In the Indian state of Rajasthan, a voluntary sterilization campaign began, all volunteers will be included in the lottery, the main prize of which will be a car.

The voluntary sterilization campaign aims to combat the overpopulation of the region.

As part of the campaign, all Indians who have been sterilized before September 30, 2011 will be included in a special lottery. The main prize in the draw will be Tata Nano, which is considered the cheapest car in the world.

Also in the rally will participate motorcycles, TVs with a diagonal of 21 inches and even kitchen combines. According to regional authorities, the lottery will attract about six thousand people.

The population of the Jhongjunu area over the past decade has increased by 11.8% and currently stands at about 2.1 million people. The district administration hopes that the lottery will help achieve the planned level of 21 thousand sterilization operations per year.

According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the total fertility rate in India is 2,588 births per woman. Despite the fact that since 1990 this figure has decreased by one and a half times, experts believe that by 2030 the number of Indians will exceed the population of China.
