Indications Hexapneumina

It is used for teenagers from 15 years of age and adults (in tablets) in the treatment of acute stages of pathologies in the upper respiratory tract, which have an infectious and inflammatory origin and are accompanied by a runny nose (due to inflammation of the nasal mucosa).

Syrup or rectal suppositories are prescribed to children or adults to eliminate diseases that cause a severe dry cough (may be of an allergic nature).

It is also used to eliminate symptoms (in the form of dry cough) of acute pathologies in the respiratory system, against which a feverish condition develops - for infants in suppositories or syrup.

Release form

The product is available in tablets, rectal suppositories and syrup. Syrup for an adult or teenager is in 0.2 l bottles; for a baby – 0.1 l. Suppositories are sold in 6 pieces per box.

Pharmacodynamics

The medication has an antibacterial (against streptococci and staphylococci, as well as corynebacteria), anti-edematous (usually against the mucous membrane in the upper respiratory tract), vasoconstrictor, and, in addition, a weak bronchodilating effect. In addition, it has an anti-allergic effect (due to the action of chlorphenamine maleate contained in it, which blocks the activity of H1-endings of histamine).

The syrup, as well as rectal suppositories, contain the element pholcodine, which is a derivative of morphine. This component suppresses the activity of the cough center, and in addition has antitussive properties. The medicine also contains (as an additional element) paracetamol, which has an analgesic and antipyretic effect.

Dosing and administration

Using tablets.

Adults are prescribed 1 tablet three times a day. Teenagers aged 15 and over are required to take 1 tablet twice a day.

Taking syrup.

Adults should drink 3-6 tablespoons of syrup per day (in 3 separate doses).

For children aged 2.5-8 years, the syrup portion is 1-2 tablespoons, taken twice a day (the daily dosage of pholcodine is 0.5 mg/kg). Children aged 8-10 years should take the drug in a daily dose, which is calculated at a ratio of 0.001 mg/kg of pholcodine. Teenagers aged 11-15 years should take 2-3 tablespoons of the medicine per day.

For infants, the serving size of the syrup is 1-3 teaspoons per day.

Scheme of application of candles.

An adult is prescribed to administer 1 suppository three times a day.

For children under 2.5 years of age, the dosage is 1 suppository (for infants) administered twice a day (in the morning and then in the evening). A child aged 2.5-5 years also requires 1 suppository (for a child) administered once a day. A child over 5 years of age is administered 1 suppository 2-3 times a day.

Use Hexapneumina during pregnancy

Hexapnevmin in tablets is prohibited to use during lactation or pregnancy. Syrups can be used with great caution, in initial portions reduced by half (in comparison with standard).

Contraindications

The use of syrup or tablets may lead to an increase in the severity of existing glaucoma or prostate hypertrophy and other diseases in which there is a possibility of urinary retention.

Suppositories and syrup can lead to suppression of the respiratory center activity, and in addition to this, to the development of pulmonary failure, as well as to bronchial spasms, therefore they should not be used in case of respiratory failure, asthma and intolerance to medicinal elements.

Medicinal forms containing paracetamol (suppositories and syrup for infants) can cause liver failure.

It is necessary to prescribe the drug with caution to people who require high concentration and reaction speed at work (for example, drivers), because it can cause the development of a feeling of drowsiness.

When using Hexapnevmin, you must refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages. Long-term use of the drug is also prohibited.

Side effects Hexapneumina

  • increased blood pressure (in case of taking tablets that contain the element mesaton);
  • a feeling of drowsiness, as well as accommodation disorder, constipation, nausea, signs of allergy on the epidermis, bronchial spasms, respiratory depression, and also drug dependence. These manifestations are associated with the influence of the component pholcodine;
  • the appearance of dyskinesia in the gastrointestinal tract, and in addition, occasionally, the development of leukopenia or agranulocytosis - these side effects occur under the influence of the medicinal component chlorphenamine;
  • pain in the epigastric zone, nausea, itching and rashes, as well as urticaria and angioedema. Thrombocytopenia or anemia may also occur occasionally. The above-described manifestations develop due to the activity of the element paracetamol.
