A characteristic feature is that iodinol not only has an antiseptic effect on the body, but also helps to overcome the inflammatory and infectious process. In addition, it has the ability to restore mucous membranes, maintain normal microflora, restore optimal quantitative and qualitative characteristics of microflora, which ensures colonization resistance of the mucous membranes. Helps maintain optimal water-salt balance. It also helps with fungal and yeast-like flora (prevents its development). Indications for use are severe cough, burning, sore throat, lymphadenitis, adenoiditis, white coating on the tongue, folliculitis.

For example, iodinol is prescribed for a runny nose. In this case, it is most convenient to use a spray. Basically, iodinol is prescribed for diseases of bacterial genesis, since it has an antibacterial effect. In addition, iodinol effectively moisturizes the mucous membrane, which allows it to be used for throat irritation, sore throat, dryness. Due to its unique composition, iodinol normalizes microflora, restores mucous membranes. Coughing is significantly reduced, inflammation and redness go away.

Iodinol for purulent tonsillitis

It is one of the most effective remedies for purulent tonsillitis. Iodinol has been used in therapeutic and pediatric practice for a long time. It is effective only when the cause of tonsillitis is bacterial microflora. Additionally, it has an immunostimulating effect.

Iodinol for pharyngitis

Iodinol is also recommended for pharyngitis. Iodinol is prescribed to adults and children. It allows you to quickly eliminate the inflammatory and infectious process. Pharyngitis is a direct indication for the appointment of iodinol, since this disease is almost always caused by bacterial microflora and is accompanied by an active inflammatory process. Most often, iodinol has an antibacterial effect, which allows you to quickly get rid of the infectious and inflammatory process.

Release form

There are two main forms of iodinol release - a solution for gargling and a spray. The main active ingredient is iodine.

Iodinol in the form of a spray is convenient for children. But you should never make a decision on the appointment yourself, even despite its relative safety. Uncontrolled treatment can be fraught with serious consequences and complications. It is imperative to consult a doctor who will prescribe the appropriate treatment, select the dosage of the drug, and the method of its use.

Pharmacodynamics

Speaking about the pharmacodynamics of iodinol, it is worth noting: it contributes to the disruption of the processes of synthesis and anabolism in bacteria. As a result, metabolic processes are disrupted, and the ability to reproduce is reduced. Gradually, bacterial cells die, and the inflammatory process subsides. In general, it is considered as a complex anti-inflammatory agent, as well as a means of promoting the restoration of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and oral cavity.

Pharmacokinetics

When talking about pharmacokinetics, the first thing to focus on is the drug's activity. It is not able to penetrate into the blood, that is, it has only a local effect, normalizes the microflora.

Dosing and administration

There are three main ways to use iodinol. Doses may also vary. Most often, it is prescribed as a spray or solution for gargling, lubrication. The easiest way is to use a spray, since one press equals one dose. For gargling, you need to prepare a solution; the product cannot be used in its pure form. Dilute at the rate of a tablespoon of the product per glass of water. But in other cases, the doctor may prescribe a more concentrated solution, up to preparing a solution in a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 with water.

How to dilute iodinol for sore throat?

In fact, there are no strict instructions on how to dilute iodinol for tonsillitis. Everything is determined individually, depending on the severity of the pathology, the level of bacterial contamination, and the state of the body's immune system. Therefore, only a doctor can select a treatment regimen. So, in severe cases of tonsillitis, the drug is diluted in a 1:1 ratio with water and used to gargle. In other cases, dilution by 3, 5, or 10 times is allowed. For children or patients with increased dryness, increased allergic reactions, it is recommended to dilute as follows: a teaspoon of iodinol per glass of warm boiled water. [ 6 ]

How to gargle and lubricate the throat with iodinol for tonsillitis?

Iodinol can be used to gargle and lubricate the throat with angina. The doctor will tell you how to do this. But in general, the scheme for preparing a safe solution can be presented as follows: a tablespoon of the solution is dissolved in a glass of warm water. The resulting solution can be used to gargle the throat, mouth, and can also be used for lubrication: wrap cotton wool or a bandage around the index finger, soak it in the solution, lubricate the throat, trying to cover as large an area as possible.

Application for children

Children can use iodinol, but not earlier than they are 3 years old. This is due to the peculiarities of iodine's effect on the body: it can cause burns of the mucous membranes, voice disorders, and dysbacteriosis. An approximate treatment regimen is selected based on laboratory tests and anamnesis data. [ 7 ] It is recommended to use iodinol for children only in case of severe tonsillitis.

Use Iodinol during pregnancy

In general, the use of any medications is contraindicated during pregnancy. But in this case, iodinol is rather an exception to the rule. It is a relatively safe remedy, which is natural and has virtually no side effects. The active substance is iodine, which not only does not harm a woman (when used in reasonable ways in moderate quantities), but sometimes even replenishes the iodine deficiency that accompanies pregnancy. [ 1 ]

In addition, if the infection begins to progress, treatment must be carried out, otherwise it will only get worse. Iodinol can be used only as prescribed by a doctor. The main indication for this is lacunar tonsillitis. But it can also be used for other forms of tonsillitis, as well as pharyngitis, laryngitis, sinusitis, sinusitis, and runny nose. It is important to understand that the risk of this lack of treatment should be much higher than all possible risks of therapy. The dosage is strictly individual.

Contraindications

There are not many contraindications, but they are all quite serious. It is not recommended for use in renal failure, in thyroid diseases. Excess iodine can cause hypothyroidism due to the suppression of feedback of thyroid hormone synthesis and the conversion of triiodothyronine (T3) into less active thyroxine (T4). [ 2 ] Contraindicated in diseases that are in remission, since iodine creates an additional burden on the body, which can cause an exacerbation of the chronic process. There is also a burden on the urinary system.

Exposure of breastfeeding mothers to unnecessary iodine should be minimized by avoiding use on maternal mucous membranes (e.g. vaginal application, wound treatment), avoiding prolonged contact, and avoiding repeated applications.[ 3 ]

The drug is not recommended for pregnant women, children under 3 years of age, with increased individual sensitivity, diseases of the stomach, intestines, thyroid gland, and other metabolic disorders. [ 4 ]

Side effects Iodinol

It is considered a proven and relatively safe drug, so side effects are rare. Due to the fact that iodine is an important regulator of metabolic processes, is part of proteins, hormones, improper use can lead to disruption of metabolic processes, hormonal background, development of dysfunction of the thyroid gland in some susceptible people, but, as a rule, it is well tolerated by most people. [ 5 ] As a result, an imbalance of metabolic processes develops. Edema, dermatitis, eczema, urticaria develop. In people with chronic liver, kidney pathology, or with similar diseases in the anamnesis, complications and exacerbation of kidney and liver diseases are observed.

Overdose

Overdose is accompanied by digestive pathologies. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, signs of poisoning are observed. When the first symptoms of overdose appear, you need to provide emergency assistance as quickly as possible: induce vomiting, wash out the stomach. This will eliminate the substance from the body. [ 8 ]

Interactions with other drugs

There is no specific interaction with other drugs. The only possible reaction is with starch (standard reaction of iodine and starch). When consuming iodine from drugs that include starch, a blue tint of feces is observed, less often, urine. But this reaction is not dangerous for the body, you just need to take it into account when taking the test. Also, some sources indicate that the drug can react with antiviral agents. It is not recommended to combine it with secretion blockers (causes dysuric disorders, urinary syndrome).

Storage conditions

Iodinol should be stored in the original packaging. Usually, storage conditions are specified in the instructions. You can store the drug at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It is important to store the drug in a dry place. The temperature should not exceed 20 degrees. Direct sunlight should not fall on it.

Shelf life

Iodinol can be stored for two years from the date of manufacture. Do not use the drug if the expiration date has expired, since there will be no effect from the treatment.

Analogues

The closest analogues of iodinol are sea salt, aquamaris, derinat, Lugol's solution, folk remedy (a mixture of salt, soda and iodine)
