Just three habits play a key role in losing weight and keeping it off, according to a new study. Women who took part in this unique study had to follow just three simple rules. And it led to amazing results. So, women had to do just three things: keep a food diary, not skip meals, and avoid fast food, especially at lunchtime. The study, conducted by the Seattle Cancer Research Center, analyzed a variety of eating habits to find the most suitable ones.

Scientists were surprised by what simple diary keeping and eating at home can do. The study involved women over 50. And they lost an average of 2.5-4 kg more than those who followed a more usual diet. This study highlights the importance of strategies for maintaining weight over time, including self-monitoring (food diary), regular meals and a healthy environment (eating at home). These are results that doctors have long observed in clinical practice.

Scientists tracked the habits of 123 women who took part. At the beginning of the study, the average body mass index of the participants was 31.3. Over the course of a year, they lost an average of 10.7 percent of their body weight. The researchers found that women who kept a food diary lost an average of 2.5 kg more than those who did not. Those who ate regularly lost 4 kg more than those who chose to fast. And, as we know, eating out can lead to a complete lack of calorie control.
