Not only pregnant women sometimes have an irresistible desire to eat something sweet, unhealthy, salty or eat a mountain of leaf lettuce. Every second inhabitant of the planet, experts say, regularly experiences severe attacks of brutal appetite, writes Bild.

"Sometimes, with the tiles of chocolate or a piece of cake, we" eat up "the stress, but often after our desire to immediately eat something, there is a shortage of a specific substance in our body," the newspaper writes. "Our body sends us unambiguous signals that indicate its true needs," expert nutritionist Werner Winkler said, noting that an irresistible desire to eat something specific is not the vagaries of our body, but an indicator of the lack of a particular vitamin or mineral.

"Unfortunately, only a few in the mood with their own organism can distinguish the ordinary feeling of hunger from an obsessive desire to absorb something concrete and not always useful, in which case these states become a problem," the author of the book devoted to this phenomenon, Marion Grilpartser . According to her, it is not necessary to eat fast food every time or eat a bar of chocolate, when it seems that you can not do without it. The publication gives a number of tips, following which you can offer your body a healthier alternative.

"The lack of iron in the body often leads to the fact that people are not indifferent to the juicy steaks and hamburgers." Specialists propose as a substitute for products of animal origin to consume legumes, as well as iron-rich oat flakes and spinach.

The craving for all sorts of chewing pastilles and marmalade is very likely indicating a shortage of sugar and, above all, selenium. The latter protects cells from free radicals and participates in hormonal processes occurring in the thyroid gland. Dietitians advise to resort in this case to dried fruits - among other things they are a real storehouse of potassium.

Behind the desire to have a snack with chips and salted rusks is a lack of sodium, experts say. To overcome the irresistible desire to eat a package of chips will help salted water or a handful of olives.

"Those whose diet is not without chocolate, apparently suffer from a lack of zinc (...) This element is known for participating in various metabolic processes and strengthening the body's defenses.Nuts and seeds are primarily cashews and sunflower seeds - contain a lot of zinc. (...) But the absolute record holders for the content of this element are oysters. "
