Why do pelvic bones ache?

Often the cause of pain in the pelvic bones are various injuries. In addition, such unpleasant sensations cause inflammation in the hip joint and tendons. In addition, pain in the pelvic bones does not always indicate any problems at the place of its localization - this may be one of the symptoms of damage to various structures of the pelvis or bones, cartilage, muscles or tendons located in close proximity to the painful place.

There is a definite classification of the reasons why pelvic pain can occur:

  1. Tumors of pelvic bones (malignant and benign)
  2. Excessive load during sports training
  3. Diseases of the hematopoietic system
  4. Metabolic disorders in the body
  5. Infectious diseases
  6. Paget's disease
  7. Symphysiolis
  8. Injuries and bone fractures of the pelvic department of various nature

Let's take a closer look at the causes of pelvic pain, which occur in modern medical practice most often.

  • Tumor pelvic tumors should always be eliminated in the first place, since pelvic pain is their main symptom. But this is only at the initial stages of the disease. The more difficult the stage becomes, the more new, more severe symptoms are added. At the earliest stages painful sensations appear during movement, any activity and in particular, at night. Unfortunately, many people do not give due importance to such pains in the pelvic bones and do not understand that their amplification can directly be related to the process of tumor growth. That's why a big mistake is to see a doctor only when the pain becomes almost unbearable. It is important to remember that early diagnosis of cancers practically guarantees positive results in the treatment of this ailment. The tumor can be located not only on the bone itself, but also in those tissues that come in contact with the bone. So often the fibrosarcoma or the histiocytoma behaves. Also, the swelling of the pelvic bones leads to a significant weakening. Subsequently, this leads to fractures as a result of very minor bruises or other injuries, and even simply from the fact that the pelvic bone has a certain human weight during standing. In addition to painful symptoms, pelvic bone tumors can manifest themselves with fever, night sweats, chills and weight loss. But the presence of such symptoms already indicates that the tumor spreads to other tissues of the human body. In the event that the pain in the pelvic bones is caused by malignant tumors, other sensations and symptoms may also appear. For example, with melanoma, the skin of a person and warts, moles and other bulges on the surface of the skin are exposed to changes. They also change their shape, size, color and texture, which can result in bleeding. During the treatment of breast cancer, many patients also feel pain in the bones and joints.
  • Excessive stress during sports training and various injuries, bruises, even muscle stretch and face, can often cause pain in the pelvic bones (or at least irradiate to this area). Some weather-sensitive people experience such pain when weather changes.
  • Diseases of the blood system also cause spontaneous pain in the pelvic bones. During the pain on them, the pain should manifest itself. If such symptoms are present, the doctor may suspect acute leukemia, erythremia, myeloma, bone marrow disease, chronic myelogenous leukemia. Myeloma is a malignant tumor of the bone marrow. It can be localized in the ribs, spine, flat bones or pelvic bones. Statistics argue that this disease is more likely to affect men from 50 to 70 years. It is also noteworthy that for a very long time such a disease can occur virtually without any symptoms. And we are talking about a period of 5 to 15 years! In the event that a person suffers from myeloma, he is diagnosed with chronic radiculitis, compression of the spinal cord, fractures that become pathological, hypercalcemia and very strong, unbearable pain in the bones. Acute leukemia can be suspected if painful sensations in the pelvic bones are accompanied by chronic fatigue, general weakness of the body, enlarged spleen and peripheral lymph nodes. And if to add to these symptoms the complication of infectious processes in the body, sweating and enlargement of the liver, then we can talk about chronic myelogenous leukemia.
  • Metabolic diseases of bones include vitamin D deficiency or metabolic disorders, a lack of mineral substances in the food, or problems associated with their absorption in the intestine, as well as a deficiency of B vitamins.
  • Infectious diseases that can cause pain in the bones of the pelvis are osteomyelitis and tuberculosis of the pelvic bones. In the case of osteomyelitis - it is hematogenous and in addition to pain causes fever, blood changes such as neutrophilic leukocytosis and anemia. If we are talking about tuberculosis of the pelvic bones, it is mainly manifested in the vertebrae and in most cases it is the result of the transition of tuberculosis infection from other foci (mainly from the lungs).
  • Symphysiolis - this word is not familiar to many female readers, but at the same time, many of them are personally familiar with this condition. This syndrome is due to the divergence of the pubic bones and their unstable state. Most often, symphysiolysis is manifested in women after childbirth. In the case of an acute rupture of the symphysis, the woman feels very severe pain and rest and wearing of the pelvic bandage is prescribed to her. Unfortunately, after the next pregnancy the syndrome of symphysiology most often reminds itself of itself again.

Which doctors will diagnose correctly?

The main factor that influences the pain in the pelvic bones was successfully cured is the timely access for help to a qualified specialist. Diagnosis of diseases that cause such pain is very difficult and can take a lot of time by itself. Therefore, there is no point in letting the problem out on its own and waiting for the wonderful moment when it will cease to hurt. From what kind of accompanying symptoms and a general anamnesis, completely different doctors can deal with your treatment: a traumatologist, a surgeon, a hematologist, an oncologist, a rheumatologist. Even if today pain in the pelvic bones does not cause you too much inconvenience, do not wait for the time when this happens - thus you complicate the process of recovery very much.
