Release form
Pancreatin Forte is produced in tablets, which are covered with a shell that dissolves in the intestinal section. The tablets are brown or dark brown in color, round and biconvex in shape and have a specific odor.
The tablets are packaged in 10 tablets per blister and placed in a cardboard box. Each box may contain two, three or six blister packs and an instruction leaflet. The tablets are also packaged in a dark glass jar or a polymer jar, sixty tablets each. Each jar is placed in a cardboard box and supplied with an instruction leaflet.
Each tablet contains pancreatin, which contains active components - enzymes, namely amylase, lipase and protease. There is also a certain amount of auxiliary substances: sodium carboxymethyl starch, pregelatinized starch, low-molecular medical polyvinylpyrrolidone, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug is a digestive enzyme agent, which is intended to compensate for the insufficiency of the secretory function of the pancreas, as well as the secretion of bile. At the same time, there is an improvement in the digestion of food, a proteolytic, amylolytic and lipolytic effect is observed.
Pancreatin enzymes present in the preparation have a splitting effect on proteins by converting them into amino acids. The same effect occurs with fats - they are converted into glycerol and fatty acids. Starch is also transformed - dextrins and monosaccharides are obtained from it.
At the same time, the active components of Pancreatin Forte have an analgesic effect on the pancreas and suppress its secretion.
Under the influence of the medication substances, better breakdown of plant fiber occurs, which leads to improved digestive processes and reduced formation of intestinal gases. Pancreatin Forte also has a choleretic effect, helps to better emulsify fats and improves their absorption level, leading to increased lipase activity.
Pharmacokinetics
To activate the pancreatin enzymes present in the medication, an alkaline environment is necessary. Such an environment is found in the small intestine, where the tablet shell is broken down. The greatest effectiveness of the medication is observed half an hour or forty-five minutes after taking it.
Enzymes cannot be absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, therefore, they do not enter the systemic bloodstream. They undergo inactivation by hydrolysis and are digested in the intestinal section. The small amount of Pancreatin Forte that has not been hydrolyzed is excreted from the intestine unchanged along with feces.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is taken during a meal or immediately after it. In this case, the tablets are not chewed and should be washed down with a large amount of liquid: this can be water or fruit juice. The dosage of Pancreatin Forte varies depending on the patient's age group and the severity of the pancreatic dysfunction.
The initial dose of Pancreatin Forte is one or two tablets. If this amount of medicine is ineffective, then its dosage is increased by one and a half or two times. Adult patients can take three to ten tablets of the medicine per day. But in case of severe pancreatic secretion disorder, this amount can be increased to twenty-seven tablets per day.
Children aged four years and over with a history of cystic fibrosis take the drug depending on their body weight. The recommended dose is one tablet per twenty-eight kilograms of the child's body weight. The maximum daily dosage for children is no more than seven tablets.
The course of therapy depends on the severity of the disease, which involves taking the drug over a period of several days to several months or years.
Use Pancreatin Forte during pregnancy
The effect of Pancreatin Forte on a pregnant woman and the fetus has not been sufficiently studied. Therefore, the use of the drug during this period is possible only if the expected benefit is much higher than the potential risk to the fetus. The same applies to the lactation period.

Side effects Pancreatin Forte
Digestive system – sometimes symptoms of nausea, diarrhea, constipation, discomfort in the epigatral region appear. The use of large doses of Pancreatin Forte can cause strictures in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis, which affect the ipeocecal region and ascending colon. Such patients may also experience symptoms of intestinal obstruction.
Allergic manifestations – skin rashes, urticaria, itching, rhinitis. Such reactions may occur in patients who are lactose intolerant and porcine pancreatin intolerant.
Problems with folic acid absorption.
The emergence of perinatal irritation.
Long-term use of Pancreatin Forte and the use of high doses leads to the development of hyperuricemia.

Overdose
Symptoms of drug overdose may only be observed when using it for a long time and in high doses. In this case, patients note the development of hyperuricosuria.
