Pharmachologic effect
Indications Cefacel
It is used in cases of diagnosed deficiency of selenium levels in the body, which appears due to insufficient nutrition or as a result of digestive or absorption disorders. It is used when it is not possible to compensate for this condition with a special diet.
In combination therapy, Cefasel is used for oncological diseases, pathologies of the digestive system and cardiovascular system, as well as for painful conditions of a respiratory and rheumatic nature, as well as in the thyroid gland.
At the same time, the drug is prescribed in cases of heavy metal intoxication, as well as to nursing or pregnant women, under stress and high physical exertion, and also to the elderly and people who abuse alcohol and smoking.

Release form
The product is produced in tablets, in the amount of 20 pieces per package.
Pharmacodynamics
Cephasel is a medicine that contains selenium, which is one of the most important microelements for the human body. It interacts with enzymes, biological membranes, and vitamins, participates in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism, and in addition helps regulate oxidation-reduction processes.
In the blood plasma, selenium, taking the form of an amino acid – the substance selenocysteine – is synthesized with the component selenoprotein P (this is a protein that transports selenium), and also with glutathione peroxidase (it is an important part of the antioxidant cell defense system).
There is a relationship between the values of selenium in the plasma, and also the potential risk of developing oncological pathologies, thyroid diseases and disorders in the functioning of the cardiovascular system (such as myocardial infarction, arteriosclerosis, and also cardiomyopathy).
In individuals with renal failure and gastrointestinal diseases, a decrease in plasma selenium levels is observed.
Pharmacokinetics
Sodium selenite is absorbed after oral administration mainly in the duodenum. In the bloodstream, selenium is absorbed by erythrocytes and continues to be converted into hydrogen selenide (with the participation of the enzyme system).
Hydrogen selenide inside the body becomes the main storage site for selenium, remaining there until the stage of formation of combined bonds with selenoprotein or until the excretion of excess of this microelement from the body. Excess hydrogen selenide undergoes a process of metabolic changes with the help of elements dimethyl selenide, as well as methyl selenol, as a result of which trimethyl selenium ions are formed (they are the main excretion products).
The total amount of selenium in the body fluctuates in the range of 4-20 mg, and the excretion of this substance is determined by its internal content, and at the same time by the amount of this component consumed from the outside (for example, with food).
Selenium is excreted through the kidneys and intestines, and also in the form of trimethylselenium ions and other metabolic products through the lungs.
Dosing and administration
The tablets should be taken after meals - swallowed whole and washed down with plain water.
Often, treatment begins with taking 1 tablet of LS (100 mcg), once a day. If necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 300 mcg for a short period of time.
The medicine must be taken until the natural selenium levels are restored - in whole blood they are 100-140 ng/ml, and in blood plasma - about 80-120 ng/ml.

Use Cefacel during pregnancy
Cefasel is approved for use by pregnant and nursing women. In some situations, its use is even recommended by doctors.
Contraindications
Contraindications include selenium intolerance or excessively high levels of it in the body. Also, the drug in tablet form is prohibited for children, although selenium itself is allowed to be used in childhood.
Side effects Cefacel
In some situations, patients experience symptoms of hypersensitivity.
Overdose
In acute intoxication, the patient experiences nausea, diarrhea similar to garlic from the mouth, a feeling of fatigue, and abdominal pain. Systematic poisoning with Cephasel causes a disorder in the growth of nails and hair, and at the same time, the appearance of signs of polyneuropathy.
To eliminate acute intoxication, it is necessary to cleanse the gastrointestinal tract, as well as perform symptomatic procedures. In case of chronic poisoning, it is necessary to reduce the portion size of selenium or completely abandon its use.
Storage conditions
Cefasel can be kept in normal conditions for medicines.

Shelf life
Cefasel can be used for 5 years from the date of release of the drug.
Reviews
Cefasel does not have a sufficient number of objective and reliable reviews of its medicinal effect. This is due to the fact that diagnosing a deficiency of any microelement (and other necessary components) in the body requires preliminary passing of various tests and examinations - in order to correctly select the required drug.
However, at the same time, you can often find advertising articles on the Internet, which often contain incomplete or even erroneous information regarding the effects of the drug and its effectiveness. You should not expect that taking Cephasel will solve almost any problems with the function of the cardiovascular system, as well as with the gastrointestinal tract and thyroid gland (which is often indicated in such articles). Selenium is indeed an important element necessary for the body, but it is not the only one that affects the stable functioning of all its organs and systems. Therefore, before using the drug, you must first understand the reasons that caused the development of the disorder.
If it is confirmed that the problem is precisely the lack of selenium, the prescription of Cephasel will be quite appropriate and expedient. In this case, its use will help eliminate the disorder and stabilize the health condition.
