Inflammations that lead to changes in the white blood cell count are caused by various pathogens and reasons.

Only specific infections of the genitourinary tract are treated with drugs from different groups - antibacterial, antiparasitic, antimycotic, antiviral drugs.

Not always are pathogens of inflammatory diseases transmitted through sexual contact. For example, in case of dysbacteriosis, it is necessary, first of all, to restore the vaginal microbiocenosis. And treatment with antibiotics, which helped your friend achieve a normal content of leukocytes in the smear, can only harm in case of dysbacteriosis.

When sexually transmitted infections are detected, a course of systemic antibiotics is prescribed. The choice of drug is based on the origin of urethritis or vaginitis, as well as the sensitivity of the pathogen.

The most popular antibiotics for elevated leukocytes in a smear are Doxycycline, Azithromycin, Josamycin and fluoroquinolones, belonging to the third and fourth generation, active against chlamydia, ureaplasma, mycoplasma, cocci and mixed infections. The drugs of choice are Doxycycline and macrolides, fluoroquinolones are used for mycobacterium tuberculosis.

In case of gonorrhea, the drug of choice is Ceftriaxone, Bicillin and Amoxicillin, eradication of syphilis pathogens is carried out by the latest drugs of the penicillin series, macrolides and tetracyclines. These infections are very serious and their treatment is often carried out in a hospital and under the supervision of a doctor. As a rule, not one drug is used, but at least two.

The semi-synthetic macrolide Azithromycin is the drug of choice for the treatment of chlamydia, a very common sexually transmitted infection. This is due to several reasons: firstly, the ability to cure the infection with a single dose (it is easy to follow all the rules); secondly, it is active against many combined infectious agents, in particular, ureaplasma, mycoplasma, gonococci, staphylococci and streptococci, gardnerella, clostridia, and even Treponema pallidum, the causative agent of syphilis. In addition to bacteriostatic, antibiotics of this group have the ability to somewhat stimulate the immune system and suppress the activity of proinflammatory mediators.

Josamycin, a representative of the same class of antibiotics, has a natural origin and is more active than the previous one. Unlike other macrolides, it practically does not suppress the beneficial microflora of the gastrointestinal tract. Resistance to it develops less often than to other representatives of this group. It is used in the treatment of pregnant patients.

The tetracycline antibiotic Doxycycline is also prescribed quite often for inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary organs. Since many pathogens have already developed resistance to drugs of this series, it is recommended for use in primary patients with uncomplicated disease. It has a wide range of activity, in particular, to chlamydia, gonococci, staphylococci, streptococci, E. coli. Its widespread resistance of pathogens to tetracycline antibiotics.

Fluorinated quinolones are considered reserve drugs and are used in cases where the previous ones are not effective. They exhibit a bactericidal effect - they inhibit the enzymatic activity of two microbial topoisomerases of the second type at once, which are necessary for the vital activity of bacteria - the process of realizing their genetic information (DNA biosynthesis). For example, second-generation drugs Norfloxacin, Ofloxacin or Ciprofloxacin exhibit antigonococcal and antichlamydial activity, destroy most gram-negative bacteria, and are used to treat urogenital infections. Ureaplasma, in most cases, is insensitive to these drugs. If the mixed infection includes this pathogen, then Levofloxacin or Sparfloxacin, which belong to the third generation of this group of antibiotics, are used.

In case of trichomoniasis, antiparasitic agents (5-nitroimidazole derivatives) are used - Tinidazole, Ornidazole, Metronidazole. If eradication of several pathogens is necessary, for example, trichomoniasis and chlamydia or ureaplasma, and trichomoniasis is often combined with gonorrhea, then antibiotics are introduced into the therapeutic regimen (usually macrolides are chosen). Fluoroquinolones are not combined with 5-nitroimidazole derivatives, since such a combination increases the toxicity of both drugs.

In case of urogenital candidiasis, antifungal drugs are used both locally and orally; in severe forms, visceral and disseminated, drip infusions are used. The drug of choice is Fluconazole, which is characterized by high bioavailability and effectiveness in any form of the process, used locally, orally and intravenously. Its main advantage is the absence of toxicity and rare cases of side effects.

Genital herpes, the most common viral infection, is incurable. In this case, it is necessary to inactivate the virus. For this, local and oral forms of antiviral drugs based on Acyclovir are used.

The medications, their dosage and duration of treatment are prescribed only by a doctor individually, depending on the diagnosis and health condition of the patient.

In cases of early inflammation, local treatment is often limited; in more severe cases, treatment with suppositories is combined with oral medications.

Suppositories or candles are one of the dosage forms consisting of a base material that can retain its shape at room temperature, melting from the heat of the human body, and a medicinal substance that quickly, without being metabolized in the liver, enters the bloodstream. After half an hour, about half of the dose is detected in the blood, and after an hour, the medicine circulates in the blood almost completely. In addition, when absorbed, the medicinal substance of the suppository administered intravaginally, in addition to the systemic effect, acts on the inflammation site externally. The use of suppositories virtually eliminates side effects, including allergies, and it is not difficult to administer them yourself.

Anti-inflammatory suppositories that are most often prescribed for leukocytosis in vaginal scrapings:

Hexicon is an active component of the antiseptic chlorhexidine bigluconate. It is active against pathogens of the genitourinary tract: syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, and is also active against Proteus. It is prescribed for cervical erosion and bacterial vaginitis. When using suppositories, it is not recommended to wash with soap, since it neutralizes the action of the active component. Can be prescribed to pregnant women. A local reaction in the form of irritation may be observed. In case of thrush, the use of Hexicon is ineffective. Suppositories are inserted intravaginally twice a day for about a week, the maximum period of use is 20 days.

Terzhinan is a vaginal tablet that provides a complex effect due to the content of four active ingredients:

  • Ternidazole - has bactericidal activity against anaerobic bacteria, in particular, gardnerella, and is also active against protozoa (Trichomonas);
  • Nystatin is an antifungal drug, active against yeast fungi;
  • Neomycin sulfate is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside series, has a bactericidal effect on staphylococci, E. coli and other gram-negative pyogenic bacteria;
  • Prednisolone sodium metasulfobenzoate – has an anti-inflammatory effect at the injection site.

In addition to the above actions, suppositories prevent the destruction of vaginal epithelium and help normalize the acid-base balance in the vagina. These suppositories are not prescribed in the first three months of pregnancy, later - according to indications. They are used once or twice a day for a week to ten days. Fungus is treated for up to 20 days.

Metronidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole derivative, has a pronounced activity against protozoa (Trichomonas and Amoebae) and some bacteria (Clostridium, Peptostreptococcus, Fusobacterium). It is indicated for use in trichomoniasis and non-specific vaginitis. The active ingredient is incompatible with ethyl alcohol and disulfiram. It inactivates treponemas, which can distort the results of the Nelson test. During pregnancy, it is prescribed only for vital indications.

For trichomoniasis, suppositories are administered twice a day for ten days, simultaneously with taking tablets with the same active ingredient.

Non-specific vaginitis is treated with the same dose for a week.

It is recommended to start treatment from the first days of the menstrual cycle. The drug should not be used for more than ten days and no more than two or three times a year.

Betadine is the active ingredient povidone-iodine, an antiseptic that destroys bacteria, fungi and their spores, viruses and protozoa. Most microbes die in the first seconds of contact with iodine, the main effect occurs within the first half minute. Iodine is discolored. Microorganisms do not develop resistance to iodine. Due to the combination of iodine with the polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone, the effect of the drug is prolonged. It is indicated for use in bacterial, fungal, trichomonas and mixed colpitis and vaginitis.

The use of suppositories is contraindicated for patients with thyroid dysfunction, since a significant amount of iodine enters the body during the course of treatment, and is also not prescribed for Duhring's dermatitis and renal failure. It is undesirable to use in pregnant women, especially from the third month of gestation, and is not prescribed to women planning to become a mother, since Betadine suppositories have a spermicidal effect.

Suppositories are administered once a day for no more than a week. Sometimes the doctor may prescribe two administrations per day or extend the course for another seven days. They are administered daily, without interruption during menstruation.

Clotrimazole – is available in the form of vaginal tablets, mainly prescribed for candidiasis. The fungicidal activity of the drug is most pronounced, however, it also acts on trichomonads, staphylococci, streptococci and gardnerella. Clotrimazole has not shown a teratogenic effect in studies, however, it is not recommended to prescribe it in the first trimester. The recommended course: one tablet intravaginally in the morning and evening for three days or only at night for six days.

Any drug can cause a local allergic reaction in patients sensitized to it.

During treatment, patients are recommended to take vitamins C and E, as well as group B, to maintain immunity and stimulate ovarian function. Vitamin and mineral complexes may be prescribed.

After anti-inflammatory therapy, both local and systemic, suppositories with lacto- and bifidobacteria are prescribed to restore vaginal microflora. In case of dysbacteriosis, they are also prescribed to restore normal microflora.

Prevention of the growth of connective tissue strands is carried out using Longidaza suppositories, which also restore impaired immunity, bind free radicals and suppress residual inflammation. Suppositories are used rectally at night for at least two to three weeks.

Physiotherapeutic treatment of gynecological diseases allows to reduce the doses of medications and speed up recovery, and also prevents relapses, occurrence of adhesions. Prescriptions are made strictly individually, because there are contraindications, for example, thermal procedures are not prescribed for benign and malignant tumors, endometrial growths, bleeding. When prescribing, the age and general condition of the patient are also taken into account. Magnetic fields, electric current, mud, baths, showers, gynecological massage are used in treatment.

Folk remedies

It is doubtful to cope with inflammatory processes in the urogenital tract caused by sexually transmitted infectious agents using folk recipes; non-specific inflammations of the urogenital organs and tumors also require drug treatment. By independently using folk recipes, trying to cure yourself exclusively at home, you can retouch the symptoms and achieve chronicity of the acute inflammatory process, complicating subsequent diagnostics. Nevertheless, many doctors include in the treatment regimen the use of decoctions and infusions of medicinal plants for local and internal use. So we recommend not to engage in amateur performance, but to consult with your doctor about the use of folk remedies.

For urethritis, it is recommended to squeeze juice from fresh parsley stems with leaves and roots. They are well cleaned, crushed and squeezed out. Not much juice is needed per serving, only a tablespoon. Parsley juice has a diuretic effect and disinfects the urinary tract, contains carotene, ascorbic and nicotinic acid, vitamins B1, B2, K. It is drunk on an empty stomach in the morning during the period when the body is recovering, however, such treatment is not recommended for expectant mothers and people with urethritis complicated by the presence of stones.

An infusion of fresh parsley greens can be consumed by everyone, except those who are allergic to parsley. It is easy to prepare: first, boil 400 ml of water. It does not need to boil vigorously. Turn off the water when you see small bubbles rising to its surface. Let it cool. Pour this water over a tablespoon of finely chopped greens for eight to ten hours. It is good to pour the parsley overnight, and start drinking in the morning. You need to drink the entire portion during the day. In the evening, prepare a new one.

Gynecological inflammations are treated at home with douching. The herbal infusion for this procedure should have a temperature of 36 to 37℃ the first time, then it is increased by one degree every day to 45 or 48℃. Douching is performed until the symptoms disappear completely. Recommended compositions for the procedures:

  • crushed plantain leaves in the amount of a tablespoon and the same amount of chamomile flowers are infused for 60 minutes in 400 ml of boiling water;
  • a tablespoon of St. John's wort per 400 ml of boiling water is simmered in a water bath for 1/3 hour;
  • two tablespoons of oak bark are brewed with 200 ml of boiling water, infused for a quarter of an hour in a water bath, cooled to a warm state, filtered and topped up with boiled water to a volume of one liter (not used for purulent discharge);
  • Rosehip decoction can also be used for douching, the procedures are carried out in the morning and evening, for which three tablespoons of dried fruits are crushed and poured with a liter of boiling water in a thermos before bed and during the day.

Douching is only allowed after consultation with a doctor, since this procedure is contraindicated during menstruation, after childbirth and abortions (diagnostic curettage), during pregnancy and during acute inflammation. A gynecologist can allow up to ten procedures at most, and more often – five.

Herbal treatment of inflammatory gynecological diseases according to folk recipes can also include taking decoctions and infusions, for example, from blueberries and blackberries (dried). One tablespoon of berries is poured into an enamel container, 200 ml of boiling water is poured in and boiled over low heat for ten minutes. The entire portion should be consumed by tablespoon during the day along with the berries.

It is recommended to make sitz baths with pine branches (100 g of raw material per 10 l of water, boil for 30 minutes). Instead of branches, you can take the same amount of chamomile flowers, calendula or celandine herb.

In case of ovarian dysfunction and insufficient estrogen production, drink an infusion of coltsfoot (10 parts) and sweet clover (1 part). Brew a tablespoon of the herbal mixture with 200 ml of boiling water and leave for a quarter of an hour in a hot, but not boiling, water bath. Cool and strain. Drink half a glass three times a day.

Enemas with chamomile are also recommended. The procedure is done in the following sequence. Brew 1.5 tablespoons of flowers in 200 ml of boiling water and let it sit for ½ hour. While the chamomile is infusing, you need to make yourself an enema with warm boiled water. Afterwards, strain the chamomile infusion well through several layers of gauze (its temperature should not be higher than 37℃). Make an enema with chamomile infusion and lie with it on your side for forty minutes. This procedure is recommended to be done three to four times a day.

Traditional Indian treatment – yoga therapy – offers healing without taking any medicine at all. The best way out of the situation is to practice under the guidance of an experienced trainer or yoga therapist. However, it is possible to learn some poses on your own, for example, Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose), Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) and Virasana (Hero Pose) help restore ovarian function and normalize hormonal levels. For independent training, the technique can be found on the Internet. Gradually mastering several poses and practicing for 15 minutes a day, in a month you will notice an improvement in your condition. A course of classes according to the “yoga” system is quite capable of normalizing the hormonal balance of the body, which will manifest itself in the stabilization of the menstrual cycle and the absence of other unpleasant symptoms. Moreover, it is quite compatible with taking medications, herbal, homeopathic drugs, over time the need for taking which will disappear by itself. It has long been proven that impact on certain muscle groups affects the condition of internal organs.

Homeopathy

Homeopathic doctors have long treated even such serious diseases as syphilis and gonorrhea with their own remedies, however, their mass spread was stopped with the advent of antibiotics. Therefore, if sexually transmitted infections are diagnosed, it is worth resorting to modern diagnostics and the achievements of official medicine.

However, complex homeopathic preparations can be introduced into therapeutic regimens, which will help to recover faster and avoid complications.

For example, Ginikohel drops are used as part of a therapeutic complex for patients with inflammatory processes in the uterus, appendages, vagina, including those caused by sexually transmitted infections. Their multi-component composition has a beneficial effect on the female genital area and helps to normalize hormonal levels.

Metallic palladium (Palladium metallicum) – diseases of the uterus and ovary (especially the right one), accompanied by pain and discharge;
