Green tea slows down weight gain, so it can be considered as an additional tool in the fight against obesity, according to a study conducted by scientists from the University of Pennsylvania (USA).

Project manager Joshua Lambert and his team conducted a study in mice. Animals were divided into 2 groups. Feed animals with high-fat food. In this case, one group was given epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a substance found in most varieties of green tea.

The results of the study showed that the animals that received EGCG gained weight 45% slower than those who did not receive the tea supplement. In addition, in mice receiving supplementation, the content of lipids in feces increased by almost 30%. This suggests that EGCG really prevents the absorption of fat in the intestine.

It should be noted that green tea did not suppress appetite in animals: both groups consumed the same amount of food, and ate them at any time of the day.

Scientists say that a person should drink at least ten cups of green tea daily, so that the body receives the amount of EGCG that was used in the experiment. But, according to Professor Lambert, to control your weight will be enough and a couple of cups of drink.

Recall that recently, scientists have proven the effect of central obesity on the development of bronchial asthma.
