In Ukraine, an unusual newborn child was born - and it is unusual in him that he has genetic material belonging to three parents at once.

Specialists used the method of transporting a fertilized egg to the donor - such information was provided by the candidate of medicine, the head of the clinic of reproduction "Nadia" V. Zukin.

A little earlier - in September last year - in the periodical New Scientis there was information that a baby with a DNA of three parents was born in Mexico for the first time . The story of this baby is this: a Jordanian married couple for a long time could not conceive a child, because of a rare genetic disease. American specialists expressed their desire to help them. Scientists used the technique of fertilization with the use of the gene material of another person - the donor. However, this case is different from the one that was recorded in Ukraine.

"In the first days of January, a long-awaited baby was born - this is a girl who has already been discharged from the maternity unit. Why is this child so unique? The fact is that in this situation, the already fertilized egg was transported. In Mexico, unfertilized eggs were used, "Zukin clarified.

In addition, the candidate of medical sciences gave the following comments on this case. After the ovum is fertilized, 2 nuclei are formed in it - from the woman and from the man, respectively. Specialists in the field of reproductive medicine selected these nuclei from the maternal oocyte and transported them to the donor oocyte, from which 2 nuclei were previously selected in the same way. Why did you need to apply this technique? The fact that a woman was prevented from conceiving a rare genetic pathology, and only in this way she had the opportunity to become a mother.

This procedure proved to be effective, since the altered genes that carried the pathology remained in the original maternal oocyte, and the genes in the transferred nuclei were not violated. Thus, those nuclei that were placed in the donor oocyte were perfectly healthy.

"As a result of our work, we received a baby with the nuclear DNA of the native father and mother, and cytoplasmic donor DNA."

This case was documented and verified by Ukrainian and German laboratories.

The mother of a newborn baby is a 34 year old woman, who for fifteen years could not conceive, even with the use of in vitro fertilization.

The child was born by natural birth, the pregnancy itself passed without any deviations.

This technological principle can also be used in patients with a disturbed initial stage of embryonic development. This will allow mothers to become women who have a high risk of having a baby with mitochondrial pathologies. Such pathologies are diagnosed in cases when children with severe mental disabilities, mental disorders and other disorders appear.
