In the modern world, electronic devices have become an integral part of human life. Now almost every home has laptops, computers and tablets, and new models of mobile phones appear like mushrooms after the rain, you just have time to keep track of them. It is impossible to argue with the fact that all these gadgets and devices make human life easier and more convenient. However, most people will probably agree that such useful and necessary electronic devices, nevertheless, have alienated humans from nature, and children from entertainment with their peers in the yard. The Internet often draws us into its networks, and we forget about time.

The results of the scientists’ research were published in the scientific journal “PLoS ONE”.

Scientists from the University of Utah claim that if you take a break from the computer, leave your phone, e-readers, and all possible gadgets at home, and spend some time outdoors, you can increase your intellectual potential.

Researchers found that people who spent four to six days in nature and were deprived of electronic devices performed better on creative tasks.

The study involved 54 American adults (average age 28) who spent six days in a natural setting, hiking, without any electronic devices.

Before the experiment, 24 people answered 10 questions of a special test, which was developed back in the 60s of the twentieth century and was used to determine the level of a person's creative potential, as well as the ability to effectively and quickly cope with stress and unpleasant situations. On average, they scored 4.14 points. The remaining participants in the experiment took the same test, but upon their return, and showed significant improvements - they gave 50% more correct answers and scored an average of 6.08 points.

Experts say that walks in the fresh air are not only a pleasant pastime, but also an opportunity to "air out the brain." People who rarely spend time in nature, constantly sit at computer monitors and are inseparable from other achievements of modern technology, over time find it increasingly difficult to concentrate and lose the ability to generate new ideas.

"We have shown how much even a four-day walk can improve human cognitive abilities. Taking a break from electronic devices increases creativity and improves human cognitive abilities," the researchers say. "Our study provides further evidence that interaction with nature has real, tangible benefits for creative problem solving."

Scientists recommend spending more time outdoors and enjoying nature in reality, rather than ruining your physical and mental health by sitting all day long in front of monitors, increasingly immersing yourself in the virtual world of the Internet.
