It should be said that bronchitis is a rather difficult disease to treat and the use of one of the herbs effective for this pathology often does not give the desired result. After all, each organism is individual and its reaction to a specific herb may differ from the generally accepted one. And it is not at all a matter of individual intolerance, but of the lack of effect from taking a specific herb or plant.

Sometimes even those plants, the healing power of which even inveterate skeptics and doctors do not doubt, do not help. And it is not for nothing that on the shelves of pharmacies, along with herbal monopreparations (grass, flowers or rhizomes of grass, alcohol tinctures of medicinal plants), there are always several boxes with herbal mixtures, which are often called chest mixtures. They are called chest because they are intended for the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases, i.e. pathologies of organs located in the chest area (bronchi, trachea, lungs, etc.).

Such useful collections can be purchased at any pharmacy, but you can also make them yourself if you have herbs that are useful for bronchitis, which we wrote about above. The composition of the herbal collection for bronchitis may include herbs with anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects. As a rule, the same herb has several useful effects at once, for example, anti-inflammatory, sedative, expectorant and bactericidal.

When choosing herbs for a chest collection, you need to consider what kind of cough it will be used for and what problems it needs to solve. For example, if we are talking about acute bronchitis, you need to clarify the nature of the cough, which changes depending on the stage of the disease. The disease begins with a dry, exhausting cough, when the bronchi are already irritated by bacteria or viruses, but there is not enough mucus to remove irritants. In this case, herbal collections for acute bronchitis should contain components with anti-inflammatory, mucolytic and expectorant effects.

For example, a composition such as horsetail, plantain and coltsfoot (all herbs are taken in equal parts) has 3 components with expectorant and anti-inflammatory action, and plantain and coltsfoot are also mucolytics, i.e. they thin phlegm and increase its volume. This composition helps well with dry cough. For 1.5 cups of boiling water, take only 1.5 tbsp. of the collection, infuse it for half an hour, filter the medicine and take hot three times a day. A single dose is ½ cup.

Or here is another collection that will be useful for dry cough. It can also be used for unproductive wet cough in the second stage of acute bronchitis, if excessively viscous secretion accumulates in the bronchi. Collection composition: 1 tbsp. wild rosemary herb, 2 tbsp. coltsfoot herb and flowers, 2 tbsp. dry marshmallow root. For 0.5 liters of boiling water, take 1 tsp. of the collection, boil for 5 minutes over low heat and leave for at least another 30 minutes. This decoction should be taken ½ cup before meals. Frequency of administration - 5 times a day.

The following mixture also has a good expectorant effect: marshmallow root (20 g), oregano (10 g), coltsfoot (5 g). Take 2 tablespoons of the herbal mixture per 2 cups of boiling water, leave in a warm place for at least two hours, then strain and drink half a glass 4 times a day.

Also, for acute bronchitis, you can try to treat it with the following composition: birch leaves or buds and oregano (1 part each), wild rosemary, chamomile and coltsfoot (2 parts each). For 1 glass of boiling water, take 1 tbsp of the herbal mixture. Boil the composition for 10 minutes, cover with a lid and leave to brew for another 30 minutes. Take the decoction half an hour after eating. Drink a glass of decoction in three doses per day.

To relieve a strong cough and facilitate the removal of phlegm from the bronchi, you can use the following mixture: lungwort (herb and roots), marshmallow (roots), nettle (leaves), mullein (flowers). The herbs should be taken in equal quantities. Take 2 tablespoons of the herbal mixture for 2 cups of boiling water. Let the mixture brew for about 20 minutes. Add a little honey to the infusion before use. Take the medicine before meals three times a day. A single dose for adults is ½ cup, for children - ¼ cup.

Herbal infusions will also be useful for obstructive bronchitis. Such herbal compositions should contain herbs with bronchodilatory and antispasmodic effects. Let's look at examples of such infusions.

Dry, spasmodic cough and asthma attacks in obstructive bronchitis can be relieved with the help of this mixture, which includes: primrose flowers (40 g), horsetail grass (30 g), plantain leaves (20 g) and coltsfoot grass (10 g). Take 1 tbsp of the mixture per glass of boiling water. Keep the mixture in a water bath for a quarter of an hour and then leave it at room temperature for another 45-50 minutes. Drink the mixture in 4-5 doses.

Here is another collection that is recommended for bronchial obstruction and allergic bronchitis: marjoram, lungwort, goutweed, crushed aloe leaf are taken in equal quantities. For 2 cups of boiling water, take 1.5 tbsp of the herbal mixture, insist the composition for 10 minutes and filter. Drink the medicine 4 times a day. A single dose is ½ cup.

The collection is also suitable for treating children, but in this case the single dose should be no more than ¼ glass.

Since allergic bronchitis and bronchial asthma have much in common, the same herbal mixtures can be used to treat both pathologies. The main thing is that they do not contain herbs that can cause an allergic reaction, in which the cough will intensify, and broncho-obstructive syndrome is possible. In principle, obstructive bronchitis, which has some similarity in symptoms with asthma, is also treated with these same mixtures.

  • Collection No. 1. Collections with thyme are very effective for obstructive bronchitis, because the plant has pronounced bronchodilator properties: eucalyptus (herb, not oil), thyme, coltsfoot. Take the herbs in equal proportions. For 1 cup of boiling water, take, as usual, 1 tbsp. of the herbal mixture, leave for 15-20 minutes and drink a little instead of tea.
  • Collection No. 2: wild rosemary herb and nettle leaves, taken in a 2:1 ratio. Brew 15 g of the herbal mixture with 0.5 l of boiling water and leave to infuse overnight. After 12 hours, strain the mixture and take half a glass 4 times a day.
  • Collection No. 3: wild rosemary herb (100 g), chamomile flowers (100 g), birch buds (30 g), ephedra or Kuzmicheva grass (20 g). The composition includes ephedra (also known as two-spike ephedra), which is used in Eastern medicine for asthma and bronchial obstruction as a means of expanding the lumen of the bronchi due to the content of ephedrine and reducing the secretion of sputum. For 2 cups of boiling water, take 2 tbsp. of the herbal collection, leave for at least 6 hours, then strain and take three times a day, ½ cup. The composition should be taken warm before meals.

For chronic bronchitis during periods of exacerbation, as well as for their prevention, you can take the following collection: wild rosemary (40 g), oregano (20 g), nettle (10 g), birch buds (10 g). For 1 liter of water, take 1 tbsp. of the herbal mixture. Boil the composition for ten minutes, then leave it to brew for another hour. You need to take the decoction after meals three times a day. A single dose is 1/3 cup.

Among other things, it will be useful to stock up on linden blossom, as well as young shoots and berries of currants and raspberries (raw jam, dried and frozen fruits). These supplies will be very useful for various colds, including bronchitis. By mixing all these plants in equal quantities, you can get a healing mixture that has a general tonic, immunostimulating, diaphoretic, antipyretic and expectorant effect. It will help quickly cope with a cough and other cold symptoms.

For 1 glass of boiling water take 2 tbsp of the mixture, infuse the composition for an hour or more, strain and drink as a delicious vitamin tea at night. To improve the taste and effect, you can add 1 tsp of honey to the drink.

A good antipyretic and expectorant can be considered a mixture of currants and raspberries, which will help fight bronchitis in its early stages and will not allow the disease to become chronic.

All the above recipes for the collections can be made independently from herbs prepared in advance or purchased at a pharmacy or market. But herbal collections for bronchitis for easier expectoration of phlegm can also be purchased at a pharmacy. We are talking about chest collections, the existence of which we have already mentioned above.

In pharmacies you can find 4 types of breast collections, which differ in numbering, composition, action and method of preparation:

  1. marshmallow root, oregano, coltsfoot leaves (take 1 tbsp of the mixture per 1 glass of water, boil for a quarter of an hour in a water bath, then leave for about 45-50 minutes, add boiled water until the glass is full and take 2 or 3 times a day for half a glass),
  2. licorice root, plantain leaves and coltsfoot (the preparation method is identical, but the frequency of administration can be increased to 4 times a day)
  3. marshmallow root, sage, anise, pine buds (the preparation method is identical, but for 1 glass of water take 2 tbsp of herbal mixture, the water is taken immediately hot)
  4. licorice root, violet, mint, chamomile and calendula (the method of preparation and dosage are similar to breast collection No. 3, but the single dose is reduced to 1/3 cup).

The first herbs of the first 3 chest collections have anti-inflammatory and expectorant effects, so they are recommended for bronchitis and pneumonia. The fourth collection is also characterized by an antispasmodic effect, which means it can also be used in the treatment of bronchial asthma. It will also be useful for obstructive bronchitis.

Monastic collection for bronchitis

Since we are talking about pharmaceutical preparations containing effective herbs for bronchitis, it would be useful to mention the most ancient recipes recognized by therapists and pulmonologists. One of these recipes is imprinted in a preparation called "Father George's Monastic Collection", which is actively distributed on the Internet. By the way, you should order it only from an official representative, otherwise there is a high risk of getting a fake.

The monastery collection has a long history. And the composition of the monastery collection herbs for bronchitis was developed not only by monks, but also by ordinary people from the North. The lack of antibiotics and other effective drugs for colds and infections forced people to look for other sources of fighting diseases, and the most accessible of them turned out to be herbs.

The full composition of the monastery collection was developed by trial and error for many years until it was brought to perfection. It was this collection that was used to treat various diseases within the walls of the monasteries of Ancient Rus'. But over time, even very important things and moments are undeservedly forgotten. This is what happened with the monastery collection. Fortunately, there are always caring people who are ready to restore, bit by bit, ancient recipes that saved the lives of many patients.

Among such caring people was the Archimandrite of the Holy Spirit Timashevsky Monastery, located in the vastness of the Krasnodar Territory, the famous herbalist Father Georgy. All components of the unusually effective herbal collection were restored by him at the end of the twentieth century and submitted to the judgment of the luminaries of traditional medicine.

Laboratory studies of the monastery collection, conducted after the death of the archimandrite (2013-2014), proved the ecological purity and high efficiency of the herbs included in the composition in the treatment of various diseases. But Father Georgy considered the main, invisible components of the collection to be faith in healing, prayers and repentance, without which an effective fight against the disease is simply impossible.

Inveterate atheists may doubt the truth of these words, but the proof will be the "placebo" effect. If a person believes in his recovery, his body will believe too. Faith activates the internal forces of the body, and prayer and repentance give peace. After all, everyone knows that anxiety and nervousness do not contribute to recovery. So it is not a matter of religious prejudices, but of physiological processes controlled by the nervous system.

It is clear that the monastery collection cannot be considered a panacea for severe forms of bacterial bronchitis, especially those caused by a non-specific pathogen, but in case of uncomplicated viral infection it can be used even as part of monotherapy, since the herbs in the collection (and there are a few-not a few of them16 pieces) have all the properties necessary for the treatment of bronchitis:

  • thyme is an excellent bronchodilator and expectorant with anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antiviral properties (effective for viral and bacterial pathologies),
  • succession - antiallergic, diaphoretic, anti-inflammatory agent with expectorant and breathing-relieving effect in bronchitis (effective in allergic and other pathologies),
  • birch buds – antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and expectorant (effective in combating purulent types of bronchitis caused by staphylococcal infection),
  • nettle - a general tonic, antipyretic, expectorant, useful for any colds,
  • linden blossom is an antipyretic, diaphoretic, and tonic that can ease breathing, soothe coughs, and improve the removal of mucus from the bronchi,
  • sage – anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, immunostimulating agent, somewhat facilitating the removal of phlegm from the bronchi (often used for bronchitis and pneumonia),
  • chamomile - anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, detoxifying agent,
  • marsh cudweed - improves blood supply to various parts of the respiratory system and metabolism in them, prevents stagnation of sputum, stimulates regeneration processes,
  • yarrow - an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent used in herbal preparations for bronchitis and bronchial asthma,
  • sandy immortelle - anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anthelmintic agent (helminths can complicate the course of bronchitis and other colds and contribute to their transition to a chronic stage),
  • immortelle pink (immortelle) - has a depressing effect on the cough center, therefore it is used to treat dry residual cough; has the ability to stop bleeding, therefore it is used for coughing up blood in sputum,
  • rose hips - a general tonic vitamin remedy, a natural immunostimulant,
  • motherwort - useful for colds and other pathologies as a sedative, helping to normalize the functioning of the central nervous system and prepare the body to fight the disease,
  • wormwood – an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory agent that helps improve metabolic processes (used in the treatment of bronchial asthma),
  • Buckthorn is an antibacterial, antiviral, detoxifying agent used in cases of persistent cough that is difficult to treat,
  • Bearberry is an antiseptic that improves metabolism and stimulates regenerative processes in the bronchi.

Having carefully studied the composition of the collection, you get rid of the last doubts about the effectiveness of such a natural medicine for bronchitis. Moreover, drinking plenty of fluids is an important component of bronchitis therapy, because in this way the phlegm accumulating in the bronchi is liquefied and its removal is facilitated. And if the drink also contains medicinal herbs with a specific effect, then the cure occurs much faster. At the same time, the pleasant is perfectly combined with the useful.

How to use the monastery collection correctly? There are no difficulties in this. A healing infusion is prepared from the collection, at the rate of 1 teaspoon of crushed herbal mixture per 200 ml of boiling water. Yes, the collection from the package will need to be crushed beforehand.

The composition of the monastery collection is infused for about half an hour, while the brewing vessel is not covered with a lid. You need to drink the healing drink for bronchitis an hour before meals 3 or 4 times a day, 1 tablespoon for a course of 1 to 3 months. But in any case, it would be better to consult a doctor about the dosage, because the monastery collection is used to treat not only bronchitis, but also many other diseases, and effective doses can be different.

The collection can be brewed in reserve, because the finished drink can be stored in the refrigerator for 2 days. But it is not advisable to heat the drink, it is better to dilute it with boiling water.

Contraindication to the use of the monastery collection is intolerance to at least one of the components of the herbal composition. This will manifest itself in allergic reactions and symptoms of stomach upset.

In order for the collection to retain its medicinal value for a long time, it must be stored properly. After the pack with the herbal composition has been opened, it is recommended to pour the collection into a glass container with a tight-fitting lid. In this way, the composition can retain its properties for 25 months. Do not forget that the medicine is far from budget, so it is more expensive to store it carelessly.

The jar with the mixture should be stored in a dark, cool room, where the temperature does not rise above 20 degrees.

"Father George's Monastic Collection" is not cheap, on the contrary, it is quite an expensive medicine. And this is not surprising. Try to collect such a rich, environmentally friendly composition of herbs growing in different areas and differing in harvesting time, dry it according to all the rules (each herb has its own harvesting and drying features), measure out the required dose of each herb in the composition. This is not at all easy, even knowing the healing recipe by heart. It is much easier to entrust this matter to professionals and pay them well for their work, knowing that the resulting collection will be truly healing.
