It is unlikely that any of the healthy lifestyle supporters thought about the fact that gelatin could become one of the first healthy food products. Scientists are sure that gelatin is not just a base for desserts, but a product that can replace many medicines. Few people know that gelatin is a protein. It is obtained by processing animal by-products, extracting pure collagen from them. Gelatin consists of a number of amino acids - specific components that potentiate the processes of protein synthesis. They are referred to as essential amino acids that are not produced in our body. In addition to the amino acids glycine, valine and proline, gelatin may contain molecules of lysine, arginine and alanine. Where is gelatin usually used? It is a common component present in jelly candies, cakes, jellies, as well as in some medicines and even cosmetics. What are the beneficial properties of gelatin?

  • The protein contained in gelatin provides the skin with health and youth. Therefore, by consuming this product, you can significantly improve the appearance of your face and body.
  • Gelatin doesn't just contain protein. It contains it in huge quantities, and at the same time it doesn't contain fat or cholesterol: for example, 100 g of gelatin can contain about 87-88% pure protein.
  • Regular consumption of gelatin can restore the mucous tissues in the stomach and intestines.
  • Collagen, which is part of gelatin, can relieve joint pain in arthrosis and arthritis.
  • Introducing gelatin into the diet helps stabilize blood glucose levels in patients with type II diabetes.
  • Gelatin contains lysine, which has a strengthening effect on the skeletal system. More precisely, under the influence of lysine, bones better absorb calcium. This property is especially important for the elderly or women who have entered menopause, who have a high risk of developing osteoporosis.
  • Gelatin can stabilize sleep because it contains glycine, an amino acid with calming properties.
  • Gelatin will help in the fight against excess weight, as it eliminates the feeling of hunger.

However, when using gelatin as a means of getting rid of extra pounds, you do not need to add sugar, salt and fats to it. If gelatin is supposed to be used instead of medicine, then you need to choose only a quality product of proven brands. Cheap analogues may contain harmful impurities that not only will not help, but will also harm your health. Scientists reassure: such a food component as gelatin has virtually no side effects. However, there are still contraindications to its use. This is a tendency to allergies, constipation, water-salt metabolism disorders, gout, thrombophlebitis, urolithiasis. If there are no contraindications, then gelatin can be safely added to both first courses and gravies, pates, drinks. And in many pharmacies you can already buy gelatin in the form of capsules for oral administration.
