Cat bathing

If your cat's fur has become dirty and greasy, or if she's gotten into something sticky or smelly, she'll benefit from a bath. Use a gentle shampoo that's safe for cats, and follow these simple steps:

  • First, brush your pet thoroughly to remove all dead hair and tangles.
  • Place a rubber mat in the bathtub or sink to provide stability for your pet's feet.
  • Place the cat in a bathtub or sink filled with 8 - 10 centimeters of lukewarm water.
  • Use a spray hose to thoroughly wet the animal, being careful not to spray directly into the ears, eyes, or nose. If you do not have a spray hose, a large plastic jug or unbreakable cup will work.
  • Gently massage the shampoo from head to tail.
  • Rinse shampoo thoroughly with a spray hose or jug, avoiding ears, eyes and nose.
  • Dry the animal with a large towel.
