Symptoms of idiopathic telangiectasias

Telangiectasias are usually asymptomatic. However, some patients report a burning or painful sensation, and many women find even small telangiectasias cosmetically unacceptable.

What do need to examine?

Treatment of idiopathic telangiectasias

Telangiectasias can be treated with intracapillary injections of 0.3% sodium tetradecyl sulfate through a very fine needle. Hypertonic 23.4% sodium chloride is also sometimes used, but it causes quite severe temporary limited pain. Large lesions or telangiectasias may require several treatment stages. Pigmentation is possible, but usually disappears, often completely. If the sclerosing agent is injected past the vessel or is too large, it may cause a skin ulcer. Laser treatment is effective, but if the area of changes is large, several treatment stages may be necessary. Small telangiectasias may persist or recur after the first treatment session.
