Drunkenness does not lead to anything good, but it can give a bouquet of diseases, consisting of cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease and many other ailments.

Scientists from the University of Liverpool claim that drunkenness can be overcome, and most importantly, they know how. The results of the scientists' research were published in the scientific journal "Experimental and Clinical Psychopharmacology".

There are currently dozens of ways to cure alcoholism, but little helps and the person starts drinking again. But scientists who have developed a new computer program say that this is a very effective method that can help a person suffering from addiction.

The goal of this development is to develop automatic self-control in drinking people regarding alcoholic beverages.

The volunteers who agreed to test the new program were divided into two groups. Participants in both groups were given the task of pressing a button as soon as they saw an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink on the screen. The speed with which the subjects reacted was of great importance to the specialists. One group was given a signal when an image of an alcoholic drink appeared on the screen, while the other group did not hear it when pictures of alcohol appeared. As soon as the signal to stop the task sounded, the participants had to immediately finish it.

During the test, participants in both groups had the opportunity to perform the task and drink beer at the same time. It was found that volunteers from the first team drank less beer and showed more restraint and attention than participants in the second group.

"We wanted to find out whether a drinking person can automatically control themselves in relation to alcohol consumption. We hoped that in this way it could help solve a pressing problem and change ingrained habits," the authors of the study comment. In the near future, specialists plan to release an online version of the new anti-alcohol program, which, as experts hope, will help many people overcome alcohol addiction.
