Contraindications to the use of this method of contraception are:

  • Pregnancy or suspicion of it.
  • Acute, subacute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the uterus and appendages with frequent exacerbations.
  • Leukoplakia, pseudo-erosion of the cervix, polyposis of the cervical canal.
  • Violations of the menstrual cycle according to the type of meno- or metrorrhagia.
  • Presence of a pregnancy or a suspicion of it.
  • Anomalies of the development of the uterus, incompatible with the construction or form of the intrauterine device.
  • Infectious abortion or postpartum pelvic infection in the anamnesis for three months before the planned introduction of an intrauterine device.
  • Suspicion of malignant neoplasm of genital organs, external and internal endometriosis, benign tumors of internal genital organs.
  • Polyposis, endometrial hyperplasia.
  • Pronounced ruby changes in the cervix.
  • Stenosis of the cervical canal.
  • Acute infectious or extragenital diseases.
  • Diseases that occur with a violation of hemostasis.
  • Repeated expulsion of an intrauterine device in an anamnesis.
  • Allergy to substances secreted by the intrauterine device (copper, hormones).
