Pharmachologic effect
Indications Hexavita
It is used in the following cases:
- in the elimination of hypovitaminosis in adults and children, and at the same time as a preventive measure against the development of this pathology;
- for people whose profession requires increased visual acuity (for public transport drivers, pilots, and operators working on cranes);
- to strengthen the body's immunity against colds and infections during various epidemics;
- during prolonged treatment with antibiotics.
Release form
Released in the form of dragees, 50 pieces in jars, 1 jar in a separate pack. It can also be released in bags containing 1 kg of medicinal dragees.
Pharmacodynamics
A multivitamin preparation, the effect of which is due to the presence of various vitamins. They participate in metabolic processes that regulate homeostasis (both in a healthy state of the body and in illness). Due to the fact that vitamins are presented in a complex, a more diverse and pronounced biological effect from their impact is observed.
The substance retinol helps the development of epithelial cells and also promotes the processes of binding visual pigment.
Thiamine restores the functions of the digestive system, as well as the cardiovascular and nervous systems.
The component riboflavin is an important participant in the metabolism of fats and proteins with carbohydrates, and in addition, it restores skin functions and maintains visual acuity at the required level.
Vitamin nicotinamide is a specific anti-pellagra substance that helps improve carbohydrate metabolism.
The substance pyridoxine is required for healing skin and liver cells, and also for restoring the function of the nervous system. Along with this, the vitamin helps improve fat metabolism, which develops with atherosclerosis.
Ascorbic acid is very important in regulating oxidation-reduction processes, and in addition to this, in blood clotting, carbohydrate metabolism, tissue healing, the formation of steroid hormones and connective tissue elements, as well as the normalization of capillary permeability. The substance also enhances the body's immune response to infections.
Pharmacokinetics
Water-soluble vitamins (from category B, as well as ascorbic acid) are well absorbed in the amount that corresponds to the daily norm required by the body. The remains of the substance are excreted in the urine, and sometimes also in the feces. These vitamins are stored in the body in extremely limited quantities, as a result of which it is necessary to regularly receive them with food to maintain the required level in the tissues.
In the presence of fats, retinol taken orally (this is a fat-soluble vitamin) is well absorbed through the small intestine.
Dosing and administration
The pills are taken orally, after meals.
To prevent the development of hypovitaminosis in adults, it is necessary to take 1 tablet per day, and for treatment - 1 tablet three times a day.
For prevention in pregnant women (in the 2nd-3rd trimester) and nursing women - take 1 pill once a day (no more). The duration of therapy is prescribed by the doctor individually.
For treatment of children over 14 years of age, the medicine must be taken once a day in the amount of 1 dragee.
Hexavit is taken for a period of 30 days (this course should be repeated 2-3 times a year), although the duration of treatment and the frequency of repetition of therapy depend on the patient's individual indications, as well as on his age, as well as the type of disease and its severity.

Use Hexavita during pregnancy
The use of Hexavit during lactation or pregnancy is permitted only if the likelihood of benefit to the woman is higher than the possibility of negative reactions in the child/fetus.
For pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant, the dosage of retinol can be a maximum of 5000 IU.
In the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, as well as during lactation, the medicine may be taken solely for preventive purposes (and only with the doctor's prescription and under his supervision) in a dosage of maximum 1 pill per day. It is prohibited to use Hexavit in therapeutic dosages for nursing and pregnant women.

- hypersensitivity to drug components;
- severe disorders of the kidneys or liver;
- nephrolithiasis with hyperuricemia and gout;
- active form of hepatitis;
- thromboembolism and thrombophlebitis with thrombosis;
- malabsorption syndrome, as well as fructosemia;
- severely elevated blood pressure;
- hypervitaminosis A;
- aggravated ulcerative pathologies in the duodenum or stomach;
- history of sarcoidosis;
- chronic form of glomerulonephritis;

Side effects Hexavita
Hexavit is often tolerated without complications, but the following side effects may occasionally occur:
- immune disorders: people with drug intolerance may develop allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and Quincke's edema;
- disorders in the functioning of the cardiovascular system: increased blood pressure;
- reactions of the skin and subcutaneous tissues: itching and rashes with urticaria, as well as dryness of the mucous membranes of the eyes or skin, as well as redness of the skin. Bronchial spasms are occasionally observed - in people with intolerance to vitamins from the B, C, and A categories;
- gastrointestinal manifestations: vomiting, dyspeptic symptoms, stomach pain, belching, nausea, diarrhea, increased secretion of gastric juice and constipation;
- reactions in the nervous system: dizziness, hot flashes (which may cause a feeling of heart palpitations), headaches, hyperhidrosis and sleep problems. In addition, a feeling of drowsiness, fatigue, increased excitability and irritability may occur;
- metabolic disorders: development of glucosuria or crystalluria;
- problems with the circulatory system and lymph: blood clotting disorders, as well as erythrocyte hemolysis in people with a deficiency of the G6PD element;
- Others: visual impairment, yellowing of urine, and development of hyperthermia may be observed;
Long-term intake of vitamins in high doses: glucose intolerance, copper or zinc metabolism disorders, and anorexia with hyperglycemia may develop. Convulsions, gastrointestinal disorders (including mucosal irritation), erythrocytopenia, arrhythmia, and neutrophilic leukocytosis may occur. There is a decrease in blood pressure, a temporary increase in the activity of alkaline phosphatase and LDH with AST, electrolyte imbalance and renal function disorders, cracks and dryness in the area of the feet and palms, hyperpigmentation, and seborrheic rash. Kidney failure, myalgia, alopecia, jaundice, myopathy, and fatty liver dystrophy may develop.
Overdose
Overdose may result in dyspeptic symptoms (epigastric pain, and along with this vomiting with diarrhea and nausea), signs of allergy (skin rash and itching), as well as changes in the hair and skin, liver disorders, facial hyperemia, headaches and a feeling of lethargy, irritability or drowsiness. In case of such manifestations, it is necessary to stop using the drug.
Treatment is aimed at eliminating the symptoms of the disorder. As a result of prolonged intake of ascorbic acid in high doses, suppression of the activity of the insular apparatus in the pancreas area may be observed, as well as a change in the processes of excretion of uric and ascorbic acids during acetylation of urine. As a result, there is a risk that oxalate-type stones may precipitate.
Interactions with other drugs
Retinol weakens the anti-inflammatory properties of glucocorticoids. It is forbidden to use it in combination with cholestyramine, as well as nitrites, as they disrupt the absorption of the substance. In addition, retinol is prohibited to take together with retinoids, because such a combination is toxic.
Due to the risk of developing hypervitaminosis type A, it is prohibited to combine with other drugs containing retinol.
Ascorbic acid potentiates the toxic properties and effectiveness of sulfonamides (crystalluria may develop), as well as penicillin. In addition, it enhances the absorption of iron with aluminum (therefore, it is necessary to combine it with aluminum-containing antacids with caution) and weakens the effectiveness of indirect anticoagulants and heparin. The drug in high doses weakens the therapeutic properties of tricyclics with neuroleptics (phenothiazine derivatives), as well as the processes of reabsorption of the substance amphetamine inside the tubules. In addition, Hexavit disrupts the renal excretion of mexiletine.
Ascorbic acid may be consumed no earlier than 2 hours after the injection of deferoxamine.
Long-term use of the vitamin complex in high doses weakens the effectiveness of therapy with disulfiram.
Vitamin C increases the overall ethanol clearance rate. It also increases the secretion of oxalates in urine and increases the likelihood of crystalluria when using salicylates.
The absorption of ascorbic acid is reduced in case of combination with oral contraception, as well as with vegetable or fruit juices and alkaline drinks.
Thiamine can influence the polarization within the synapses of muscles and nerve endings, as a result of which it can reduce the curare-like effect of muscle relaxants.
Riboflavin is incompatible with streptomycin and also reduces the effect of antibacterial drugs (such as doxycycline with oxytetracycline and lincomycin, as well as tetracycline and erythromycin). Amitriptyline with tricyclics and imipramine slow down the processes of riboflavin metabolism (especially in cardiac tissue).
Pyridoxine reduces the effectiveness of levodopa, and in addition prevents or reduces the toxicity of isoniazid and other anti-tuberculosis drugs.
When niacin is combined with the substance lovastatin, rhabdomyolysis may sometimes develop.
Storage conditions
Hexavit should be kept in a place inaccessible to children. Temperature values – no more than 25°C.
