Toothpaste can be harmful to your health
Last reviewed: 02.07.2025
Having done a lot of research, scientists have come to a disappointing conclusion. It turned out that regular toothpaste gradually destroys a person's immune defense.
Scientists from France have discovered that regular use of toothpaste can lead to a gradual decline in immunity and even to the development of cancerous tumors. Such complications can be caused by a substance that is included in most toothpastes - this is the compound "titanium dioxide". On the tube or label of the toothpaste, this substance is designated under the number E 171.
Various tooth enamel cleaning pastes that can be purchased on the shelves of pharmacies and stores contain different percentages of titanium compounds. However, titanium, contrary to popular belief, affects not only the teeth and oral cavity, but also the health of the entire body.
In addition to toothpastes, titanium can be found in chewing gums and mouth fresheners. It is also used in the food industry, adding it to sour cream, mayonnaise, ice cream, and even crab sticks. The purpose of this substance is whitening: it is thanks to titanium dioxide that toothpaste has a snow-white color.
Industrial magnates use titanium compounds en masse - after all, their cost is relatively small, with a tangible economic benefit from the sale of finished products. However, scientists have confirmed: titanium dioxide, which is contained in toothpaste, has a destructive effect on the body at the level of cellular structures. The immune defense gradually weakens, all sorts of chronic diseases appear, the causes of which a person does not even guess.
It is generally accepted that the harmful substance does not dissolve in water and is excreted from the body unchanged. But this is not entirely true: titanium dioxide, being in a finely dispersed dust-like state, can cause irritation of the mucous membranes, cough, and also provoke the development of malignant tumors - for example, of the respiratory system. In addition, there are separate conclusions of scientists that titanium dioxide can lead to liver and urinary system diseases when it enters the digestive system.
Previously, experts had already conducted experiments with titanium compounds on rodents. As a result, it was proven that titanium dioxide entering the respiratory system leads to the development of cancerous tumors in mice. The point is that microparticles of the substance penetrate the bloodstream, and then into most organs, where the destruction of cell membranes occurs. During the study, damage to the DNA and chromosomes of rodents that consumed dusty titanium dioxide with drinking liquid for 18 months was identified.
The researchers' conclusions were based on a number of experiments and tests. Therefore, scientists insist that consumers carefully study the composition of the oral hygiene products they purchase.
