Mobiluncus (genus Mobiluncus) - bacteria, mobile anaerobic grammoral (or Gram-positive) curved sticks.
Mobilunkusy have fermentable metabolism, catalase negative. Isolated from the vagina and rectum. They are one of the microbial components involved in the development of bacterial vaginosis.
In the genitourinary organs of man there are 2 representatives of the genus Mobiluncus - Mobiluncus curtisii and Mobiluncus mulieris. In practice, you can find the term Mobiluncus species (spp.), Denoting the presence of one or both microorganisms. Most researchers believe that pathogenic (harmful) is Mobiluncus curtisii, capable of causing inflammatory processes in the genito-urinary organs of man.
When does the cellulose?
Most often, mobiluncus occurs in a bacterioscopic study of vaginal discharge in women with bacterial vaginosis (15-21%) and in healthy women (4%). When the PCR method is used, the frequency of its detection significantly increases and reaches 80-85% in women with bacterial vaginosis and up to 30-38% in healthy women. However, it is worth noting that in healthy women, Mobiluncus mulieris, a less pathogenic microorganism, is more common. There are studies showing the colonization of the rectum by the lobule of the rectum in women, which can lead to contamination of the vagina and to transmission during anal sex. Mobiluncus spp. Is determined jointly with other representatives of microflora involved in the formation of bacterial vaginosis by vaginal gardnerella, bacteroides, peptostreptococcus, other anaerobic bacteria, ureaplasma, mycoplasmas.
Some studies show the pathogenic role of the mobilunculus in the development of pelvic inflammatory disease in women.
There are data on the detection of Mobiluncus spp. In men with pathology of the urogenital tract (non-gonococcal urethritis, prostatitis, orcoepididymitis).
Why is the definition of a mobile cell important?
Mobilunkus is considered one of the markers (specific feature) of bacterial vaginosis and its detection indicates the presence of a woman in this disease, which is especially important for diagnosing the asymptomatic form of bacterial vaginosis. Therefore, the definition of the morphotypes of the cellulitis is included in the scoring system for diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis of Nugent.
The role of the mobilunculus in the development of recurrent forms of bacterial vaginosis and inflammatory diseases of the pelvis is proved. Targeted treatment will prevent recurrence of bacterial vaginosis and the development of complications.
A feature of Mobiluncus spp. Is a high resistance to metronidazole - a traditional remedy for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. The detection of the mobilunculus avoids inefficient treatment and at the time of prescribing a specific treatment.
How is the cellulitis diagnosed?
Two diagnostic methods are used: a bacterioscopic study of vaginal discharge with Gram staining and PCR (polymerase chain reaction).
Serological methods (ELISA) and culture methods for determining the presence of the mobilunculus are not applied.
