Gepaforte is used for liver diseases. It is a lipotropic agent.

The phospholipids in the drug are similar in chemical structure to internal human phospholipids, but at the same time they are superior to them because they contain more polyunsaturated fatty acids. These molecules are mainly embedded inside the cell wall structures and simplify the process of restoring damaged liver tissue.

Indications Hepaforte

It is used for the following disorders:

  • fatty liver degeneration;
  • hepatitis in the active or chronic phase;
  • liver cirrhosis;
  • psoriasis;
  • pre- or postoperative therapy in people who have undergone surgery in the area of the gallbladder or liver;
  • liver intoxication;
  • toxicosis developing during pregnancy;
  • radiation poisoning.

Release form

The drug is released in capsules - 10 pieces inside a cell plate. There are 3 such plates in a pack.

Pharmacodynamics

In case of liver cell damage due to alcohol, viruses and toxic components, phospholipids help to develop a hepatoprotective effect. The rate of entry and excretion of elements inside the cells increases, and also improves liver metabolic processes and restores enzyme systems.

Phospholipids regulate lipoprotein metabolism, thereby affecting the disturbed processes of fat metabolism. In this case, cholesterol with neutral fats are transformed into forms that are suitable for movement (especially due to the increased ability of HDL to attach cholesterol), and then undergo subsequent oxidation. During the excretion of phospholipids through the bile duct, the lithogenic index decreases, and bile is stabilized.

The complex of various vitamins has the following properties:

  • Niacinamide has hypolipidemic activity and prevents fatty liver transformation;
  • Pyridoxine, being a coenzyme, is involved in phospholipid, protein and amino acid metabolism;
  • Thiamine is involved in carbohydrate metabolism;
  • Riboflavin acts as a cofactor for a large number of respiratory enzymes;
  • Tocopherol has an antioxidant effect on cell walls and prevents the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids.

Pharmacokinetics

After taking the drug orally, over 90% of phospholipids are absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract.

The major part of the drug is broken down, forming the element 1 acyl-LYSO-phosphatidylcholine. At the same time, 50% of this element is transformed into polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine in the small intestine. Subsequently, this component, in combination with HDL, moves into the liver. Plasma values of Cmax phospholipids are noted after 6 hours.

Metabolic processes occur inside the kidneys and liver.

Excretion occurs mainly with feces. A smaller portion is excreted with urine.

Dosing and administration

At first, Gepaforte is taken in a portion of 2 capsules 3 times a day. The maintenance dosage is 1 capsule 3 times a day. The capsules are washed down with a small amount of plain water, taken with food.

The therapy lasts depending on its effectiveness and the nature of the disease. It usually lasts at least 90 days.

In the case of psoriasis, the therapeutic cycle lasts 14 days; the drug is used in combination with standard agents used in the treatment of this pathology.

Use Hepaforte during pregnancy

The medication can be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy with the doctor's prescription.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

  • severe personal intolerance associated with the elements of the drug;
  • empyema affecting the gallbladder;
  • cholestasis or nephrolithiasis;
  • ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract in the active phase of development.

Side effects Hepaforte

The medication is generally tolerated without complications. Only occasionally are the following side effects noted:

  • nausea, stomach discomfort, dark yellow urine, diarrhea and bloating;
  • signs of intolerance, itching, epidermal rash and urticaria.

Overdose

Potentiation of side effects is possible, as well as the appearance of vomiting, diarrhea and nausea. Long-term administration in large portions can provoke the development of polyneuropathy.

Interactions with other drugs

It is necessary to take into account the presence of vitamins in the composition of the medication - to prevent possible vitamin intoxication when using other multivitamin products.

Tocopherol acetate potentiates the activity of steroids and NSAIDs (prednisolone with sodium diclofenac, as well as ibuprofen). Therefore, this vitamin is prohibited to combine with substances that demonstrate an alkaline effect (trometamol or sodium bicarbonate), as well as with silver or iron medications and indirect anticoagulants (this includes neodicumarin with dicoumarin).

Pyridoxine hydrochloride can reduce the effect of levodopa, as well as weaken the toxic signs that occur when using isoniazid and other anti-tuberculosis agents. The vitamin also potentiates the effect of diuretics. Penicillamine, isoniazid, as well as immunosuppressants, hydralazine with pyrazinamide and estrogens (including estrogen-containing oral contraception) are pyridoxine antagonists or potentiate its excretion through the kidneys.

Riboflavin is not compatible with streptomycin, and in addition, it weakens the effect of antibacterial agents (doxycycline, lincomycin with oxytetracycline, and tetracycline with erythromycin). Tricyclics and amitriptyline with imipramine slow down the metabolic processes of riboflavin.

Thiamine is able to reduce the curare-like effect. Antacids inhibit the absorption of the vitamin. Inactivation of the effect of thiamine occurs under the action of 5-fluorouracil, because the latter demonstrates a competitive slowdown in the processes of phosphorylation of the vitamin with the subsequent formation of thiamine pyrophosphate.

Because cholestyramine reduces the absorption of niacinamide, a 4-6 hour interval should be observed between their administrations.

Rifampicin weakens the binding of bilirubin and increases its protein synthesis.

Paracetamol reduces serum transaminase levels.
