The Catholic Union of German Physicians (BKÄ) has initiated the treatment of homosexuality using a combination of homeopathic and psychotherapeutic methods, according to the website of the weekly Der Spiegel.

As the publication specifies, the so-called homeopathy caused sharp criticism from the Union of German Lesbians and Gay Men (LSVD), despite the fact that Catholic doctors view their initiative solely as an aid to those who wish - there is no question of any compulsory treatment.

The website BKÄ states: "Homosexuality is not a disease!". However, as one of the ideologists of the Union Gerho Winkelmann points out, those representatives of sex minorities who "feel sick, unhappy or in distress" may apply to the Union for help and receive it.

In turn, the Union of German Lesbians and Homosexuals views homeopathy as an ineffective method of treatment in principle. In addition, his representatives say, they do not experience any suffering, therefore the proposal of Catholic doctors seems to them dangerous and even in some way ridiculous. "All serious experts," they say, "agree that sexual orientation is formed in the earliest childhood."

The edition reminds that the World Health Organization excluded homosexuality from the list of diseases in 1993. Then the Union of homosexuals said that by the same token the XIX century for homosexuals and lesbians ended, albeit with a delay of 90 years.
