Indications Lamisil Uno
Indicated for therapy or as a preventive measure against fungal formations on the skin:
- foot mycoses, inguinal dermophytosis, and in addition fungal infections on smooth skin, which are provoked by dermatophytes Trichophyton (such as Trichophyton rubrum and T. mentagrophytes, as well as Trichophyton verrucous and T. violaceum), as well as Epidermophyton flocculosa and Microsporum canis;
- yeast skin infections (usually caused by Candida species, such as diploid fungi), including diaper rash.

Release form
It is produced as a 1% solution for external use. One laminated tube with a screw cap (there is a system that controls the time of the first opening) contains 4 g of the drug. One package contains 1 tube with the solution.

Pharmacodynamics
Terbinafine is an allylamine derivative. In low concentrations, it is capable of exerting a fungicidal effect on dermatophytes (Trichophyton rubra, T. violaceum and T. mentagrophytes, as well as Trichophyton verrucous, Trichophyton crateriformis, Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton flocculosa). It also affects molds (usually diploid fungi), as well as some dimorphic fungi (such as Malasseria furfur or yeast fungi). Activity against yeast fungi depends on their type and can be fungicidal or fungistatic.
The active component of the drug is capable of specifically influencing the initial stages of sterol biosynthesis in fungi, which causes a deficiency of ergosterol and the process of squalene accumulation inside the cells. As a result, the fungal cells die.
The active substance affects pathogenic organisms by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which is located in the fungal plasma membrane. Squalene epoxidase does not bind to the P450 hemoprotein system. Terbinafine does not affect the metabolism of hormones and other drugs.

Pharmacokinetics
The medicine applied to the skin creates an imperceptible transparent film that remains on the skin for about 72 hours. The active substance quickly penetrates into the stratum corneum of the epidermis: 1 hour after the procedure, approximately 16-18% of the medicine is in this layer.
Terbinafine is released in a progressive manner. After 13 days, it is present at a concentration that exceeds the minimum permissible inhibitory concentration of the active substance in vitro relative to dermatophytes.
The systemic bioavailability of the substance is insignificant. Absorption with local use is less than 5%. The solution has insignificant systemic effects. The relapse rate after 3 months of using the drug is quite low (maximum 12.5%).
Dosing and administration
The solution must be used externally - for children from 15 years old and adults. The medicine is used to eliminate mycosis of the foot (single use). The solution must be applied once to both soles, even if the fungus is observed only on one. In this way, you guarantee the elimination of fungi located in places where external manifestations of this lesion may not be noticeable.
Before the procedure, you need to thoroughly wash your hands and feet, and then dry them. You should treat your feet one by one. Start treatment from the areas between the toes - apply an even thin layer of the solution between them and around the entire circumference of the toes. Then treat the sole, and along with it the sides to a height of about 1.5 cm. Half a tube of medicine should be enough to cover the required surface - thus, a whole tube will be used to treat two feet.
Next, you should dry the solution for 1-2 minutes until a film forms. After completing the procedure, you need to wash your hands.
The solution cannot be reapplied to already treated feet or rubbed into the skin.
Use Lamisil Uno during pregnancy
Since there is too little information about the use of the drug in pregnant women, it is recommended to prescribe it only if there are strict indications. Due to the fact that terbinafine can be excreted in breast milk, Lamisil Uno cannot be used during lactation.
Contraindications
Contraindications include individual intolerance to terbinafine or other components of the drug.
It should be used with caution in cases of renal or hepatic insufficiency, various tumors, and also in cases of alcoholism, metabolic disorders, suppression of bone marrow hematopoiesis, in children under 15 years of age and in cases of occlusive lesions of the vessels of the extremities.
Side effects Lamisil Uno
Side effects occur very rarely, and they are quite short-lived and mild.
Among the systemic effects: in extremely rare cases, an allergy in the form of redness, skin rashes, urticaria and bullous dermatitis is possible. Of the local ones: quite rarely - irritation and dryness of the skin or burning at the site of application of the solution.
Overdose
There are no reports of overdose, but accidental oral ingestion of the drug may result in side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headaches, and epigastric pain.
To relieve symptoms, you should drink activated charcoal and, if necessary, undergo symptomatic treatment in a hospital.
