Anti-HB with IgG are normally absent in the blood serum.

In patients, anti-HB with IgG appear in the acute period of viral hepatitis B and persist throughout life. Anti-HB with IgG is the leading marker of previous viral hepatitis B.

Blood testing for the presence of anti-HB c IgG is used for the following purposes:

  • diagnostics of chronic HBV carriage in the presence of HB s Ag in the blood serum;
  • diagnostics of previous viral hepatitis B.
