Hypertrophy of the seminal tubercle is a congenital anomaly characterized by hyperplasia of all elements of this anatomical formation. The size of the enlarged organ varies, sometimes it almost completely obstructs the lumen of the urethra.

Symptoms seminal tubercle hypertrophy

Symptoms of hypertrophy of the seminal tubercle are similar to those of congenital sclerosis (contracture) of the bladder neck. In older children, painful erection is often recorded during urination.

Diagnostics seminal tubercle hypertrophy

Diagnosis is made using ascending urethrocystography, which reveals a filling defect in the posterior urethra. Ureteroscopic examination reveals hypertrophy of the seminal tubercle.

When catheterizing the bladder, an obstruction is sometimes felt in the posterior part of the urethra; this manipulation is often accompanied by moderate bleeding.
