In the norm antibodies to myeloperoxidase neutrophils in serum are absent.

Myeloperoxidase is a protein with a molecular weight of 59,000, which is one of the main factors that ensure bactericidal protection of a person. Antibodies to myeloperoxidase neutrophils may appear in vasculitis (microscopic polyangiitis - in 60-65% of cases, Cherdja Strauss - in 17-20%), rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Goodpasture's syndrome.
