Tavegil is a synthetic anti-allergic (antihistamine) drug of a group of ethanolamine blockers of histamine receptors. Other trade names for this drug are Alagil, Anghistan Clemastin, Lecazole, Meklastine, Mekloprodin fumarate, Rekonin, Rivtagil, Tavist, Fumartin.

Pharmacodynamics

The therapeutic effect of Tavegil is based on its active substance - 1-methyl-2- [2- (α-methyl-p-chlorobenzhydryloxy) -ethyl] -pyrrolidine in the form of fumarate, which affects the release of the endogenous neurotransmitter of allergic reactions of the immediate type, histamine.

Dosing and administration

Tavegil in the form of tablets is taken orally before meals. The standard therapeutic dose for adults and children over 12 years is 1 tablet (0.001 g) twice a day in the morning and in the evening). Dosage for children aged 6-12 years is 0.0005 g (half-tablet) twice per day. The maximum allowed daily dose is 0.006 mg.

Tavegil in the form of syrup is taken orally: adults and children after 12 years - 10 ml twice a day; children 1-3 years - 2.5-5 ml per day; 4-6 years - 5 ml; 7-12 years - 5-10 ml.

The solution for injections is injected into the muscle or into a vein - 2 mg 2 times a day. For children, the drug is administered only intramuscularly (25 μg per kilogram of body weight).

The use of Tavegil during pregnancy, as well as during breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Contraindications
