Fungal skin diseases (synonyms: mycoses, dermatomycosis).

Skin diseases caused by pathogenic fungi are called dermatomycosis.

Fungi affect the skin, hair, nail plates and internal organs. There are several classifications of fungal skin diseases. Some are based on the genus and species of fungi, others - on the location of the pathological process.

The following are distinguished:

  • keratomycosis (lichen versicolor, trichosporia nodosa);
  • dermatomycosis (athlete's foot, rubromycosis, trichophytosis, microsporia, favus);
  • candidiasis (candidiasis of the skin, mucous membranes and nails, chronic generalized (granulomatous) candidiasis in children, visceral candidiasis);
  • systemic (deep) mycoses (histoplasmosis, chromomycosis, actinomycosis, etc.).
