Drug medication Vagitsin-HEALTH refers to the antimicrobial and antibacterial drugs of the lincosamide group. Actively used in gynecology.
Indications Vagitsin-HEALTH
Vagicin is used as an external therapy in patients who suffer from bacterial vaginosis or dysbacteriosis of the vagina, which are provoked by bacteria that are sensitive to the drug.
Release form
The drug is released as a cream for intravaginal use, 20 g in a tube, one tube in a package with three polymer dispensers.
The gram of the cream consists of 20 mg of clindamycin phosphate and additional substances: methylparaben, cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol stearate, isopropyl myristate, polysorbate, propylene glycol, mineral oil.
Pharmacodynamics
Vagitsin is an antimicrobial agent for intravaginal use. The active substance - clindamycin - is an effective medication of the lincosamide group. The antimicrobial effect of the drug is due to the disruption of intracellular production of bacterial proteins. Clindamycin depresses the development of the microbial cell, or it destroys it: the effect is directly dependent on the dosage of the drug.
Clindamycin damages the cellular structure of many known strains of bacteria, including both gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.
In laboratory studies, the antimicrobial activity of the drug against bacteria of mycoplasma, peptostreptococcus, gardnerella, bacteroids, etc. Has been proved. Vagicin does not affect candidal fungus and trichomonas.
There was a cross-resistance of bacteria to clindamycin and lincomycin.
Pharmacokinetics
With external use of Vagitin medication, the systemic absorption of the active substance is extremely insignificant.
Dosing and administration
Vagicin is a medication for intravaginal application. To use it for the intended use of the disposable dispensers that are included in the preparation.
Before using the drug substance, it is necessary to open the tube and fix the dispenser on the neck. Filling it with cream, you need to empty the dispenser from the tube. In a supine position (on the back) with bent knees carefully insert the dispenser deep into the vagina. Slowly pressing the plunger of the dispenser, we bring it to the stop and pull the dispenser out.
Caution: The dispenser is intended for single use only.
After using the drug, the tube should be well closed with a lid. Use Vagitsin better at night.
The duration of treatment with medication and dosage is prescribed by the attending doctor. The standard dosage is 5 grams of substance per day.
Most often, the remedy is used for about 3 days. At the discretion of the doctor, the treatment can be extended up to one week.
Vagicin is not recommended for use during menstruation. During the course of treatment it is necessary to abstain from sexual relations.

Use Vagitsin-HEALTH during pregnancy
Medication Vagitsin has strict contraindications regarding pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.
It is advisable to specify the presence of pregnancy immediately when the drug is prescribed.
In the second or third trimester Vagitsin is acceptable, but only in extreme cases, when the expected effect will be greater than the probability of danger to the fetus.
The possibility of using the drug during the lactation period should be determined by the doctor: the majority of specialists recommended during the treatment to suspend breastfeeding.
After completion of the treatment course, lactation is most often allowed to resume.
Contraindications
Medication Vagitsin has a number of contraindications to use:
- hypersensitivity of the organism specifically to clindamycin, or to some other drug of the lincosamide group;
- I trimester of gestation, or the period of baby breastfeeding;
- children under 12 years.
Before prescribing the drug, it is necessary to conduct studies on the sensitivity of bacterial microflora to clindamycin.
During the use of the drug, care should be taken when driving a vehicle or complex mobile mechanisms due to the possible weakening of the reaction speed.
Side effects Vagitsin-HEALTH
When using Vagitsin medication in patients, a number of side effects can be developed that are provoked by the action of clindamycin:
- thrush, signs of vaginitis and vulvovaginitis, disorders of the monthly cycle, vaginal discomfort, dysuria, development of endometriosis;
- bloody vaginal discharge, violations of labor;
- Dyspeptic phenomena, disorders of stool, the appearance of an unpleasant odor from the oral cavity;
- bloating, pain in the stomach, heartburn;
- disorders of sensations of smell and taste, migraine;
- allergic dermatitis, erythematous rashes;
- systemic infections, myalgia, thyroidism, nasal bleeding.
If such symptoms are found, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor.
Overdose
When intra-vaginal use of medication, cases of overdose were not observed. If the cream enters the digestive tract carelessly, it is necessary to rinse the stomach and drink a suspension of activated carbon. Further treatment is symptomatic.
Interactions with other drugs
- There is a cross-resistance of clindamycin and lincomycin.
- Clindamycin enhances the effectiveness of neuromuscular innervation blockers.
- Creamy substance Vagicin is not used with any other intra-vaginal preparations at the same time.

Storage conditions
Medication Vagitsin is stored in a place protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of up to 25 ° C, in a zone inaccessible to children. The preparation can not both be heated and frozen.
