The countries of the European Union intend to develop laws that prohibit the prenatal choice of the sex of the child. Debates on this topic were launched in Strasbourg during the PACE session. The reason for this discussion was a significant gap in the number between the boys born girls in some European countries.
The term "antenatal gender-based breeding", which is often used by doctors, actually means that boys are more likely to be in the family than girls who get rid of through abortion. All these factors compelled the Council of Europe to resort to an acute discussion.
The report of the Council of Europe says that the centuries-old cult of a man forces modern families to abandon the birth of girls in countries such as Azerbaijan, Georgia, Albania and Armenia.
