Very often, various disorders in the digestive system are accompanied by unpleasant sensations in the form of spasms and pain in the epigastric region. In this case, as part of the complex therapy of these diseases, doctors prescribe medications that have an antispasmodic and analgesic effect. It is better, if such a remedy will consist not of synthetic, but of natural components, as, for example, plant drops "Gastropin".

Indications Gastropin

The very name "Gastropin" indicates that the drug is used to treat gastrologic pathologies, i.e. Diseases of the digestive tract, which can be accompanied by painful spasms. Such pathologies include:

  • Functional (non-ulcer) dyspepsia, i.e. A violation of the stomach, not associated with any pathology of the gastrointestinal tract and accompanied by a feeling of overcrowding, nausea, weight in the epigastrium, hungry and spastic pain.
  • Chronic gastritis against a background of reduced secretory function of the stomach, which causes problems with digestion of food and, as a consequence, pain syndrome.
  • Hyperkinetic DZHVP (it also dysfunction of the bile ducts, better known as dyskinesia of bile ducts). The disease develops as a result of changes in the tone and motility of the gallbladder and the ways in which bile enters the pancreas. The predominance of the tone of the parasympathetic nervous system leads to frequent contractions of the gallbladder and spasms of the sphincters (muscular organs providing the movement of bile from the liver to the pancreas), resulting in an outflow of bile and abdominal pain.

All the above pathologies are accompanied by cramping pain attacks (gastralgia), which negatively affects the patients' well-being. "Gastropin", of course, can not cure various diseases of the digestive system, but it is quite possible to remove unpleasant symptoms. That is why the use of this drug is appropriate in the complex therapy.

Release form

The drug "Gastropin" comes in the form of an alcohol tincture of medicinal herbs of a brownish-red color with a specific odor. The composition is packaged in bottles of dark glass of 25 ml.

On the medicine package it is noted that the preparation is made in the form of oral drops, and therefore is intended for internal use.

"Gastropin" is a complex drug. Three active substances provide therapeutic properties. By and large, the preparation is a mixture of tinctures on an alcohol of 3 medicinal plants: wormwood herb (herb) - 10 ml, belladonna, she is crimson (grass) - 2.5 ml, valerian (roots) - 12.5 ml.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug effect of the drug "Gastropin" is due to its natural extracts. So tincture of belladonna provides an anesthetic effect, while alcohol extract of Valerian roots effectively removes spasms and has a sedative (soothing) effect.

But alcoholic wormwood tincture in this medicinal composition not only removes the symptoms of diseases of the digestive system, but also heals the diseases themselves, normalizing the work of the stomach and improving the process of digesting food. It also has an irritant effect on the receptors of the stomach, thus strengthening the production of gastric juice, which is very important for gastritis with a decreased secretion of the digestive enzyme.

Contraindications

Despite the fact that the composition of the drug "Gastropin" consists mainly of natural ingredients, the medicine has an impressive list of contraindications for use, due to the properties of the plants themselves and the presence of ethanol (alcohol).

So, the drug is not used to treat patients with:

  • increased production of gastric juice (with increased acidity of the stomach),
  • ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum,
  • gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), characterized by a throw into the esophagus of gastric contents,
  • cholelithiasis, in which stimulation of gallbladder motility can lead to complications,
  • a delay in urine in the body
  • obstruction of the stomach or the cough.

Among the contraindications to the use of the drug can be found and pathology, not related to the work of the digestive tract and excretory system. So, "Gastropin" is not used in certain diseases of the heart and blood vessels, because the drug is able to strengthen the heartbeat. High rates of heart rate for atrial fibrillation, IHD, CHF, tachycardia, mitral stenosis and severe cases of hypertension can be dangerous not only for health, but also for the lives of patients,

Do not prescribe the drug in conditions characterized by depression of the central nervous system, for example, with depression, with a sharp increase in temperature above 40 degrees (hyperthermia syndrome), bleeding (even in the event that bleeding occurred earlier in the pelvic organs), anemia. Contraindications to taking medication are also diseases such as epilepsy, glaucoma, thyrotoxicosis (excess thyroid hormones), myasthenia gravis (rapid fatigue of striated muscles), individual sensitivity to at least one of the components of oral drops.

Reception of the drug "Gastropin", which is an alcohol tincture of medicinal herbs with spasmolytic, analgesic and sedative action, in some cases may be accompanied by some side effects from various functions and systems of the body.

First of all, the nervous system can react. In this case, there is general weakness and drowsiness, depression, inhibition, decreased emotional response, violations of pronunciation of words, dizziness and fainting. The working capacity of a person is decreasing. In some people, the drug provokes the appearance of epileptic seizures.

But more often nevertheless side effects of a preparation find a response from GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT. It appears dryness of the oral mucosa, the appearance of a strong thirst, changes in taste, difficulty in swallowing, the appearance of nausea and vomiting, deterioration of intestinal motility, and, as a consequence, constipation. There may also be a decrease in the tone of the gallbladder and its ducts, the spasms in the abdomen become worse.

The heart can respond to the drug with cardiac arrhythmias and the development of myocardial ischemia.

Sometimes patients have:

  • allergic reactions, including severe (Quincke's edema and anaphylactic shock),
  • rashes on the skin in the form of urticaria or exfoliative dermatitis, the appearance of a cough with hard-to-recover sputum,
  • dry skin with decreased sweating,

Despite the fact that the above symptoms do not always appear, you should not ignore their appearance. In the event of any side effects of the drug, it is necessary to inform the treating doctor about them and raise the issue of safety of further therapy with the drug with this composition.

Overdose

If patients do not adhere to doctor's prescriptions and take "Gastropin" in large doses or for a long time, symptoms of drug overdose may appear. Patients complain of headaches and dizziness, severe weakness, the appearance of nausea and vomiting, stomach pain. They have an increased heart rate and pressure, nervousness and nervous state are observed, hands begin to tremble, sleep deteriorates, temperature rises, hearing and vision deteriorates, breathing difficulties are diagnosed, and loss of consciousness is sometimes noted.

When there are signs of overdose, you need to stop taking the medicine and take steps to remove it from the body. Effective measures in this case will be washing the stomach with water or salt solution and taking absorbents, for example, activated carbon. Further, symptomatic treatment is performed to relieve unpleasant symptoms.

Interactions with other drugs

In the case of multicomponent drugs such as Gastropin, their various constituents can react with the active substances of other drugs, which often leads to unpleasant consequences. For this reason, it is impossible to ignore the drug interaction between the "Gastropin" tincture and other medications, which is due to the valerian and beladonna in it.

So valerian with its calming effect on the psyche can increase the effect of drugs that have sedative and hypnotic effects, as well as spasmolytic, analgesic and cardiac drugs.

Alkaloids contained in the belladonna, stop the action:

  • m-cholinomimetic agents (pilocarpine, acetylidine, benzamone),
  • anticholinesterase agents (physostigmine, prozerine, phosphacol, etc.)
  • increase the side effects of antiarrhythmic drugs (cardiac glycosides), antihypertensive drugs based on clonidine and antidepressants from the group of MAO inhibitors (for example, cause heart rhythm disorders),
  • potentiate cholinoblocking properties of novocainamide and quinidine,
  • increase the effect of taking barbiturates (phenobarbital, butizol, talbutal, etc.) and tranquilizers (buspirone, meprobamate, diazepam, midazolam, hydazepam, mebikar, etc.)
  • potentiate the effect of alpha and beta-adrenomimetics (metazone, naphthyzine, galazoline, dobutamine, ginipral, volmax, salbutamol, etc.) and preparations against allergy with antihistamine action (diazolin, tavegil, zirtek, treksil, etc.).

It is possible to form a precipitate in the interaction of the drug "Gastropin" and lead acetate, calcium salts, tannin and alcohol extract of the lily of the valley.

One name - two drugs

At the request of "gastropin" on the Internet, you can find another drug already imported. Like the Ukrainian "Gastropin" this medicine is used for various diseases of the digestive system, but the list of indications is much larger.

The thing is that the imported and Ukrainian "Gastropin" are 2 completely different drugs. In the first case, we have a synthetic preparation with antiulcer effect, which is achieved by reducing the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. On the second case we are dealing with herbal medicine, which provides an antispasmodic and analgesic effect and is used for cramping pains, provoked by certain pathologies of the digestive system.

Let us dwell in detail on an imported drug called "Gastropin" (Gastropin). This drug belongs to the group of m-holinoblokatorov on the basis of hydrochloride of pirenzepine and is available in the form of tablets or solution for injection.

Form release:

  • tablets with a dosage of 25 mg,
  • tablets with a dosage of 50 mg,
  • ampoules with a solution of 2 ml containing 10 mg of solution.

The drug is indicated for various types of gastritis, duodenitis, esophagitis, reflux disease, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (pancreatic islet tumor), unspecified bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, colitis, gastroenteritis of non-infectious etiology, mixed diseases of the digestive system (specified and unspecified). In other words, it is effective wherever protection of the gastrointestinal mucosa is required from the aggressive action of gastric acid.

Dosing and Administration

In most pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, preference is given to oral administration of the drug. The medicine in the form of tablets is taken in a single dose of 50 mg (if there is no special indication to reduce the dose twice) 30 minutes before meals, washing it with clean water.

At the beginning of treatment (the first 2 or 3 days), the tablets are given 3 times a day, then the frequency of intake is reduced to 2 times. The therapeutic course, depending on the severity of the pathology, can be from 4 to 8 weeks.

With Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (gastrinome), severe ulcer disease, and also with severe pain syndrome, use the Gastropin solution in ampoules, injecting it intramuscularly or intravenously (as injections and droppers with slow administration). For the system, the drug is diluted in saline solution, 5% glucose solution or r-re Ringer.

With bleeding ulcers on the gastrointestinal mucosa and pain syndrome, a single dose of the drug in the form of a solution is from 5 to 10 mg, and with gastrinoma - 20 mg. With these pathologies, the drug is given in / m or / in 2 or 3 times a day. As soon as the patient's condition improves, after 2-3 days you can switch to taking the tablet form of the drug.

Overdose

Cases of drug overdose have not been described to date. However, there is more information that large doses of pirenzepine may trigger the appearance of symptoms such as dryness and redness of the skin and mucous membranes of the mouth, flushes, delusions, increased heart rate, twitching of muscles and limbs, convulsions, fever, urination, acute attacks of glaucoma.

First aid measures with an overdose of the drug are considered gastric lavage and the reception of activated charcoal, in severe cases intravenous injection of physostigmine is indicated. In the case of development of acute conditions with glaucoma, the use of eye drops with m-cholinomimetic action is indicated.

Contraindications for use

Contraindicated drug only pregnant (the first 3 months) and hypersensitivity to the components of the medication.

Patients with prostate adenoma, zakratougolnoy glaucoma, urinary disorders and fluctuations in blood pressure take the drug under the supervision of a doctor.

Side effects

Among the side effects of the drug is a feeling of dryness of the oral mucosa, a disorder of the stool (often constipation, less frequent diarrhea), decreased visual acuity, increased appetite after taking the medication. Allergic reaction to the drug happens very rarely, mainly in cases of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Interaction with other drugs

"Gastropin" improves the tolerability of anti-inflammatory drugs, without affecting their effectiveness.

Parallel administration of "Gastropin" and blockers of H2-histamine receptors contributes to an even greater decrease in the production of hydrochloric acid.

Simultaneous intake of drugs that reduce the acidity of gastric juice, and other oral medicines can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of the latter.

Storage conditions

Store the drug in the form of tablets at room temperature according to the expiration date printed on the package.

Shelf life

Shelf life 2 years. Ready-made solution for infusions can be used within 12 hours, after which it becomes unfit for consumption.
