Megaplex has antiestrogenic properties.
Indications of the megaplex
It is used in the treatment of hormone-dependent tumors, inoperable cancer in the endometrium, and in addition to breast cancer, in which metastases began.

Release form
The release is carried out in tablets, in an amount of 10 pieces inside the blister pack. In the box there are 3 such blisters.
Pharmacodynamics
Megestrol acetate has a pronounced antiestrogenic effect.
Megaplex is an artificial steroid medicine, the mechanism of therapeutic influence of which has not yet been thoroughly studied. There is evidence that, in terms of bioactivity, it is similar to progesterone (the female sex hormone), but the effect is only when ingested.
Pharmacokinetics
The medicine is perfectly absorbed inside the digestive tract. The metabolism of the active element proceeds through hydrolysis and glucuronization. Metabolism products are mainly excreted in urine, and the remainder is excreted with feces. The half-life of the component is about 15 hours.
Dosing and administration
The medicine needs to be taken orally. The duration of treatment and the regimen are selected by the treating doctor.
During therapy with breast cancer, the medication is prescribed in a daily dose of 160 mg. The dose can be divided into several uses (no more than 4).
To treat cancer in the endometrium, the drug is consumed in a daily dose of 40-320 mg. Dosage is divided into 3-4 uses.
To determine the degree of effectiveness of the treatment is required to take the drug for at least 2 months. Sometimes the patient is enough to take the least effective dosage of drugs.
Use of the megaplex during pregnancy
It is forbidden to prescribe medicines for pregnant women, as well as for lactating women. Or at the time of taking drugs should abandon breastfeeding.
Contraindications
The main contraindications:
- the presence of intolerance with respect to the elements of the drug;
- people who suffer from kidney failure, as well as severe disorders of cardiac function;
- troboflebitis, thromboembolism or thrombosis;
- if the patient has an unknown origin of bleeding from the vagina.
Side effects of the megaplex
Use of the drug may lead to the appearance of such side effects:
- vomiting with nausea, a feeling of apathy, and also severe fatigue;
- hemorrhage, thrombophlebitis, as well as PE;
- increased appetite and weight gain;
- decreased libido and dyspnea;
- puffiness, flushes of blood to the epidermis, melasma and hair loss;
- disorder of the menstrual cycle, hyperglycemia, and in addition galactorrhea and tension of the mammary glands;
- carpal tunnel syndrome;
- suppression of the adrenal glands.

Overdose
Even with acute drug intoxication (use of a portion of 1.6 g), there is no development of negative symptoms. The medicament has practically no toxic properties.
Storage conditions
Megaplex is required to be kept in a closed place from children, dry place. Temperature marks - within the range of 15-25 ° C.
Shelf life
Megaplex is allowed to be used for 5 years from the date of manufacture of the drug.
Application for children
Megaplex is not intended for use in children.
Analogues
An analogue of the drug is Depo-Provera's medicine.
