Anti-inflammatory tablets for neuralgia of non-steroidal type are often used in complex treatment. This group of drugs is used in the treatment of almost every disease. These medications remove discomfort and reduce the temperature, if it appears.
Indications for use
Tablets for neuralgia Finlepsin are prescribed for the following diseases: atypical and typical neuralgic diseases (arising due to multiple sclerosis) and idiopathic neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve, as well as the glossopharyngeal nerve.
Neuromultivit in neurological practice is indicated for use in the complex treatment of patients with neuralgia (intercostal and trigeminal nerve).
The drug Nise is often prescribed for neuralgia.
Doctors prescribe Ketonal tablets, as well as Ketonal Uno and Duo, when symptoms appear to relieve pain syndromes of neuralgic origin, which have different locations on the body (severe and moderate severity).
Sedalgin Plus is used for symptomatic treatment of pain syndromes that occur in neuralgic diseases of the peripheral nervous system.
Voltaren is indicated for the occurrence of neuralgic pain syndromes in the spine.
Spazgan is used in the process of short-term therapy to relieve the symptoms of neuralgic disease.
Tablets for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia
Postherpetic neuralgia is a complex of painful sensations that appear on the patient’s body in places where shingles previously appeared.
Often, antiviral neuralgia pills are used to treat this disease, including valacyclovir, acyclovir, and famciclovir. These drugs have been found by patients to be the most effective in preventing neuralgia or reducing the severity of symptoms.
A clinical study has shown that the above-mentioned drugs can reduce the pain of shingles, as well as reduce the risk of developing postherpetic neuralgia. The results of taking famciclovir were analyzed, which showed that long-term postherpetic neuralgia can manifest itself with severe rash, severe acute pain, in older patients. The results also showed that when using tablets for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia pharmaciclovir, the frequency of symptoms of the disease and its duration are significantly reduced.
Patients suffering from shingles can be treated by combining painkillers for PHN and antiviral treatment. Amitriptyline, lidocaine, pregabalin, gabapentin are considered effective drugs.
Pharmacodynamics
Pharmacodynamics of the drug Finlepsin is an antiepileptic drug that can also have an antipsychotic, antidepressant and antidiuretic effect. In neuralgia, the drug has an analgesic function. During the action, potential-dependent sodium channels are blocked, which helps stabilize the membrane of overexcited nerves. In addition, there is a decrease in the synaptic movement of impulses and inhibition of the appearance of serial neuronal discharges. The drug does not allow Na+-dependent action potentials to form again in depolarized nerves. If secondary or essential neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve is observed, the drug prevents the appearance of pain. After taking Finlepsin, it subsides after about 8-72 hours.
Tablets for neuralgia Neuromultivit have the following pharmacodynamic properties: phosphorylation converts vitamin B1 into the so-called cocarboxylase (this is a coenzyme of many different enzymatic reactions). In turn, the phosphorylated form of vitamin B6 is a coenzyme in the metabolism of amino acids. It takes part in the biosynthesis of various neurotransmitters (these are adrenaline, dopamine, histamine, noradrenaline, and GABA substances). Vitamin B12 takes part in the maturation of erythrocytes, as well as hematopoiesis. It also helps to transfer methyl groups (and other single-carbon fragments), synthesize proteins and nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates.
Pharmacokinetics
Tablets for neuralgia Finlepsin have a slow, but complete absorption. Food intake does not have much effect on the degree and rate of absorption of the drug substances. With a single dose of the drug, C max is achieved after 12 hours. T max is a period of 4-5 hours. In plasma, the drug reaches a stable concentration after 1-2 weeks. Drugs are metabolized in the liver, mainly through the epoxide pathway. In the process, the main metabolites are formed: an inactive conjugate with glucuronic acid, as well as the active substance carbamazepine-10,11-epoxide. The main isoenzyme that is involved in the biotransformation of carbamazepine into a new form is cytochrome P450 (CYP3A4). With a single dose of carbamazepine tablet, 72% is excreted in the urine, and the remaining 28% - in the feces.
Pharmacokinetics of Neuromultivit - its components are water-soluble vitamins, due to which they will not be subject to accumulation. Pyridoxine together with thiamine are absorbed by the upper intestinal tract, and the speed of this process depends on the dose. Cyanocobalamin is absorbed due to the presence of intrinsic factor in the stomach and upper intestinal tract. Then the substance enters the tissues together with transcobalamin II (transport protein). The components of the drug are metabolized in the liver. They are excreted from the body through the kidneys (approximately 8-10% remain unchanged).
Names of pills for neuralgia
Not all tablet forms of medications can help in the treatment of neuralgia, because the pain in this case is very unpleasant and it is not always possible to suppress it. Because of this, doctors often advise using new generation drugs that have a more clearly defined focus on eliminating painful sensations. The names of modern tablets for neuralgia are as follows:
- tiaprofenic acid;
- menovazine;
- promedol;
- naproxen;
- ketoprofen;
- ketorolac.
If we talk about old-generation drugs, diclofenac is considered a pretty good remedy. But drugs like celecoxib or meloxicam are better not used for neuralgic diseases, because they do not cope with this type of pain very well.
Medicines containing bee or snake venom cope well with inflammation and pain. For example, apifor, which comes in the form of tablets. But these medications have some contraindications. They are prohibited in the following cases:
- Problems with the liver and kidneys.
- Heart defects.
- Carrying a child.
- Fever.
- High sensitivity to poison.
Painkillers for neuralgia
When treating neuralgic diseases, the patient, first of all, needs medications that can eliminate or reduce pain. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are often used for this. The range of such medications in pharmacies is very wide, so you cannot buy them on the recommendation of a pharmacy pharmacist or on your own - the doctor should select the best medicine for the patient.
A specialist can prescribe painkillers for neuralgia to a patient. Among such drugs are Nise, Baralgin, as well as Analgin or Movalis. These tablets should be taken three times a day after meals in the dosage recommended by your doctor. This course of treatment usually does not last long, because long-term use of such medications can negatively affect the patient's health. This is especially true for the gastrointestinal tract.
There are also more modern tablets for neuralgia. They have a longer effect on the body. Among these drugs is the drug Melox forte - it will be enough to take it once a day.

Tablets for intercostal neuralgia
Intercostal neuralgia is a pain syndrome that occurs as a result of irritation or compression of the nerves located between the ribs.
Tablets for intercostal neuralgia are the main part of the complex treatment of this disease. The following medications are used in the course of therapy:
- analgesics (painkillers) - these are sedalgin, analgin, and also spazgan. This group of drugs removes the main symptom of the disease - pain. Such tablets are taken in a dosage of 3-4 times a day. You should not take them more often - this will not give results, on the contrary, side effects may appear;
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory tablets - voltaren and diclofenac, indomethacin, piroxicam, and ibuprofen. They remove inflammation and can relieve painful spasms a little. Such drugs are taken 1-2 times a day. Increasing the dosage can lead to an increased risk of gastrointestinal pathology. Without a doctor's prescription, medications of this group are allowed to be taken for a maximum of 5-7 days;
- muscle relaxants are effective pills for neuralgia. They are designed to remove muscle spasms, which are one of the factors in the occurrence of intercostal neuralgia. This group of drugs includes clonazepam, baclofen, and sirdalud. The doctor selects the duration of taking the pills individually.
Trigeminal neuralgia pills
Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic disease in which severe, paroxysmal pain is felt in the area where the trigeminal nerve branches are located.
In its treatment, various tablets are used, among which the main ones are anticonvulsants. They are used for neuralgia most often, as they can eliminate pain by reducing the activity of nerve cells. Among the tablets for trigeminal neuralgia, carbamazepine is most often prescribed. Valproic acid drugs are also used - these are diphenin, convulex, oxcarbazepine, depakine, and also lamotrigine.
In this disease, drugs that affect neuromuscular transmission will also be very effective. Such pills for neuralgia replenish the body's supply of GABA substances, thereby eliminating painful sensations. Together with anticonvulsant drugs, they act even more effectively. The most effective drug in this group is considered to be baclofen.
Sometimes doctors may prescribe glycine amino acid – myeglinol tablets. The treatment course in this case will be approximately 4-5 weeks.
To reduce the perception of pain, antidepressants that affect the functional activity of the brain can be prescribed. In this case, amitriptyline is taken. Dosage - 50-150 mg / day.
You can read more about the disease here.
Tablets for facial nerve neuralgia
In neuralgia of the facial nerve, the nerves that control the facial muscles on one side of the face become inflamed. Due to the disease, these muscles begin to weaken, reaching the stage of decreased or complete disappearance of facial movements, which creates facial asymmetry.
It is necessary to treat such a disease at early stages, as this makes it possible to prevent possible complications, as well as various residual effects. Effective in this case will be tablets for facial nerve neuralgia prednisolone, which belong to the group of corticosteroids.
The drug is taken in the morning for 5 days. The dosage on the first day is 60 mg, and then gradually decreases. The drug should be stopped no later than 10-14 days. In such doses, these neuralgia pills are safe and effective in reducing nerve swelling, which causes the intraosseous canal to become pinched. At the same time, recovery occurs quite quickly. Another plus is that pain in the ear area disappears.
Pills for shoulder neuralgia
Traditional modern medicine in the process of treating neuralgia of the shoulder provides a large complex of procedures. They are mainly aimed at relieving the patient from painful sensations in the shoulder. For this purpose, painkillers are used - tablets for neuralgia of the shoulder, in addition to which various physiotherapeutic procedures are carried out.
Typically, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used to treat this disease, which eliminate inflammation that causes pain. This helps reduce the intensity of pain. Among the drugs used are the following:
- Diclofenac;
- Ketanov;
- Ibuprofen.
If necessary, painkillers can be used, including novocaine blockade. This treatment has a drawback - anti-inflammatory drugs cannot be taken for a long time, because this increases the risk of various side effects.
The course of treatment may include not only neuralgia pills – injections may also be used. In addition, doctors recommend using local medications – smearing the sore spot with medicinal gels or ointments.
Method of administration and dosage of tablets for neuralgia
Tablets for neuralgia Finlepsin are prescribed in the following dosages: adults should take 0.2-0.3 g/day. Then this dosage is gradually increased, reaching 1.2 g. The maximum daily dose can be no more than 1.6 g. The entire daily dose is taken in 3-4 doses, forms that act for a longer time - in 1-2 doses. Children from 6 years old take 20 mg/1 kg. Not prescribed to children under 6 years old.
Method of administration and dosage of tablets for neuralgia Neuromultivit - take orally 1 tablet 1-3 times a day. The duration of the treatment course is prescribed to each patient individually. The medicine is taken after meals, it must be washed down with water, without chewing the tablet.
The drug Ketonal is usually prescribed for taking 1 time per day in a dosage of 1 tablet. The maximum allowed is 2 tablets per day. The medicine should be taken either during meals or immediately after finishing a meal. The tablet should be washed down with water. To prevent the possible development of NSAID gastropathy, drugs from the antacid group may be additionally prescribed.
Using neuralgia pills during pregnancy
The use of neuralgia pills during pregnancy is possible in cases where the pain is very strong, causing the mother to develop a stressful condition. However, when using neuralgia pills, the teratogenic effect of the drug must be taken into account - it should either not exist at all, or it should be minimal. The patient's individual tolerance to the drug and her pregnancy period must also be taken into account.
The approach to treating the disease of each patient in any case should be individual, and the therapy should be carried out by a qualified specialist. After all, in this case it is necessary to take into account not only the health of the expectant mother, but also the health of her baby.
Contraindications for use
Finlepsin has the following contraindications for use: strong sensitivity to the substance carbamazepine; acute intermittent porphyria; disorders in the process of bone marrow hematopoiesis; combination with MAO inhibitors; the presence of AV block. The drug should be taken with caution if decompensated CHF is observed, there is hypopituitarism or ADH hypersecretion syndrome, hypothyroidism or liver failure is observed. It should not be prescribed to elderly patients and those with increased intraocular pressure.
Neuromultivit is not recommended for patients who are sensitive to the components of the drug. It is also not prescribed to children under 12 years of age.
Tablets for neuralgia Ketonal are contraindicated in case of intolerance to the components of the drug and salicylates, because there is a risk of cross-allergy. It is also not recommended for exacerbated ulcer of the duodenum or stomach, developing non-ulcer dyspepsia syndrome, history of bleeding (especially if the cause of occurrence is unclear). Severe forms of liver and kidney failure, asthma attacks in the anamnesis are also considered grounds for contraindication. Also, the drug is not prescribed to patients who are breastfeeding; pregnant women; children under 14 years old.
Side effects of neuralgia pills
Side effects of Finlepsin neuralgia tablets:
- Nervous system – headache and dizziness; thought disorders, hallucinations; hyperkinesis and paresthesia, as well as aggression not motivated by external stimuli;
- Gastrointestinal tract – nausea with vomiting; increased liver transaminases;
- Respiratory system – pulmonitis;
- Cardiovascular organs - low or high blood pressure; decreased heart rate; problems with AV conduction;
- Hematopoietic system – decrease in the number of leukocytes, neutrophils, and platelets;
- Kidneys – development of diseases such as hematuria or oliguria, edema, nephritis, and renal failure;
- Endocrine system – a strong increase in prolactin levels together with developing galactorrhea, changes in thyroid hormone levels; gynecomastia may occur;
- Others include allergies, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Tablets for neuralgia Neuromultivit are generally well tolerated by patients. Sometimes nausea, tachycardia, allergies in the form of skin rashes and itching may be observed. If side effects appear, you should stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor.
Overdose
Overdose of Finlepsin may cause disturbances of consciousness, as well as depression of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, problems with the kidneys and disorder of the hematopoiesis process. Treatment in this case consists of gastric lavage, taking laxatives, and enterosorbents. Due to the fact that the drug binds well to proteins in plasma, in case of overdose, forced diuresis and peritoneal dialysis will be ineffective. Small children can undergo replacement blood transfusion.
Neuromultivit tablets for neuralgia have the following overdose symptoms (it is possible only in case of taking very large doses of the drug over a long period of time): more than 2 g/day of vitamin B6 can cause neuropathies with manifestations of ataxia, as well as problems with sensitivity. In addition, seizures with changes in EEG indicators can be observed. In some cases, seborrheic dermatitis or hypochromic anemia occurs. Sometimes, with an overdose of vitamin B12, eczematous changes in the skin, as well as acne, can appear. During treatment, the patient is given symptomatic therapy.
An overdose of Ketonal can lead to problems in the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract (vomiting and nausea, as well as pain in the epigastric region). Sometimes bleeding can begin in the gastrointestinal tract. Problems with kidney function and confusion can also be observed. When treating an overdose, therapy is carried out (depending on the manifestations that have arisen), and sorbents are taken and the stomach is washed.
Interactions with other drugs
It is forbidden to take Finlepsin simultaneously with MAO inhibitors. Other anticonvulsants can reduce the similar effect of Finlepsin. If you take the drug with valproic acid, a disturbance of consciousness or a coma may occur. Tablets for neuralgia Finlepsin increase the toxicity of the substance lithium. If you use the drug with calcium channel blockers, macrolides, cimetidine, isoniazid, its plasma concentration increases. In addition, the drug reduces the activity of contraceptives, as well as anticoagulants.
Interaction with other drugs Neuromultivit tablets - combination with levodopa helps to reduce the antiparkinsonian activity of levodopa. If the drug is used together with ethanol, the absorption of thiamine is sharply impaired (in the blood, this indicator can decrease by 30%). When treating with Neuromultivit, you should not take multivitamin complexes that contain vitamin B.
If Ketonal is taken together with diuretics and blood pressure lowering drugs, their hypotensive effect may decrease. The drug improves the effectiveness of anticonvulsants and antiglycemic drugs. With ACE inhibitors and diuretics, it increases the nephrotoxic effect. Ketonal increases the toxicity of substances such as cytostatics, lithium, and methotrexate.
