in the evening.

More simple exercises are performed in the morning (mostly relaxing, stretching). In the evening, toning, strength exercises, twisting are performed. It is also recommended to work out with an exercise therapy instructor or a yoga therapist about 1-2 times a week. [7]

The main principle is the use of an integrated approach, that is, exercises should be selected in such a way that all muscle groups, not only the spine, are involved in the process of their implementation.

To achieve the maximum effect, you need to alternate relaxation and tension techniques, be sure to include relaxation, meditation, breathing exercises. It is also important to remember a simple rule: the load must be increased gradually.

Cervical lordosis straightened, straightening of cervical lordosis

If your cervical lordosis is straightened, this is a pathology. This is normal only in newborns. Therefore, when straightening the cervical lordosis, you should consult a doctor: an orthopedist, a surgeon. Before starting treatment, you need to make an accurate diagnosis and determine the cause of the pathology. Sometimes, in order to conduct a qualitative diagnosis, it is necessary to contact a vertebrologist, or an osteopath. If such a need arises, an orthopedist or surgeon will write a referral for a consultation.

It is important to exclude inflammatory processes in the neck and spine, as this can become a serious obstacle to the implementation of complex therapy. It is also necessary to take into account the subjective sensations of the patient, for example, pain in the neck, spine, which may be a sign of an acute inflammatory process, or muscle pinching, displacement of a vertebra. As a rule, all this is quite well felt during palpation. [8]

Differential diagnosis is important, which will help to differentiate the signs of various diseases that have similar manifestations. Instrumental methods, such as x-rays, may be required to clarify the diagnosis. The use of laboratory tests to diagnose lordosis is extremely rare. Currently, methods such as X-ray examination, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging are widely used. These methods allow you to visualize the picture of the pathology, assess the condition of the vertebrae, adjacent soft tissues, and sometimes even nearby vessels and nerves.

Smoothness of cervical lordosis, cervical lordosis is flattened

With the smoothness of the cervical lordosis, special treatment is necessary, since the cervical lordosis is flattened only in newborns. In other cases, there is a pathology of the cervical region.

Today, various methods of correction are used. Both traditional and non-traditional methods of influencing the body are used. First of all, physical exercises are used as a basis. If earlier only means of exercise therapy (physiotherapy exercises) were used, today it is possible to choose a type of physical activity for every taste and disposition - from traditional general developmental physical exercises, classical sports, outdoor games, and ending with oriental, Chinese, Tibetan health practices. People of different ages, genders and interests can choose activities to their liking. For example, for children of preschool age, children's fitness, fitball-gymnastics using various colorful equipment, bright fitballs, and specific equipment is ideal. Many classes for children are held in the form of entertaining game events, elements of a story game and distribution of roles are introduced.

There are also various activities for adults, ranging from table tennis and basketball, intensive aerobics to calm and balanced callanetics, hatha yoga. Many men like martial arts, health and sports qigong, hand-to-hand combat, various martial techniques, Chinese gymnastics, which allow not only to maintain physical fitness, but also to correct the spine, correct deformities.

Many elderly people choose running, Nordic walking, various types of dances, swimming and aqua aerobics, or even individual complexes from various health systems, for example, breathing practices from the Hatha yoga system, Taoist and Tibetan meditations, joint gymnastics and health complexes for the spine from qigong, hatha yoga, gymnastics.

Cervical lordosis with kyphotic deformity, cervical lordosis

When diagnosing cervical lordosis with kyphotic deformity, as a rule, in addition to traditional physical exercises, various aids are prescribed. Comprehensive treatment is required. This diagnosis implies that in a person, cervical lordosis develops in the wrong direction, arching in the opposite direction.

To eliminate the pathology, treatment with ultrasound, microcurrents, exposure to waves of various lengths is widely used. This allows you to stimulate the muscle, to have the necessary effect not only on the spine, but also on the tissues surrounding it. Stimulation of the paravertebral muscles leads to their strengthening, increased sensitivity and contractile activity. Muscles that are in good shape have a positive effect on the spine, keeping them in the correct position.

Electrophoresis is often prescribed. Basically, using this method, calcium, magnesium, magnelis, magnesia, and anti-inflammatory drugs are administered. With the help of microcurrents, they reach the tissues better and have a more intense effect.

Various thermal procedures, electroprocedures, light procedures are shown. The complex therapy includes massage, active-passive gymnastics. Along with classical massage, segmental reflex massage, reflexology, acupuncture, acupressure (shiatsu) are prescribed.

Compresses and wraps will help to strengthen and consolidate the effect. Natural resources are widely used in the treatment of diseases of the spine, for example, acupuncture (acupuncture), apitherapy (treatment with bee stings), hirudotherapy (treatment with leeches) are used.

It is useful to combine exercise and massage with swimming, water aerobics, as these procedures allow you to tone your muscles. Hydroprocedures are used (pouring, wiping, Charcot's shower, hydromassage, jacuzzi).

Many patients are shown aromatherapy, oiling, exposure to medicinal oils. Various relaxing techniques, sets of breathing exercises are used (a “pranayama” complex from hatha yoga, qigong, taijiquan). It is necessary to include relaxation, meditation, autogenic training in complex therapy. Color therapy (chromotherapy), swimming in the pool, water aerobics are used as additional relaxation means. Today, hippotherapy (therapeutic riding), dolphin therapy (swimming with dolphins) is gaining more and more popularity.

Straightened with kyphosis formation

If the cervical spine of a person is straightened with the formation of kyphosis, it is necessary to select a set of exercises for daily performance. This will correct the deformity and improve the spine.

Various systems of exercises for the spine are suitable. As an option, it can be advised to perform the Surya Namaskar exercise complex daily. This is an Indian practice, one of the complexes widely used in classical hatha yoga. In Sanskrit, the name means "Salutation to the Sun". Accordingly, you need to perform this complex in the morning. The ideal time for this complex is dawn, when the sun is just beginning to rise above the horizon. You need to face the Sun, relax, follow the sequence described below, trying to absorb the energy of the sun as much as possible.

The complex is represented by 12 asanas, which smoothly transition from one to another. The whole complex is performed smoothly, without stops, forming dynamics. Women begin the complex with the right leg, men - with the left.

The complex begins with Pranamasana, or prayer posture. In order to perform this asana, you need to stand straight. Legs are straight, heels, shins, knees, hips are connected. The toes should also be connected, the feet should be completely pressed against each other. Hands along the hips. We take a stable position, close our eyes, relax. We try to distribute the weight evenly throughout the body, on both legs. You must stand straight, not leaning back or forward. You can keep your eyes open, you can close them. Slowly raise your arms up in front of you, bending at the elbows. At the level of the chest, we connect the palms with each other, keep the elbows and forearms parallel to the floor.

The second asana is Ardha Chakrasana, the half-wheel pose. Slowly raise your arms up, keeping your palms together. We bring our hands above our heads, we separate our palms, we hold our hands with our palms forward, as if turning them towards the Sun. Arms and palms should be approximately shoulder-width apart. After that, we make a slight deflection in the lower back back, deviate. No need to strive to make the largest possible deflection. The state should be comfortable and relaxed.

From the deflection, we smoothly straighten the back, and immediately go into a slope (Padahastasana - stork pose, or tilt to the legs). Movements are performed slowly. Hands must be kept above the head at all times. Returning from the deflection, the palms look forward. After the downward slope has begun, the palms turn inward and look at each other. We lean slowly, with a flat back. There should be no stoop or arch in the back. The spine must be straight. We reach out for our hands all the time. Hands, as it were, stretch the spine forward and down. We lean as far as we can. If possible, touch the floor with your hands. Even better - you grab his shins with your hands, and press your forehead to your knees. In this position, you need to linger as long as it is comfortable. At the same time, the legs still stand straight, pressed against each other. When leaving their posture, slowly raises his head, look forward, in front of him. We gradually raise our hands. The head is as if squeezed between the hands, the hands are pressed tightly to the ears. Together with the arms that move up, raise the head and straighten the torso. We return to a standing position, with our hands lowered along the hips.

Next, Ashva - Sanchalanasana - the rider's pose is performed. Men put forward the left leg, women - the right. The front leg is bent at the knee, the main weight goes to it. Hands can be held down, resting the fingertips on the ground, can be raised up, joining the palms above the head, straightening the elbows. We are in this position for some time, maintaining balance. Let's move on to the next pose.

Adho Mukha Svanasana - Downward facing dog. We lower our hands to the ground in front of us. The leg that was in front. We put it back, put it on the same level with the second leg. Distribute weight evenly between arms and legs. We try to lower our legs to the floor as much as possible, we pull the heels to the floor as much as possible. We pull our hands forward, behind them we stretch the spine. Buttocks, sacrum, coccyx at the same time stretch upward. The head is between the hands.

We leave in the Ashtanga Namaskar pose - support on 8 points, or zigzag. To do this, we go to an intermediate position - the “bar”, in which the main emphasis is on the toes and hands. The body is evenly distributed between the arms and legs. Then slowly lower the chest, shoulders and pubic bone to the floor, pressing them as hard as possible to the floor. We also lower the chin to the floor. The arms are bent at the elbows (as in push-ups), the legs are partially bent at the knees (knees fall to the floor). 8 points are pressed to the floor: chin, sternum, two shoulders, two bones of the hip joint, two knees. We stay in this position for a while, then move to the next position.

Urdhva Mukha Svanasana - Upward facing dog. Hands remain pressed to the floor, tear off the chin and chest from the floor, slide as high as possible. The head and shoulders rise up, the pelvis, hips, legs remain pressed to the floor. We pull the head up as much as possible, aligning and connecting the shoulder blades. At the same time, we do not throw back the neck.

We repeat the pose of Adho Mukha Svanasana - “downward-facing dog”, which was performed before the Zigzag exercise.

From the "dog face down", slowly put the leg forward, bend at the knee. We use the foot with which we started the circle: men - left, women - right. We transfer the main weight to the leg standing in front, straightening and freeing the back leg. We lower our hands down, touch the floor in line with the legs (with the toes). It turns out asana Ashva - Sanchalanasana - the pose of the rider.

From the previous pose, slowly substitute the back foot to the front. We connect them, put them side by side. The hands remain on the floor, in line with the toes. We align the legs, transfer our hands to the shins, clasping them (or remain in the same position). The head is lowered down, tends to the knees. The back is straight. It turns out Padahastasana - the pose of a stork, or tilt to the legs. Which we have already done.

Then we straighten up, perform the pose of Ardha-Chakrasana - the pose of half the wheel. Slowly unbend the back, starting from the waist. Ending with the neck. Raise your arms slowly up above your head. We connect the palms, lean back, creating a deflection in the lower back. Mentally, you can imagine the Sun above your head, collect the Sun's rays in your hands, distribute them over your body, and smile.

We return to the starting position. Pranamasana is performed - a prayer pose. We distribute the energy of the Sun throughout the body.

Thus ended one circle of the Sun Salutation complex. The full complex contains 2 circles. After that, we repeat all the same exercises, we just begin to perform the complex from the other leg (men - from the right, women from the left). If the spine is strongly straightened, with the formation of kyphosis, it will be necessary to perform 3 circles in a row for correction. The number of circles of this complex can vary from 1 to 27 circles.

Increased cervical lordosis

In the event that the cervical lordosis is increased, its correction is required. The sooner it is started, the easier and faster the pathology will be eliminated. The main means of correcting spinal deformities are physical exercises. Various exercises, their complexes can be used. An example is one of the qigong complexes.

We become straight, arms lowered along the body, feet shoulder-width apart. Feet stand parallel to one another. With an inhalation, we slowly move our hands to the side, while bending our elbows. We imagine that we are a big ball that is filled with clean air and inflates. At the same time, as the arms are moved to the sides, we slowly squat, slightly bending the legs at the knees.

With an exhalation, we bring our hands forward, hold in front of us at the level of the chest, it can be a little lower. We hold it as if we are trying to hug a large ball with our hands. The palms are turned inward. We take a few breaths in and out.

As you exhale, slowly press your hands to your chest, as if pressing and blowing off the ball that was in front of us. On inspiration, we bring our hands forward, pushing the inside of the hand forward. Following the hands, the back leaves, we make a tilt behind the hands. We bend to a position in which the buttocks, back and arms are at the same level. The back should be straight. We stretch the spine forward as much as possible, pull the arms forward. The back goes behind the hands, and the legs are aligned as much as possible at the knees, retracted back. Buttocks, coccyx maximally stretched upwards. When we have reached the maximum stretch, we clap our hands, we go into a downward slope.

As you exhale, lower your arms down and touch the floor. The body also goes down, without forming either a stoop or deflections. The back is straight, hanging down relaxedly, the stomach is pressed to the legs. We squat, mentally collect a small ball with our hands, and slowly begin to lift it up, rising with our whole body. Hands also go up. We imagine that we are rising from the waist. We stand straight, hands continue to move up. We bring our hands together in front of us, forming in front of us, as it were, a “fan”. Through the fingers spread apart to the side, we look ahead. The palms are directed inward, towards you.

Then we make a turn to the side, together with the hands. The legs and hips remain at the same level, the turn is made at the waist. Without lifting the legs from the previous position, we tilt down (to the side), while trying to stretch the opposite side as much as possible. Then we turn our palms outward, away from ourselves, slowly rise up. We try to raise our palms up, and the rest of the body slowly rises behind them. We return to the central position. Repeat the same tilt to the opposite side.

We return to the central position. We hold our hands in front of us. Slowly lower them down, as if pressing them to the floor. Imagine that we have a piston that needs to be pressed into the ground. However, we squat slowly. We press the "piston", descending as much as possible. We imagine that together with this piston, all the dirt, pain, failures, illnesses, negative energy is squeezed out of us and goes into the ground. Then we slowly straighten up, imagining that we are raising strength from the earth, the energy that feeds us. We straighten up completely. We raise our hands above our heads, then slowly lower them to the level of the chest, mentally distributing energy throughout the body. We freely lower our hands down, take a few free breaths and exhale, relax. It was one circle of the complex.

For those who have increased cervical lordosis, you need to perform 3 sets in a row. These complexes can be performed at any time of the day, the number of approaches is not limited.

Direct cervical lordosis

To eliminate direct cervical lordosis, you can recommend a set of exercises presented below. The complex is taken from the system of hatha yoga, somewhat adapted in the author's version. The complex was named "Trikonasan Complex".

First, we perform the classic asana - Trikonasana, or the triangle pose. To do this, we become even, arms along the body, pubescent, legs straight. Then we spread our legs as wide as possible to the sides, we turn one leg perpendicular to the other. Raise your arms to the sides, keep straight (parallel to the floor). Slowly move the hand to the side, pull the body by the hand, leaning to the side. The hand goes in the direction in which the unfolded leg. We reach a certain limit when the body becomes parallel to the floor. The hand falls on the leg, which is perpendicular. The other hand goes up. Thus, the hands should be on one straight line, together with the legs they form a large triangle. We turn our head, look up at the upper hand. We stand in this position for a certain time, while maintaining immobility. It is recommended to start from one minute, gradually increasing the time spent in this position up to 10-15 minutes.

Then we smoothly turn our head, lower both hands down, next to the leg, which stood at a perpendicular angle. We line up: the back should be even, arms at a right angle lowered down, legs apart, forming a triangle. Then slowly hug the leg that is in front with your hand. We try to lie on the leg with the whole body, clinging to it as much as possible. We press the stomach, chest, forehead to the leg, hug the shins with our hands, stretch the legs and the hip joint as much as possible. We are in this position from 1 to 15 minutes.

We are in the position described above. With the second leg, which is located behind, we try to sit down as much as possible. This will allow you to stretch the surface of the front leg as much as possible. After that, we relax, we leave the next position.

Then we lower one hand behind the leg, which is perpendicular. We raise the second hand up, turn the body so that the hands are on the same line, the legs form a triangle. The exercise is similar to the classic Trikonasana, with the difference that the turn is carried out in the opposite direction. We are sort of twisting.

Slowly turn back to the previous position.

We turn the torso forward, the legs are as far apart as possible. We lean forward, trying to put our hands on the floor in front of us. We lean forward as much as possible, stretching the back surface of the legs. We do the slope from the hips, from the lower back, as if folding in the hip joint. At the same time, we try to bend as low as possible, if it turns out, it’s better to put your hands on your forearms.

Being in the previous position, we try to go as far as possible into the slope, hiding the head between the legs. We stretch our hands back, by the legs, to the heels. If possible, the head can be put on the crown, transferring the main weight to the head.

Then we move to a flat position, in which the legs are spread as wide as possible, the back is horizontal in the slope, parallel to the floor, the hands are on the ground at a right angle. Body weight is evenly distributed among all parts of the body. Gradually transfer the main weight back to the legs. We stretch our hands forward, as much as possible, as far as possible. We pull the legs back, the tailbone up, and the arms forward. The back and spine should stretch as much as possible, stretching along with the spine. We return to the previous even position, evenly distribute the weight throughout the body, relax.

We bring the legs together, connect them. The hips, knees, shins, feet should be connected, we lean forward, trying to lie as much as possible with the chest, stomach, forehead on the legs. We wrap our arms around the shins (pose of the Stork, Padahastasana). Then we slowly rise up, unbending the back vertebra by vertebra, starting from the lower back, ending with the cervical region.

We stand straight, take a few deep breaths and exhale, after which we repeat the same sequence in the other direction.

In addition to this complex, separate auxiliary exercises can be added.

  1. We squat on one leg, take the other to the side. Then gradually transfer the weight from one side to the other, without straightening at the same time. The transition is carried out in a squat. We repeat the exercise at least 10 times, the maximum is unlimited.
  2. We approach the gymnastic wall (can be replaced with a chair, an ordinary bed). We put one foot on it, while the second remains flat. Both legs are straight, stretched at the knee. We bend to a flat leg, as low as possible. If it works, we lower our hands, and even our forearms to the floor. We try to stretch the leg that is at the top as much as possible. If necessary, enhance the effect, squat down with a flat foot. At the same time, we try to freely lower the neck down, relaxing it as much as possible. The spine stretches down, as if stretching in different directions between the coccyx and the head.
  3. We put our legs as wide as possible. We spread our hands to the sides. We lower one hand down, touch the ground. Raise the other hand up so that it forms a straight line with the other leg. Raise the leg opposite the lowered arm so that it is parallel to the floor. There should be a 90 degree angle between the legs. We are in this position for 1 - 10 minutes, slowly exit.

If you have a direct cervical lordosis, you need to perform 1-3 circles in one approach, while relaxing the neck as much as possible and stretching the spine.

Complications and consequences

An improperly formed cervical lordosis can have adverse consequences and complications. For example, even lordosis significantly increases the load on the spine. In this form, it cannot act as a shock-absorbing factor, as a result of which various diseases of the spine develop, the function of the spinal cord, spinal roots, and the entire peripheral nervous system is impaired, and the sensitivity of nerve receptors decreases. Violations in the cervical region can lead to impaired blood circulation, innervation of the departments located behind the neck. First of all, the brain suffers: it does not receive the proper level of oxygen, metabolites are not excreted. As a result, hypoxia, hypercapnia, trophic processes develop, the tendency to thrombosis increases, which increases the risk of developing thrombosis, atherosclerosis, stroke, and hypertension.

It should also be taken into account that kyphotization of lordosis can lead to the creation of pressure, a mechanical effect on the organs of the chest, nasopharynx, and pharynx. The function of the thyroid gland, vocal cords, salivary glands is disturbed. Since the thyroid gland belongs to the endocrine glands, a violation of its structural and functional characteristics entails a violation of the hormonal background in general, the development of a number of endocrine pathologies.

Violated endurance, human performance, reduced immunity. Often develop and numerous concomitant disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

Diagnostics of the cervical lordosis

In order to diagnose cervical lordosis, you need to contact an orthopedist or surgeon. They will conduct a general examination, palpation of the back and cervical region, palpate the spine for deformities, pain. If the picture is not clear, the person may perform some exercises (functional tests). They judge the state of lordosis, the spine as a whole. If there is insufficient information, additional diagnostics may be required using special equipment, such as x-rays, tomography. If you need to consult a vertebrologist or an osteopath for advice, the doctor will give a referral. Additionally, the doctor can check reflexes, conduct segmental-reflex diagnostics (by pressing on individual segments of the spine).

Instrumental diagnostics

The main method of making a diagnosis in the diagnosis of cervical lordosis is instrumental diagnostics. The most commonly used methods are X-ray, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. These methods allow you to visualize the picture of the pathology, to examine both the spine as a whole and its individual sections. Also, these methods allow you to assess the condition of bones, vertebrae, soft tissues, and sometimes even nearby vessels and nerves.

X-ray

X-ray is the main method for diagnosing cervical lordosis. The doctor can feel the area of the pathology, assess the localization of lordosis, assess the approximate state of organs and tissues, the spinal column. But in order to obtain detailed information, to have accurate characteristics of the cervical region, the lordosis itself, it is necessary to conduct an X-ray examination, with the help of which an image can be obtained either of the spine as a whole, or only of its individual fragment. According to the radiograph, the angle of deviation, the size of the lordosis are assessed, its exact localization is determined, and which vertebrae are involved in the pathological process. It is also possible to assess whether there is damage to surrounding tissues, whether there is an inflammatory process, whether nerves, blood vessels, or the spinal cord are pinched. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the results of the radiograph, it is possible to select the appropriate treatment, which will be aimed directly at eliminating the identified violations and preventing possible complications.

Differential diagnosis

One of the main stages of diagnosis is differential diagnosis. This is a very important step that should never be ignored. It is on how accurately the diagnosis is made, how it will be differentiated from other similar diseases, that the course of further treatment and its effectiveness depend. Differential diagnosis is a sequence of actions aimed at differentiating various types of pathology. Often the diseases are different, but they manifest themselves in the same way, so it is important to clearly distinguish between them.

In the course of the differential diagnosis of cervical lordosis, mainly instrumental research methods are used, the main of which is X-ray.

Cervical osteochondrosis

Cervical osteochondrosis and lordosis are often confused. These diseases can be outwardly very similar, but with in-depth diagnosis, a fundamental difference is found. As a rule, in order to make an accurate diagnosis, an X-ray examination or other imaging methods are required to assess the condition of the spine, especially its cervical region. On palpation and visual examination, the doctor discovers an approximately similar clinical picture - there is an excessive, pathological bending of the spine in the cervical region. At the same time, a detailed analysis of the causes of the development of pathology shows that osteochondrosis occurs as a result of salt and mineral deposits in the spine. That is, in fact, osteochondrosis is a growth on the spine. Whereas lordosis is an irregular bend, deformation of the spinal column itself. On the radiograph, the difference between these diseases is clearly visible. Accordingly, the methods of treatment will be different.

Disc protrusions

One of the most serious diseases of the spine are disc protrusions. They can develop as a complication of cervical lordosis. If there are no physiological curves, or they are formed incorrectly, there is no compensation for movements, their depreciation. Accordingly, the disks seem to wear out, experiencing an increased load. An inflammatory process may develop, pinching the disc. The disease is accompanied by pain, discomfort, inability to make some movements. Careful diagnosis and treatment are required. As a rule, osteopathy is used for disc protrusion, less often massage, dosed physical activity. With severe pain, medication, painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs are required. Sometimes, in the most severe cases, surgery is required.

Treatment of the cervical lordosis

The treatment of cervical lordosis is based on two principles: correct diagnosis and timely detection of pathology, and adequate development of a treatment program. The treatment program must necessarily include physical exercises in the daily routine. No treatment will be effective if it is not supported by exercise. Physiotherapy exercises, adaptive sports, special exercises for the spine, traditional and non-traditional health systems are used, focused both on the complex restoration of the body, and on the impact directly on the spine. Massage is required. At the same time, it is important to provide the correct and dosed effect on the desired areas. This will allow you to control the condition, to have a therapeutic effect. Massage, special hydroprocedures, aids are also prescribed.

Often lordosis is accompanied by complications and comorbidities, so it is recommended to use complex treatment. As for complex therapy, it is recommended to include etiological treatment in it, that is, treatment aimed directly at eliminating the cause of the pathology. For example, anti-inflammatory drugs are used to eliminate inflammation, painkillers aimed at relieving pain. Physiotherapeutic methods and manual therapy are also used. [9]

Which doctor treats cervical lordosis?

Often, faced with lordosis, the patient has a question: “Which doctor treats cervical lordosis?”. Let's figure it out. Firstly, you can always, in any situation, contact a local therapist or a pediatrician who will conduct an initial examination and, if necessary, refer you for a consultation with the appropriate specialist. Secondly, there are individual specialists who deal with problems related to the musculoskeletal system - an orthopedist, a surgeon. They can advise, diagnose, choose the appropriate treatment. Sometimes, in more severe cases, it may be necessary to consult more narrowly qualified specialists. They are usually referred by an orthopedist or surgeon, if such a need really exists. This is, for example, a vertebrologist who specializes in spinal diseases, or an osteopath who specializes in bone diseases.

Physiotherapy treatment

Sometimes, in addition to the main methods of treatment, physiotherapy is prescribed for cervical lordosis. It is justified as part of complex treatment, but not rational as a monotherapy. Most often, ultrasound treatment, exposure to microcurrents and waves of various lengths are used to eliminate lordosis. One of the methods of treatment is electrophoresis (mainly with the help of this method calcium and magnesium preparations are administered, which may be lacking in lordosis). Also, with the help of electrophoresis, some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs are administered. Thermal procedures, electroprocedures, light procedures have a positive effect. Often they are prescribed in combination. [10]

Exercises for cervical lordosis

Physical exercises for cervical lordosis is one of the main methods of influence. No therapy will be effective without exercise. Exercise should be done regularly, one or more times a day. Better at the same time. It is better to seek advice from a physiotherapy doctor, who will select the exercises that are suitable in each case, and teach the technique of their implementation. If such consultation is not possible, you can choose the exercises yourself. Below are 5 basic exercises that are most often prescribed for lordosis.

  • Exercise number 1.

Sit up straight. Try to straighten your spine as evenly as possible, so that the lower back, shoulder blades, and neck are in line. At the back, try to bring the shoulder blades together as much as possible, and then lower them down. In order to check the evenness of the back, lean against the wall. Try to relax as much as possible, sit in this position for at least 5-10 minutes. It's better to cover your eyes. Also try to move away from the outside world as much as possible, do not think about anything.

  • Exercise number 2.

Performed in a supine position. First you need to lie down, relax as much as possible. Take a few deep breaths in and out. Bend your knees. Put your hands apart, at the sides. Press the shoulder blades to the floor as much as possible. Then lower both legs first to the left, then to the right. At the same time, you need to carefully ensure that neither the hands nor the shoulder blades come off the floor. Repeat the exercises 15 times on each side.

  • Exercise number 3.

Stand straight, press your legs against each other, feet are also tightly pressed. Slowly raise your hands up. Connect them into a castle above your head. Stand in this position for 1 to 10 minutes (the exercise time should be increased gradually).

  • Exercise number 4.

From the position described above, spread your arms to the sides. Keep your back straight, try to stretch your spine as much as possible to the sides. Keep your arms parallel to the floor, legs tightly pressed against each other. You need to start this exercise from 1 minute, gradually bringing its duration to 10-15 minutes.

  • Exercise number 5.

Gymnastics

Today, various types of gymnastics are widely used in the treatment of various diseases. So, fitball gymnastics, stretching gymnastics, body gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, psycho-gymnastics are widely used.

One of the modern, recently emerging areas is psycho-gymnastics. This is one of the elements of body-oriented therapy. Gymnastics proceeds from the assumption that any problem at the physical level arises as a result of unresolved mental and emotional problems, stress, and mental trauma. Therefore, until we find and work through the original cause (emotional trauma, clamp), the problem will not be solved. From the point of view of psycho-gymnastics, any kind of physical exercise fights the consequences, but does not eliminate the causes of the pathology, therefore, they often turn out to be ineffective.

Consider step by step the algorithm for conducting psycho-gymnastics.

  • Step 1. First you should sit comfortably, relax, close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths in and out, balancing your breath. After that, we press with two fingers of the left hand on the first eye point on the left. We track the charges that emerge at the same time (in the form of thoughts, sensations, emotions). We try to work out each charge, taking a deep breath, exhaling. We choose the case that causes the most unpleasant sensations, we begin to work it out.
  • Step 2. We carefully listen to all the pop-up moments, choose the most vivid and significant (with a negative connotation). We fix this moment in memory (as if we pause the video recording). We stop our attention on this moment, and we carry out further work only with this episode. You also need to fix in memory the moment in time at which this unpleasant moment occurs, and stop at this time.
  • Step 3. We restore the picture in memory as completely as possible, acting as if from a third person (as if at this moment we are looking at what is happening from the side). We try to remember as accurately and in detail as possible all the sensations that arise in connection with this state. We keep our fingers on the point, continuing to activate it.
  • Step 4. We try to feel in as much detail as possible the emotions that we had directly at that moment. He also tries to feel in which part of the body these emotions remain.
  • Step 5. We are directly at the moment when the problem arose. We realize what bodily sensations accompanied this moment.
  • Step 6. Now we are most clearly aware of the thoughts that arose in connection with this situation. After we have realized emotions, thoughts and bodily sensations, we lower our hand. We put the other hand on the same point, only to the right. While switching, we take several deep breaths and exhalations.
  • Step 7. With two fingers of the right hand, massage the first right eye point. We close our eyes. We choose, similarly to the previous case, a positive situation from the past. If nothing comes from the past, we are aware of ourselves here and now.
  • Step 8. We look at the situation and choose from it the brightest and most positive moment that is firmly fixed in memory, evokes positive emotions. We press on the brightest moment “pause”, we fix attention. If we are working with the current situation, this step is skipped.
  • Step 9. As with the previous situation, we determine what emotions, thoughts, sensations accompanied this situation. We fix the moment.
  • Step 10. Again we switch our attention to the left point.
  • Step 11. We look at the negative situation of the past, we realize whether there have been any changes, is it perceived differently? The main thing is not to make an effort to change the picture. We just monitor and understand the situation as it is. We observe passively, as if from the outside.
  • Step 12. We direct attention to the emotions that accompany this negative situation, and monitor if there have been any changes.
  • Step 13. We turn our attention to bodily sensations, and see if there have been any changes in them?
  • Step 14. Pay attention to thoughts, track if they have changed?
  • Step 15. Again we switch to the right point, where there was a positive situation. Take the deepest breath in and out. We are aware of the positive situation, we monitor the picture.
  • Step 16. We direct attention to the whole situation as a whole, we monitor whether there have been any changes. We look at how our emotions, bodily sensations, thoughts have changed.
  • Step 17. Switch to the left point, to the negative situation. We monitor whether there have been any changes (usually after each switch, the picture of the negative situation becomes dimmer, and subsequently disappears completely).
  • Step 18. Returning to the right side, we are aware of the positive situation.
  • Step 19. Continue switching from the right side to the left until both pictures completely disappear. Thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations associated with these situations should fade, and then completely disappear. The practice is considered completed if both pictures have disappeared and there is no difference in perception at the two points. With each switch, we take the deepest possible breath, the deepest exhalation.
  • Step 20. We return to the negative situation, and evaluate whether there are any emotions left in relation to this situation. For example, if we experienced anger, we check if there is aggression, anger at the ill-wisher. If we worked with resentment, we check if there is resentment.

Only after working through emotional traumas, you can proceed to perform any physical exercises.

Massage for cervical lordosis

With cervical lordosis, massage is used. Classical massage is traditionally applied. Nevertheless, as practice shows, great success can be achieved through segmental reflex massage, reflexology, acupuncture, acupressure (shiatsu), and vertebral effects.

The massage of the cervical-collar zone is carried out mainly. Also, attention is paid to the massage of the paravertebral muscles located along the spine, intervertebral discs are being worked out. In the treatment of lordosis, various types of massage are used: psychosomatic, holistic, bioenergetic, aromatherapy, relaxing, sports. Various authorial restorative techniques are widely used, for example, Laying, Laying, Dance of Fire, Dance of the Black Lynx. Honey massage is applied. In addition to mechanical effects, the effect is enhanced by the healing properties of honey. Thermal or contrast massage, wraps, massage in the bath are also used. Bath massage is especially useful, as it allows you to work out steamed muscles as deeply as possible.

Surgery

As a rule, in the treatment of lordosis, surgical methods are not used. Basically, the treatment is traditional, complex (includes medicines, physiotherapy, physiotherapy exercises, massage, swimming). Surgical treatment is resorted to as a last resort, if there are no other options. You also need to first make sure that other methods of treatment are ineffective. Surgical methods can be used if there is an infringement of the nerve, sections of the spinal cord, disc protrusion is diagnosed, a purulent-septic process develops, and progressive inflammation develops. Emergency intervention is required for tissue decomposition, necrosis (tissue death).

Elective surgeries are carried out with myositis, nerve compression, tumors, hematomas (especially if they reach large sizes), spinal hernias. Also, a planned operation can be performed if there is a displacement of the vertebrae, and they put pressure on the internal organs, with damage to the intervertebral discs, accumulation of pus, fluid, exudate, with the development of lipomas (wen).

Prevention

Prevention is based on a rational motor mode, high physical activity, as well as maintaining the correct posture while sitting, standing, sleeping. If necessary, special orthopedic mattresses and pillows should be used. It is necessary to regularly exercise, walk in the fresh air.

Equally important is proper nutrition, consumption of food rich in vitamins and minerals. In the presence of lordosis, or other pathologies of the spine in history, you should periodically undergo preventive courses of treatment, including courses of massage, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy.

Forecast

In most cases, cervical lordosis is treatable. But recovery is possible only if you follow all the recommendations of the doctor. The lifestyle that the patient leads is also important. It is necessary to regularly engage in physical culture, breathing practices, to be able to relax properly. But, you need to understand that sometimes lordosis is a sign of the musculoskeletal system. Therefore, timely diagnosis is important, since not all diseases have a favorable prognosis. Many can end with disability, paralysis.

Cervical lordosis straightened and army

One of the main questions - if the cervical lordosis is straightened, the army is a contraindication. It is impossible to answer this question unambiguously, since in any case the decision is made by the medical commission that receives the recruit. The decision is made based on many factors. The results of the examination, functional tests, additional studies are taken into account. Almost always x-rays are taken. It also takes into account how limited the physical capabilities of the conscript are. There are cases in which with such a diagnosis they are taken into the army. However, in severe cases that limit opportunities, this diagnosis may be the reason for recognizing the recruit as unfit for military service.
